I love how Zeus just stood at Mount Olympus watching Poseidon get murdered by Kratos. I mean if they really wanted to. They could all jump Kratos and probably beat Kratos together.
The way it's directed, with the player being forced to see the violence that Kratos is doing through the eyes of his victim, is amazing. The way you control him as he gouges out the eyes you're using to view the game and every everything goes black. It forces you to experience it fully, this isn't just some random act with no consequences, this is killing a person, you feel the fear, the struggle to stay alive, to resist, and yet succumb.
The character - Kratos, has inspired lots of people. I like him a lot so I decided to create a statue of him using cement, if you are a fan of him then I believe you will like it!
Hell, the part where you beat up Zeus with your own fists actually only ends when you stop mashing. At this point, it's literally the player's rage or hatred for Zeus that keeps the beating going.
Of all of these, the only one I felt bad for was Hercules. He was extremely misguided. You even saw it in his eye movement when kratos told him Zeus has no favorites.

48:07 Never noticed the chains falling off his wrists after killing zeus. Guess it was supposed to signify he was no longer bound by vengeance or by the gods
Its because all magic in Greece ultimately stemmed from Zeus. With Zeus dead, there is no more godly power, which leads to the real world history of mankind, being devoid of gods.
In my opinion the worst brutal murders kratos has done is Hercules literally broke his whole face with his own gauntlets and continued to caved his face into his skull and Zeus literally gets beaten to death like he owed kratos cash, Santa Monica is a legend for creating a game based off the mythology never ever take anyone away that kratos loves or they will end up like Greece.
that was a thing that always bothered me. They put POSEIDON as first boss, only to put helios already half dead later on, only to (literally) shine for some seconds
Don't know why, but I was under the impression that Kratos was a calm and reasonable person Edit: For the record, I have played both the older and newer games and know why Kratos is the way he is
He’s calm now but this was how he use to be when he was young. He wants to prevent this from going on but he slowly went back to his old ways just to protect his son who he loved more then anything.
@@bladetheelectrowolf1554 yeah obviously, anyone who has even a remote idea of what he was like in the old games knows he had good reasons for all the destruction he caused. Hes not a senseless killer turned good, he always had his reasons for what he did. When going over to norse mythology he was constantly holding back for his family, atreus.
@@spaxerbusiness6667 Hercules is the Roman name, since this is the Greek pantheon he should be Heracles but they apparently went with Hercules because it would be more recognizable and it was a little late to change the name in the third game ig
And that’s where Kratos told Atreus he should never make the same mistakes he once did; indeed, Kratos had his reasons for basically shitting on Olympus’ grave, but after the carnage he wrought on Greece, he realized how much of a selfish dick he was all for the sake of killing Zeus. Indeed, there are consequences to killing a god, and said consequences were massive.
@@AlastorAltruistGaming I get the feeling Mimir would probably condemn Kratos for his actions if he knew the whole story... but also feel his stance is reinforced: The Greek Pantheon deserved what happened to them.
The Norse pantheon doesn’t know how lucky they have it. If they meet with this Kratos they really would of had a Ragnarok. The Kratos they meet with was reformed, leave me alone I’m trying to live my quite life Kratos. The Norse really got it good, considering GOW 3 Kratos.
It's truly remarkable to witness Kratos' transformation from his older and wiser self compared his younger, more ruthless self as he battled against the gods of Olympus. If Kratos were still in his prime, there is no doubt in my mind that he could have easily taken on the entire Norse Pantheon alone.
He’s actually stronger in the later games since Greek Gods get stronger as time passes. Said later games just have Kratos holding back due to character building/Atreus
@@SaintTay 'Stronger' is subjective, Kratos in GoW is in his prime and has every kind of Greek magic avaliable to him. He isn't rusty, he is not holding back, he is completely motivated, and it shows in his fighting style. He is much faster than he is in the new games. In fact he is WAY bigger in the older games too, so any extra strength he may have gained is lost in leverage from going from almost 8 feet tall to 6'4. So they should be about as functionally 'strong' as each other. I don't think Older Kratos being x years old counts for shit either, he already destroyed the entire Greek Pantheon despite an immense age difference already. And Zeus was the strongest of his brothers despite them being older, and there are also reasons to believe Ares was stronger than Zeus, fearing him and wanting Kratos to do what he could not. Yeah some of the devs say he is 'stronger' but why would you weigh their opinions so highly after considering the information above? Of course they would say that, why WOULDN'T they say that? "Oh yes, Kratos is a weaker now." Great marketing. Aint no way Prime Kratos loses to Old Kratos.
