I just purchased this and love it! I wish it lasted longer on the skin, but it definitely lasts on clothing. The way you describe fragrances is lovely -- I love listening to you.
I just tested this fragrance by chance today in a dept store and moments after I sprayed it, two women came up to me at different times and said I smelled so good! I couldn't stop smelling my arm the entire way home and I can still smell it now--over four hours later! I cannot wait to purchase this GORGEOUS fragrance, as it suits me perfectly!!! I stumbled upon your video as I was researching the fragrance and I'm so glad that I did! Chanel should snatch you up!!!🙂
Glad that you’re reviewing this. I rarely reach for Gabrielle, it just doesn’t call me as so many other Chanel fragrances do. I’ve decided to wait on the L’eau and put the other in my bathroom to encourage me to wear it a bit more, then I’ll decide. I’m searching to replenish No19 perfume - it’s been out of stock at the boutique. Here’s hoping 🤞
I hope No19 parfum comes back soon too. I use Gabrielle parfum on the regular but not the edp and essence even though they have grown on me in the past years.
Dacob! Amazing as always!!! Such a thrilling review and all the stories involved in the video! I like the original Gabrielle and starting to associate it with the DNA of Chanel more and more. So excited! Running to apply my perfume before shower! What should i choose 🙃?)))
What a lovely video ❤ I'm so glad you like it as much as I do!😊 It was literally love at first snif for me, it's elegant, airy, delicate, and absolutely a Chanel! As you're saying, Oliver Polge is making slowly but surely his way up to the throne! 😅 It's really great that he's not just imitating his father, but he's coming out with strong ideas, he's building his own identity and, sort of re writing the history of Chanel's perfumes. Modernity can be a great thing if it brings coherence to a more global vision, and this is it with Gabrielle: a new story for a new decade...This range is now labeled by Oliver, and, weirdly I'm eventually getting excited about the Gabrielle the original !🤭 I poshly ignored it when it came out, and now, I can't wait to re discover it with a fresh new understanding of what it tried to say from the get go...Love you have a great week 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thankyou so much for this whimsical first impression review Dacob 🎉 I do love the sound of it, and the composition and notes sound perfectly heavenly for our Spring and summer coming up down here. Thankyou as always for the time and effort that you put into covering all aspects in your perfume reviews. I am going to see if I can have a snifferoo tommorow 🎉-I am looking forward to your next review of Gabrielle L'eau. ❤❤❤ xxx
Loving the review. They are all amazing as always. Are you ok today, Dear Dacob? I can sense slight sadness or perhaps tiredness. Just concerned. 🥺💞Sending a lot of positive vibes.
Hi Anna 🥰💖 I am not sure why I appear sad or tired. You are not the only person to notice this in this video. It was not my intention to come across as sad. I wonder why it appears that way? Was I tired? I don’t think I was tired when I filmed the review. Hmm 🤔
I am sorry that “you had to take one for the team” when you were slowing down on perfume consumption. However, I have been very curious about this one, so glad you did. 😀 I enjoy Gabrielle Essence and in the extrait. I don’t hate the OG but do not love it enough to buy. I appreciate your sacrifice for the review. I will probably buy it before next summer, but I will stick to what I have for now. I am very fond of the two Gabrielles I own. I think as we move more towards global warming with more scorching summers, Olivier’s love of citruses/fruity light florals may be just the direction we will all need to head. Anything to bring some refreshing lightness to the oppressive heat heaviness that are summers in so many places now. It will be interesting to see if longevity will increase over time. I have found some of the Chanel fragrances dissipated quicker than most anything I have tried anywhere, but overtime began sticking around. The Les Eaux fragrances I currently have all been that way. At first I wondered if they were worth it at all because they were gone in an hour and you just could not detect them, but the three I own all developed after first use in the weeks and months to follow. I even find the No. 5 L’eau is ever so slightly better lasting than at first. I am grateful for your sacrifice and so glad this one worked out to be a new love.
Loved this first impressions/review, you make me wanna go try it now. Chanel recently got me with the L’Eau pebble, even if L’Eau doesn’t quite work on me. But what do you know, I followed your tips on “dosing”, the distance between sprayer and skin makes a huge difference! I used to spray L’Eau super close to my skin when I would test it and the result would be this thudding, blinding, screechy block of almost sour smell. I spray it now at least seven inches approximately away from my skin and the result is this lovely, sparkling jasmine/neroli champagne of a scent. Love! Also, I don’t know if it’s just on me but the woods in L’Eau make it quite androgynous, if masculine leaning, it’s confident and sexy.
Thank you jrdvd 🥰🥰🥰 oh yes, the distance fr m which we spray No5 L’Eau makes a huge difference as to how it smells on us. I also always spray it from a distance and only then do I get the gorgeous powdery soft creamy jasmine orrisy smell. Love it to bits. And yes, actually each No5 concentration smells very androgynous to my nose.
