- We took a trip to Washington Heights, AKA the Little Dominican Republic, to meet up with Joel Popoteur, Supreme employee and long-time skater, to check out the Dominican-inspired movement he calls “Dominguez Corporation,” a community that hikes, skates, and rock climbs together.

@@erikmoore2918 DOPE. Ain't gonna lie; I had to google what the "Pioneer" format (I'm not a fan of modern border MTG and mainly polay Old School). I've gone full circle the past couple of years and now only play with proxies. I've also redesigned a bunch of sets to look like they're old, including original Innistrad, the first Jumpstart set and the infamous Spectral Chaos. If you google them along with my username, you'll be able to find them & print 'em out.

That is a massive lie. As someone who is very immersed in climbing and climbing culture. Most climbers (compared to skaters) are either thrasher sporting brandfags or Mongo pushing children. Climbing culture, for the most part, is pushed as squeaky clean and inclusive. I fucking hate most climbers and it's culture but I'll be damned if I don't love grabbing and developing boulders.

@@HochstartHarry I always assumed climbing in Germany is so normalized it couldn't really be against the grain or counter culture. Sounds like a fantastic area though.
@@hypothyroidist sport climbing is, but the trad style on saxon sandstone is historicly counter culture, its really traditional, and we have lots of rules, but they make it so that normal sport climbers dont dare go to the limit on sandstone (no chalk, no metal pro, no top down first ascents, minumum bolt/ring distance etc. i love this climbing style, because its daring and dangerus (very similar to uk trad) and overcoming your fear is the most rewarding thing when you do the last pice of slippery slopey slab to the top of a tower. and top out with blood and sweat running down your limbs.
Only in 2024 you can watch a doc about a guy who didn’t know he could go outside and do things if he wasn’t rich while also wearing 1700$ designer jackets the whole time

I use to Skate and Surf in Puerto Rico! Now I climb and play Chess,I feel they similar when it comes to the fact the you have to have a plan throughout the hole process. Big up everyone! God bless!
This is freaking awesome. My dad used to climb these rocks in the 60s when he was growing up on Bennett ave. Until sadly one of his friends whose name I think was Scott (and the best climber among them) passed away from a fall. Glad to see you guys using crash pads.

You all gotta see Chris Sharma in "Rampage". 90s skate vid style was the 1st thing that made outdoor bouldering take off. A bunch of kids road tripping in a beat up RV trying hard af throwing themselves at shit til it lands.
95% of bouldering is just chilling with homies in between psyching yourself up to try as hard as you can go do something gnarly. Or climb chill if that's the vibe of the day

As a lifelong skater (began in 1992), and recent climber (2020), I have found a ton of current climbers and former skaters.
The vibes are very similar and there's a lot of crossover in cultures.

Look into the old vasque hiking style boots, sorrel, and the most versatile and stylish of its time Salomon.