I like the newer games but the original trilogy makes you feel stronger. You fight several more enemies at a time, the attacks have massive aoe, the spectacle is brutal, the hp is generous with a lot of room for error (unlike dmc at the time) and the stunning effects are diminished to make you feel unstoppable. Most of the details and little things are made to make you feel like a force of nature. Newer GOW are more grounded and the 1v1/customization may be superior but the feel of power is nothing close.
@@Vidyagameenjoyerhe doesn’t have Greek magic available to him. Mimir asks him if he could draw on some of his Greek magic during GOW Ragnarok and he says that he can’t, with Freya explaining that the power of the gods is tied to the land they come from. With Greece dead, Kratos can’t draw on his powers to the same degree as when he was killing the Olympians.
“No matter how many Gods fall, there will always be another to stand against you” That is so true. Kratos is so badass, he took on TWO pantheons of Gods. Olympus and Asgard. I think he might even take on the Gods of Egypt.
He did go to Egypt after leaving Greece. Surprisingly, no Egyptian Gods tried to kill him. Maybe they heard what happened and decided to leave him alone until he went to the Norse realm.
Poseidon: No matter how many Gods fall, there will always be another to stand against you. Kratos: They will fall as well --The Norse Gods stood against him, but not every one of them fell, and not always by Kratos' hand Hades: Oh, all the memories. They're overwhelming, really. --Memories of his past haunt him after he finally completed his mission of vengeance. So overwhelming they are that he cannot bring himself to openly speak about them Gaia: Kratos, do I mean nothing to you? I never sought your death, Spartan, but you have left me no choice. --His own son often wondered about this, especially because he knows so little about his father and where he comes from. He does not seek his father's death, but vision of the future sees it happening anyway because they feel there's no choice. Helios: You will forfeit your life in trying. Kratos: Of all the lives you should worry about, Helios, mine is not one of them. --Kratos will find however he cannot stop people from worrying about his life...because it is a true sign of care that people WILL miss him when he's gone. Hermes: Today you may defeat me, but in the end, Kratos, in the end you'll betray only yourself. --Kratos long believed he find what he sought with the death of Zeus, only find he was only fooling himself Hera: Applause for another bastard child of Zeus! You think you can just walk away? You destroy all you touch. --Kratos becomes a father again to a son who has to live with his father's reputation as a God-Killer. He does not expect his father will do better just for him...after all Zeus never did better. Not just for Kratos, but for none of his children. None of what Zeus did was forgotten: he never could escape it and he paid the price for it with his life. Kratos could and would have easily fallen into that same trap Kratos: Zeus has no favorites. Hercules: Perhaps he did allow me to kill the Nemean Lion, but he made your name known amongst the people! A fierce warrior. A killer made hero. A man made a god. --Kratos becomes known in lands beyond Greece even if it's just titles like "Ghost of Sparta" since Mimir heard of him. And as he will find, eventually even he will become those things Herc says he's looked as by the Greek people Cronos: You killed Ares out of your need for vengeance. I should have expected this from a coward such as yourself! --That need for vengeance is reason so many innocent people died at the hands and blades of Kratos. He closed off his heart in order to fulfill his mission, not once stopping to think or to stay his hand. Because he feared nothing more then failure... and the truth. He was a coward. Hephaestus: Here is your retribution! I'm sorry Pandora. --Kratos would bring any retribution on those who would harm Atreus because he fear for the life of his son more then he feared anything in the world after losing his first AND second wife, plus a daughter. Zeus: Taking pity on you was a mistake. --Opening your heart is never a mistake, but it takes the son to show the father that since Kratos killed his own, who killed his own, and who killed his own. Because it's the only way to stop the cycle from repeating Pandora: Hope is what makes us strong. --Kratos will find his hope when he meets his son for the first time
never played the GoW series, but it depicts amazingly what losing everything can do to a person. and when said person finally has something to lose again, they treasure what they have far more than what they previously lost. Kratos left (and later accidentally killed) his family in service of Zeus to slay Ares, but he will never abandon his BOY no matter the cost. he murdered gods in a blind rage, out of revenge for his Greek family. and he would do so again, to prevent the loss a second time. that is what makes the violent, vengeful Ghost of Sparta, into the calm and reasonable All-Father of War.
