Seen them in "76. They were cutting edge at the time! Broke the mold! Gene's flame spitting was so gargantuan! You could feel the heat off of it! Amazing!
“Cutting edge”? In 1976? Really? Glam was already over by then and punk was getting started. This was definitely popular at the time, no doubt… but far from ‘cutting edge’.
I was unable to see them in concert when they were in San Bernardino, CA love them!❤❤❤❤
gene looks like such a punk it's awesome
You mean like what being a “punk” meant in the days before it was associated with a youth movement or a specific kind of music? Agreed.
Gene is so in character here!! It was so believable in the early days. Nothing forced.
Really? Seems pretty damn forced and awkward from where I’m sitting.
They were ahead of their time.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
wow. Ive seen this MD show...I was 4
weird FLASHBACK! I remember this
Michael Delaney Dowd Jr. (August 11, 1920 - August 11, 2006), known as Mike Douglas, was an American "Big Band" era singer, entertainer, television talk show host of The Mike Douglas Show, and actor.
Thank you Wikipedia
@@dane21dc So what if this person used Wikipedia? SOMEONE did the research to get those facts. (I think some people go online to let out the whiny b**ches they keep in during their average existences.)
What a shitty birthday
I never knew this was in Philly in the kyw studio that’s amazing Philly born and raised baby ♥️✌🏼
I remember this, I was 9.
That lady made this show truly special!
Ace's guitar solo was top notch. And these guys were still green.
6 months No wonder still honey moon stage! Wow this interview year before I was born.
As an 8 year old My World would not be the same,REMEMBER THIS TILL TODAY!
Really is a miracle that kiss made it from then to now, didn't look like they got off to a very good start. But who knew how things would change over time I just don't know how they could wear makeup for decades
My grandmother wore makeup all the way up to her last days at the age of 96. It can be done.
"If one Alice Cooper works, so will four!" -KISS (from an early interview)
One of those rare instances where they actually acknowledged publicly that they totally ripped off AC’s schtick. New York Dolls were another major source, especially for Paul, but they’ve always copped to that one.
I was in 6th grade when this aired. Rockin!
Watched the new movie about Casablanca Records. At the beginning of the movie Kiss played at Casablancas 1974 grand opening celebration and the fire sprinklers came on and ruined their gig, wonder if that’s true. Anywho that brought me to Mike Douglas 1974 show. Gene’s spitting fire was epic and what a beginning. That show was so kind to this band, I’m sure Casablanca had something to do with them getting on the show.
Spinning gold 📀 rocks.
Sure miss those days
Saw this on my BDay!
May 25th is my Bday I wasnt born in Chicago though thank God
Pardon my ignorance, but why are you thanking God you weren't born in Chicago?
@@eaaivazianPeople say a lot of really weird shit in these comment sections.
Gene's young voice
YES
I can see why Aucoin told him to be quiet and let the others do the talking. It enhanced his image measurably when he never said anything. It was funny listening to him make snorting noises through the whole thing. No telling what he thought that implied. He was pretty campy here.
Developing his persona
@@jeffreycuray81963 Or learn by your mistakes. It was likely a good thing that only homemakers were watching this at the time.
@@Playitstraight44 lol
“Campy” is one word for it. More like “cringey” in my opinion.
I think Paul was raised knowing where the camera is
I can’t believe I’ve never seen this.
