Resident Evil 4[c] is a survival horror third-person shooter game developed by Capcom Production Studio 4[1] and published by Capcom. It was originally released for the GameCube in 2005. Players control U.S. government special agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. president's daughter Ashley Graham, who has been kidnapped by a cult. In a rural part of Europe, Leon fights hordes of villagers infected by a mind-controlling parasite, and reunites with the spy Ada Wong.
Development began for PlayStation 2 in 1999. Four proposed versions were discarded; the first attempt was directed by Hideki Kamiya after producer Shinji Mikami. In a departure from the fixed camera angles and slower survival horror gameplay of previous Resident Evil games, the team focused on developing more dynamic shooting action.
Resident Evil 4 was announced as a GameCube exclusive as part of the Capcom Five, but was ported to numerous formats, becoming a cross-platform hit, selling more than 11 million copies across all platforms. It garnered universal acclaim for its story, gameplay, graphics, voice acting, and characters, and is often named one of the best video games ever made, winning multiple Game of the Year awards in 2005. It influenced the evolution of the survival horror and third-person genres, popularizing the "over-the-shoulder" third-person view. A sequel, Resident Evil 5, was released in 2009.
The player controls the protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy, from a third-person perspective. Departing significantly from the series' previous games, the gameplay focuses on action and shootouts with fewer survival horror elements. The camera is placed behind Leon and zooms in for an over-the-shoulder view when aiming a weapon, or a first-person view when aiming with a sniper rifle.[2] There is no crosshair for firearms; instead, every firearm has a laser sight. Unlike previous games where players can only shoot straight, up, or down, players have more options. For example, shots to the feet can cause enemies to stumble, and shots to the arms can make them drop their weapons. Players can also shoot down projectiles like thrown axes or scythes

I was glad to finish it and wont be playing it again, 5 was worse though. Not my type of game sadly, I envy those who consider it legendary!
the old good days, i used to spend hours in my room playing it over and over, trying to unlock every bit of it, and believe me it was moments full joy and tears, anger and disappointment, but it was a blast to be a part of the community that played it and still paying it till now....on ps2 and pc

for me, not very legendary. No puzzles, no backtracking, no exploration, like in true Resident Evil games. RE Zero and Remake are more legendary and scary

Legendry game man. I have spent hours and hours completing it. Oh god those days those memories. This game made me fell in love with leon and he is still my favourite till date. Everything about RE4 was incredible. Story, graphics, characters, etc. Leon's and ada's chemistry has always been amazing. I have forgotten how many times I have completed RE4. I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE BEST IN RESIDENT EVIL SERIES. IF NOT, THE BEST GAME IN RE SERIES.

Gameplay may be clunky, but never feels badly designed. It adds to the challenge, while the item management makes you think about every bullet and item you use. They even made the inventory fun by using the briefcase!

Yeah there’s no denying its clunky and feels very dated now, but no game atmosphere has ever gotten me as immersed as this did. The areas were so unique and memorable.

In this game, you learn to earn.....you hustle for that muscle. If you haven't done the following, then I understand why you feel it's "clunky".
* Beat the main game 3 to 4 times
* Earn 2 side games : Assignment Ada & Separate Ways
* Earn a trip to play "Mercenaries" (play 4 screens / 5 characters) get 60k with each character on each screen

For a resident evil game re4 was primarily an unimmersive, ungrounded and unrealistic experience.
I HATED its cheesyness, dissolving dead enemies and all those other non credible elements.
Nobody would have ever complained had resident evil kept its focus on serious survival horror.

On the one hand gamers and reviewers are praising re2 remake for finally bringing back grounded survival horror, implying that they prefer that very approach.
On the other hand they keep calling re4 a "masterpiece", not allowing to kick out even the most ridiculous elements referring the incoming remake.
That's not making any sense or whatsoever.
People are simply having inconsistent and unreflected preferences.
They have no CLUE what they really want unless they get it.

I beat regular mode on game cube . Got to the guy with wing arm (forgot his name) and at that time back then , not all of knew to just use knife 🗡️. I soft locked and never beat on that difficulty. I played on PS2 but don't know if I finished it. I bought hd PS3 version soon so I left my progress. On the PS3 I finally beat hard level! And got hand Cannon to boot!

The game throws armies of Ganados at you. It only makes sense to have an itchy trigger finger.
I used to play it back in 2006, its golden days that i will never ever forget it. I hope those in CapCom to Remake this great game with different story, and specially we want Leon he is great in fighting those zombies alone.

- had gameplay wise bad sections like the island which was only about mindless shooting
- was lacking elements that are actually indispensable for an action focused game like that (like ingame weapon selection, being able to aim while moving). So combat felt quite clunky and undynamic after all.
- was artificially prolonged
- had mediocre controls
- And yes: Re4 was disregarding almost any of those strengths which had made resident evil popular in the first place and that IS a point of criticism on its own.
Re4 wasn't grounded survival horror.
It was a far fetched, unimmersive and non credible action shooter.
You people still praising re4 must really hate the old games.
My point is that re4 is nothing but a far fetched and cartoony fantasy action shooter that strictly disregards almost anything which made the series great in the first place.
Hope that the remake would take this masterpiece into a better dimension

когда-то ради этой игры покупал плойку. И эта игра до сих пор шикарная. Уникальная боевая система (которая, конечно, сейчас смотрится нелепо, но хорошо добавляет сложности), хорошая атмосфера, отличный эксперимент с тетрисом в инвентаре и потрясающий саундтрек при сохранении. А при установки максимальной сложности эта игра превращается в настоящий дарк соулс с огенстрелом.
Что-то не нашёл именно в 4к и 60 фпс на пс5 такую

I love the "no strategy" tactic. Just run around and let whatever happen, happen. All kidding aside, I assume this was a blind playthrough 🤔. I observed some novice approaches being made here n there. What was the difficulty setting? Still an enjoyable experience watching the game play 👍

It's dated control, and the graphics, no matter how HD you mod it, it's out dated, that's fact. don't let your emotion cloud your judgement.
And the new generation also needs to experience this master piece like we did, though, it would be low capcom just updated the control and graphics, and sell it again as new game, they'd better innovate this game to 2022 standards.

I remember first having this game on GameCube it was an American version I had to insert a special disc before playing it . Strange part is no one in school would believe me I had resi evil 4 as it was an over the shoulder perspective game and seemed to different. As time went on I always reflect back sitting there alone in the upstairs room spending hours not knowing what to expect next no internet no tutorial finding my way across the this epic game