Wow, Dacob you have quiet the dent in Comet! Love your review Dacob! For longevity issues perhaps layer the L'eau with Gabrielle body cream? I love your idea about wearing both the parfum and L'eau together. Gabrielle body cream is gorgeous and very comforting. Have you tried it?
I agree with the newer boxes being thinner. I bought a bottle of BDC Parfum and the first box had a deep scar on the front of the box. I was hoping that the second one wouldn't have any blemishes and luckily it didn't.
I adore your reviews! ❤❤❤I love Chanel perfumes and need to have all of them!😅 I didn't run for the niche hipe which is biger and biger...I love old fashion, time when Coco was living and working, and traditional french style❤
Dacob would you consider doing Celine perfume reviews? Intrigued as to what your olfactory story telling might be!! I really love them for their understated beauty! X
Yes I would consider doing them for sure. Just have not gotten to them yet and have not purchased any yet. The wish list is very long and I don’t want to over-consume.
I went out the other day to my local department store to do jeans shopping, didn’t find anything I liked enough to try on, wandered over to the cosmetics department to sniff around - I don’t like shopping so I’m usually behind on releases. I smelled La Vie est Belle L’Elixir because people are raving over it. It’s not for me. I sniffed a few other fragrances in passing. I didn’t like anything else so I headed to the Chanel offerings (there are only the mass market fragrances at our store) where my nose has never been traumatized (so far). Chanel frags are spendy but good quality, imo, compared to other designer fragrances. So I’m currently a Chanel girl. They get my perfume allowance money. I sniffed the new Gabrielle L’Eau on a card, and I REALLY liked it, but I don’t need another Gabrielle or L’Eau right now. (I like your mindful consumption, by the way). I wish Gabrielle L’Eau had come out first. But I was looking for something more festive to take me through the holidays and winter time, and I chose Coco Mademoiselle edp Intense. I’m quite smitten with it. But I may revisit Gabrielle L’Eau when the weather warms up. I’m still trying to get through a bottle of the original edp, and the Essence, which I received as a gift and have barely worn, though I think it’s lovely. But L’Eau seems lovely for an all-occasion staple. I need to test it on skin.
thanks for the video ! what do you think of gabrielle l’eau compared with paris riviera ? i agree with your comment re smelling watery & also find that olivier polge interpretes « l’eau et lumière » very well. the vibe from gabrielle l’eau is very similar to the vibe i get from n°5 l’eau as well as paris-riviera. anything l’eau is meant to be light which i definitely appreciate. i have the original gabrielle edp but it’s not a favourite; i tend to use the shower gel & hair mist, with only the edp used as a small mid day top up spritz. and coincidentally, the one main thing holding me back from getting gabrielle l’eau is precisely the word « l’eau » printed on the bottle - i do not like this aesthetic at all & really dislike this simple font... but i *really* like this newest version for its luminous warmth yet light watery freshness. it’s like watching a beautiful sunrise over a shimmering lake.
@@essence-tiallydacob9611 Yes! I needed a little longer with Coromandel - but Chanel always works for me. Your review just prompted me to retry Gabrielle L'Eau - but I think, I will not fall in love with it like I did with Comète or Cristalle. It's just ... a nice little scent.
Oh I definitely agree with you about the extreme gold version being the prettiest bottle! And no they shouldn’t put the ounces/ml on the front, that’s just silly 🤷♀️ but the notes of this new one do sound interesting. Until you said grapefruit ehhh I’m not a big fan of grapefruit. But the bottles are beautiful! I’ll have to try this one!
Okay, I broke my promise to myself to wait on this one. Well, I half broke my promise. I went to a decant site and bought 8 mil for $35 ($40 shipped). I had to try it. I really really like it. I love Gabrielle Essence, Gabrielle parfum, and now this one! Dacob, I think I like this for the Gabrielle line better than I like No. 5 L’Eau for the No. 5 line. Don’t get me wrong, I adore No. 5 L’Eau (especially in the oval pebble bottle). That one is in a bag in my purse all the time now. However, No. 5 L’Eau seems less related to me to its family than this one does. Of course, I have had many decades with No. 5 in extrait, EDT, and EDP. Maybe it is harder for me to recognize something new as a part of the No. 5 family. Anyway, I really enjoy this and this small amount will get me through the summer! Next spring, I will want a full bottle!
I understand what you mean. Yeah, it can be challenging to accept a new version of No5 into the family, since No5 parfum has been around for over a hundred years and all things considered Gabrielle has only been around for a short amount of time. Gabrielle L’Eau is great in my opinion too.
Hi Dacob Corazon! My chemistry doesn't like any of the Gabrielle versions! It's interesting that the only chanel I like is the "Men's" Egoiste. Adore that sandalwood!