Kratos really showed a lot of mercy to all the norse gods. Young Kratos just didn't care about anything he killed everyone and everything that stand in his way for revenge, no wisdom, no nothing, just madness and revenge, then he had nothing to lose.
You’re Wrong Most Of The New Norse Fans Are, Kratos Warned Everyone Before Killing Including Zeus After God of War Ghost Of Sparta In God of War Betrayal Kratos Tries To Become Allies To Zeus Again And Come To The Point Of God of War 3 Kratos Had To Kill Zeus Or Zeus Would Kill Kratos It’s Litrely What Gaia Said… Ragnarok Sucks Can’t Be this.
Im just gotta say that Helios' Death is the most brutal and possibly my favorite of all the other gods in God of War 3. Kratos really went off with Helios' Head
Old Kratos was genuinely scary and insane to play. Like, I remember getting it when it came out on the PS2 and I was just actually scared cause not only were his proportions a little off and sorta scary, but his facial expressions when killing and is mannerisms were too. Still amazing and I go back and replay it occasionally. To add on this, new Kratos makes me feel like he'd be a really good dad to me. I mean, he IS a good dad, but id trust him with everything. Makes me feel safe ig
Looking back, although Kratos did go on this murdering spree, he actually did give most of the Gods a chance to live, but they all spat in his face. He was always calm and reasonable lol
Like, if Hera had just shut up then she would've lived. Even when she tried to hit him he just pushed her away and kept walking. Shows you there was actually layers to Kratos in the first 3 games, not just in the last 2.
Kratos: *starts stomping Helios' head* Helios: Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. Let me TELL YOU SOMETHING!!! LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!
It's so interesting that people are so blind to all the things that are hidden under this whole quest of Kratos. We play as a true villain, and we love and support every action, but we miss all the things that make sense, sense to the eyes of a mature and experienced person or a critical thinking mind. Kratos is truly a blind destroyer, and we not just love this about him, but we TRULY support every action. (Well, most of us) Actions that destroyed the world, actions that he regrets later on. Yes, Gods are cruel, but that's the lesson. Gods are cruel, but this cruelty holds the world together, as the world itself is crue. Art imitates life. A great piece of art!

@@ronlynthekingofgames the "god had it coming" can be said for every creature that has ever lived. The only difference was that the gods, having defeated the creators of the world (titans), inherited the means to protect and preserve the world. That doesn't mean that the Gods were masters or all knowing and without mistakes. After years of protecting and evolving, sure, they started to feel like they were masters of everything, same can happen with every human, even in IRL (too much power for too long corrupts), thus the Gods were the ones who kept the world fuctioning according to the principles of it's creation. Kratos on the other hand, destroyed everything, and let it function and rebuilt by itself, unleashing only "hope", a feeling, to give "power" to every creature still alive after all that destruction.

@@DarkVentus358 there's a little thing called character development. Old man kratos let his rage run wild for a bit but quickly regretted it. Just because the fans fantasize about his brutality doesn't mean he's gonna go back on a millennium of self-reflection
@Fiery Fortifier that's not the point. While Kratos has had a melinium to self reflect, fans only got 5 years (9 to ragnarok. He hasn't run across gods to piss him off that whole time. And from a story telling perspective showing is better than telling. The point is, it was a win-win if they just let him do it for 1 boss fight, see the citizens at the end, then have that final moment with Atreus realizing his rage is causing more death even though he changed. We get a last good-bye. Kratos gets redemption.
