PAINTS
For this painting, I used warm (yellow and browns), cool (blues and violet) and greys (moon glow and lamp black).
Beware of super strong colours, like phalo green. Avoid them! Test your colours before you start.

I love the calm music. I find it to be more conducive to concentration. Thank you for the great lesson.
Thank you!
love your skills with the larger brush sizes, most impressed . Jim
Thanks Jim! They are fun. I’ve bought a new one for the next video though. This one has passed its use by date!
I love the confidence and bold brush strokes like John singer Sargent. I love, love, loved the video and your talent. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you so much!
Shirley; great to see you back on RUclips; your painting style is fantastic - I have certainly missed your videos.
Thankyou. 🥰
I love the way adding white makes the painting sparkle❤
Yes! It’s a great trick.
Watching you work takes my breath away. Magical, but not. Hard work and lots of practice. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent❤
You are so welcome
So wonderful to see you back. I love your work in all the mediums you do, but I especially love your watercolour. Thanks again for the lesson it’s great as usual.
Thanks Lesley. That's great to hear.
You are very skilled. Everything looks so easy, but I know it takes a lot of experience to do what you are doing! Thanks! ❤🙏
Thank you. Nice comment 💕
The light, especially on the posts is beautiful! I enjoy the soft music. Thank you for a great lesson!

Glad you like it!
So wonderful to see you back. I love your work in all the mediums but especially water colour.
Many thanks.
Liberté et contrôle. Gestes affirmés. Les bases de l’aquarelle en quelque sorte. Belle leçon.
Merci beaucoup!
The music on here was not distracting at all. Thank you for walking through your whole process. And talking about the reason for doing what you’re doing…saving hard lines…and losing them. And I like using white gauche. Because it is impossible for me to think about for every possible place I need to save . I am not that experienced. This is a lovely painting ❤️
Thank you Roxann. It’s like playing chess!! You focus on one area, then forget something adjacent! And thanks for your supportive comment. 🥰
Amazing result, I love this!
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely lovely Shirley!
Glad you like it.
I like the way you saved those two small white (paper) areas and used them for the fence and cabin.
Yes! That’s the best part of watercolour! Thankyou
A Beautiful water colour and a very talented artist thankyou for sharing Shirley. 😊
My pleasure 😊
Great instruction and soothing music. Thank you Shirley.

Carlos
Hello Carlos. Thank you for commenting. I'm glad you like my style. :)
You have such confident brushstrokes. I guess you’ve practiced a lot 😌
I was a doodler at school! So yes, practice is the key.
You inspire me to use a larger brush and try again with a more vibrant underpainting on a plein air painting I did two days ago. Thanks and greetings from North Carolina
That’s good to hear. Hope it works!
Thank u so much for sharing your amazing talent. 😍😍
So nice of you
I love your style.
Thankyou!
Great to see you back, with your pallet that's beading up, some toothpaste works it's not so abrasive, love the light in this painting.
Ok thank you! I'll try that.
Well done !
Thankyou!
I love your style!
Thankyou!
Your work really is amazing. I really like it when you're talking your way though and sometimes get lost in the painting and forget about the camera Although the new palette is very nice, I I liked the old one. 😁👍💛
Ha! Thank you. I do trail off sometimes, and make no sense at all! Old palette might get used for plein air, maybe. It's a better compact size.
Beautiful water color
Thank you! Cheers!
I have the same palette, I’m loving it
Nice big mixing area!
Must watch this channel 😊😊😊 Wonderful painting ❤❤❤

Hi, really enjoyed watching you paint this! Iv only just discovered your channel so Iv subscribed and will be watching more from you😊. Really love how you use the large brush so freely, and how soft your paints work together, great colours used, and smashing techniques, really is a lovely style you have. All the best 😊 John b
Thank you!! A lovely comment.
❤❤❤🖌️🎨
🙏
hi shirley could you tell me what you r working on saunders/waterford maybe, rag paper, ?
Arches 185g. It was too thin to hold up by itself. I had to tape it back onto that board. 🤷🏼♀️. The surface was cold pressed.
Ih Shirley so gtsy you agaim love !❤ How's Bob? Thx for coming back.
Bobs great! Having fun on the tractor 🚜 😊🤷🏼♀️
Can u tell us what colours your using please
My colours are often “blue” or “brown” when I’m painting. I wipe the brush over a few colours in the pan. Next video I’ll publish a photo of my palette with the colours marked. In the meantime there is a list in the description.
As an Aussie, I love seeing you paint these type of scenes with old shacks … more please! I’d like to know the brand and size of the flat brush you used ?
Thank you Tricia. I'm glad you like this scene. And thank you for the heads up regarding a link for the big brush. I have just bought this set: amzn.to/3K6pTL8. But the one I was using was a Reeves brand (not recommended!). I'll test the new ones in my next video.
İlavede your söyle very much…
Thank you.
South African accent? Zimbabwean?
Close! Australian 😊
@@shirleypeters 😂. Not strongly so…..
One of the worst demos I have seen
Obviously you haven’t seen my others!!! 😂🤔😵💫
Except for the music, a nice lesson. The music does not help your lessons. No teacher in a classroom puts on sleep inducing music. It’s such a distraction. Unfortunately, along with Timelapse, it’s quite a discouraging trend right now with RUclips artists. I have no idea why you are following the trend.
Fewer words would be better.
Glad you liked the lesson.
Away
Re the music...that's an opinion...some people may not find it a distraction. @shirleypeters love watching your technique!
If you don’t like her format, a very easy fix is turn off your sound, and put on closed captions. Problem fixed. Everyone has different preferences.