@@DarkVentus358 exactly, the new fans are all like "character development exists", when in reality, the people that play the games, and not read some mediocre comic, would never see that character development. I don't like the new God of War as much as the old one, simply because the old showed and didn't tell, plus the gameplay is just more fun. (side note: anyone that says that the old Kratos was not a good character have simply not payed attention, or have not even played the games)
I love how Zeus’s words take on a different meaning yet still remaining the same in their intentions, only difference is that Kratos did not care about them then but have since come to haunt him years later in another Hell. but they got a Ragnarök in last game lol
To watch these games and then see the brand new God of War games talk about his history and such is just a wow moment. This guy was just wow. Still is
One of my favorite aspects of this game is how the world progressively becomes more destroyed as kratos continues his conquest of olympus...
@@SaintTay This BS again...
@@Vidyagameenjoyerhe doesn’t have Greek magic available to him. Mimir asks him if he could draw on some of his Greek magic during GOW Ragnarok and he says that he can’t, with Freya explaining that the power of the gods is tied to the land they come from. Gaia: Kratos, do I mean nothing to you? I never sought your death, Spartan, but you have left me no choice.
--His own son often wondered about this, especially because he knows so little about his father and where he comes from. He does not seek his father's death, but vision of the future sees it happening anyway because they feel there's no choice.

--Kratos long believed he find what he sought with the death of Zeus, only find he was only fooling himself
Hera: Applause for another bastard child of Zeus!
Kratos could and would have easily fallen into that same trap
Kratos: Zeus has no favorites.
And as he will find, eventually even he will become those things Herc says he's looked as by the Greek people
Cronos: You killed Ares out of your need for vengeance.
Because it's the only way to stop the cycle from repeating

Or Hell, I haven't read the comics and lore, simply because I lack the time and motivation, so I wouldn't exactly know the content of said comics and lore, but I feel like the new games tell you about Kratos' "development" more than show it.
I don't like the new God of War as much as the old one, simply because the old showed and didn't tell, plus the gameplay is just more fun.
(side note: anyone that says that the old Kratos was not a good character have simply not payed attention, or have not even played the games)
@@DemonicAthen unless i missed it. Gow4 literally shows Kratos dealing with grief and raising a son.
I love how Zeus’s words take on a different meaning yet still remaining the same in their intentions, only difference is that Kratos did not care about them then but have since come to haunt him years later in another Hell.
Brilliant way to make a callback to a previous story, wish more games were able to pull that off.
I died laughing when Kratos started bouncing Hades against the ceiling 🤣
1. Poseidon : Kratos pouch his eyes and Break his neck. Poseidon's death resulting the Sea Water Level increase creating the Tidal waves that swallow the Lands. The whole Greece was covered in a great Flood, leaving only the top of the mountain.
2. Hades : Kratos took his souls. Hades's death making the whole dead souls to escape from the Underworld, hwile wandering aimlessly throughout the living world.
3. Helios : Kratos sever Helios's head, which make him scream for the last time before death. The sun wa scovered with Dark Cloud along with rains and storms for eternity.
4. Hermes : Kratos sever his legs, and then several flies comes out of his corpse spreading a disease throughout Olympus.
5. Hercules : Pumelled into death by Krato using his own Cestus before destroying his face and make them all fall into the sewers.
6. Cronos : Got his whole guts disembowelled before stab on his jaw by a Chain on Pandora's temple. Kratos then pierce the Blade of Olympus into Cronos's head killing him.
7. Hephaesthus : Kratos electrocute him with his own mechanism and activate the Anvil that impale him instantly.
8. Hera : Kratos snap her neck. The death of the Queen resulting the whole plant life all over the Greece to withered and dead.
9. Gaia : Pierce in the heart by Kratos alongside Zeus with it. Gaia's body crumble leaving behind several rocks and dusts in the end.
10. Zeus : Kratos beat him to death. The death of Zeus cause a lightning Struck through the Heaven severing the bond between Olympus and Earth, before cause an explosion that destroy the Olympus leaving the world in Chaos.
He did Poseidon dirty
So essentially this is about a man destroying the entire world due to stubbornness???? Never played this franchise. Wasn't interested
@@MediaObservers Nah i don't blame you though in my opinion, The story is mad trash tbh but gameplay wise, I recommand you to play the franchise if your the type of person that likes action type games
@@KatieHuni everybody has their own opinions
10:23 I just love it when kratos said the same thing that Gaia said to him before she betrayed kratos.
The one thing they lacked in ragnarok and god of war 2018 was this type of brutality.
Still rate GOW 3 as the best game in the entire series.
I truly believe that out of all the deaths, the true physically painful was cronos' death for real.
Poseidon and zeus too, they got beaten to a bloody pulp
Nah, I think it was Gaia, imagine your literal heart being stabbed and shocked like that 🥶
Not talkin about Helios?
1.kronos
2.Hercules
3.Helios/Poseidon
you all forgot my man hephaestus, died in the underworld, sitting in lava, fried and with a spike on his heart while begging for his daughter's forgiveness
Helios could've probably been spared funnily enough. He got asked "where do I go" and man's said nah fuck you and imma lie to you as well just to double secure my death
Too much pride
Who’s here after finishing Valhalla.. I miss this kratos
I liked that ending! It starts to show a bit of the character growth we see in 4 and 5 (2018 and Ragnarok). Instead of blindly killing Athena, Kratos releases hope to help those he carelessly slaughtered in the process of making divine mincemeat. He denied her more power, in exchange for trying his best afterwards to help the innocents he wiped out. The start of an amazing change I'd say, from bloodthirsty warrior to a calm and reasonable man who knows how much the destruction he has wrought has cost.
Kratos: i killed the Gods who deny my revenge to Zeus, I don't care if you humans suffer from their deaths.
Also Kratos: imma kill myself to give you hope to compensate for destroying your world(even though no amount of hope is gonna bring the sun back, remove the pests, keep the souls in check, revitalize the plants and decrease the sea level cuz yes)
@@AllenTheAnimator004 Greece actually started rebuilding, believe it or not. The people indeed did know what to do with all that hope.
@@matasa7463 that doesn't stop the pests, the disappearance of the sun,the famine of crops and the high water level...
Even if you have hope, you can't bring the sun back, you can't make the plants grow again,or stop the pests, keep the souls in check and decrease the sea level. Hope only made them last longer to rebuild Greece but 90% of the damage is around and it's still uninhabitable
Man, the difference between this kratos and the one at the end of ragnorok is astounding
Don't forget, Raganarok Kratos is centuries later after regretting and learning to control his rage
@@kerrymurphy6990 its lame
I’m hoping this kratos will return maybe his son and the Norse gods will betray him
@@sirrealism7300 your lame

24:19 this is the same person that tried to spare heimdal😂
The Poseidon introduction was a pure true royal entrance that made my senses chill to ice like that is the peak of a power move and I can't get my head round how good that is
Kratos is so crazy in these games, he uses a severed head as a flashlight 😂😂😂
Such a kind and peaceful guy. I hope he has a strong bond with his father and brothers.
Some people don’t realize how strong and fast kratos is
In Greek mythology, Kratos was the divine personification of strength. Sooo, checks out
@@Starman256Kratos is not a real god.
The developers themselves stated that they named him Kratos because it means Strength in Greek Mythology.
And it was a coincidence since they figured out Cratus 1 year later after God Of war 1.
And he was actually inspired by Perseus and Heracles.
God of war 3 is a masterpiece
💯👌🏼👌🏼
It has plot holes enough to carry Megatron's warship
@@grandcanyon-fu9zt No one gives a shit about that when its so fucking awesome
@@grandcanyon-fu9zt that bad? i never played the older games
@@aarontrupiano9328 it doesn't make sense how cronos was still in torment when kratos reversed time and saves them + they do remember the events of the first game like it was not retconned, or the unnecessary convenient betrayal of Gaia... the writers just an excuse for kratos to kill everyone because it's the end of the Greek saga, and let's not forget how he destroyed sparta after he supposedly saved it and he doesn't care either..
“Of all the lives I should be worried about Helios. MINE is not one of them”
definitely one of my favorite harsh quotes of all time
Damn the last bits with Pandora were actually so touching??? When he opened the box and her talk of hope came up that was great. I'm only a new GoW fan as I got into it from GoW 4-5 but damn this is so cool. I think the titans are my favorite too, Cronos being my absolute favorite boss cuz of his character design. His and Hades' character designs are so goddamn cool like TT. Also I'm sure Atreus would love to hear about how his father impaled himself with a giant magical sword after he destroyed an entire mythology
