Great video, thanks a lot for getting into all of the details!!! According to google the Gen7 SL frameset weight is: 1050g - 56cm (frame-only, painted) 418g (fork-only, painted), which is very close to the new one. On the other side, on the new one they sacrificed the looks! Gen7, which I own, looks like a rocket ship, while the new one looks worse compared to Orca Aero or Canyon, but it's a lot more expensive. I would personally wouldn't upgrade, as the new one is a downgrade!
Yes this also a mid-spec variant. The 2017 Emonda was especially light (even more so the SLR) but this bike would still be faster over a long ride regardless of additional weight when compared to the equivalent 2017. FWIW, the 2017 SL 6 weighed in one ounce shy of 17lbs. So not much weight gain for way more overall bike.
Removing the 60 is a huge mistake. The short front end on the 58 is going to force me into a longer stem and put me in danger of toe overlap but the jump to the 62 has the top tube so high I can't ride it. I was 100% going to get this bike but now I am forced to pass. I wonder if Trek's bean counters are going to factor the lost sales into their brilliant cost cutting move.
over 100 million in order of the gen 8 and sold 10 million on the first day. Just put a smaller stem on and your issue is solved. Do a P1 build and pick your stem length.
Can someone help me I'm doubting to buy the exact the same bike as shown here same color, the other one is a Scott addict Gravel with 2x up front power meter and 2 sets wheels and tires road and off road, I love off road but I'm doubting that I will be doing it enough...
I see what they were trying to do here, but they ruined/ended two perfectly good models to make a bastard child of a bike. Too heavy to be an Emonda, too soft to be a real Madone.
For sure. As someone with a motorcycle license that’s a thing I used to think before I got one but after getting one I have more fun on a bike so I know where my money would go
Yeah, these bikes are expensive. But people who spend this kind of money on expensive bikes already have some kind of reliable transportation. People who can't afford them don't even know these bikes exist.
Checked it out at the local Trek shop recently and was stunned how impressive and beautiful it is when you actually see it live.
Looks great and nice clear and concise review
I got the last Emonda Sl6 purchase this year in color red and black. Its the same feature and wheels
Not a fan of this change, they just made a heavy Emonda and a slow Madone to decrease manufacturing costs.
What a weird looking bike!
Honestly, I don't like that matte color. I liked the previous gen more. Way more.
There are lots of cool colours available at different levels.
Merging the two and limiting the sizes available was a cost cutting method.
They haven't passed the reduced manufacturing costs to the customer
Once I ride more outside this year, this will be on my to try list for 2025 - plus gotta save some money.
the di2 cable in the chain-stay ruins the whole bike for me.
exactly why is it have to be like that, i think on more expensive models its out from the back junction.

I did some research:
Madone SLR Gen 7 Disc Frameset
1050g - 56cm (frame-only, painted)
418g (fork-only, painted)
Madone SL Disc Gen 7 Frameset
1200g - 56cm (frame-only, painted)
476g (fork-only, painted)
Madone SLR Gen 8 Frameset
796g - ML (frame-only, painted)
350g (fork-only, painted)
Madone SL Gen 8 Frameset
1054g - ML (frame-only, painted)
363g (fork-only, painted)
I'm really curious why they went with the ugly cable routing for the sl models
My next bike
Heavy considering this is now Trek's climbing bike. Emonda cancelled. I have a 2017 Trek Emonda that comes in at 14 lbs ready to ride.

@@Jamesthebikeguyif I understood this bike is heavier than the 2017 , but is faster? How do ?
@@JitinMisra Aero gains. The 2020 and previous versions of Emonda are not aero optimised frames.
The Gen6 2022 Madone with that oversized “TREK” logo was the best looking Madone.

Hmmm? Sounds like a fit would be in order regardless of what bike you choose.

@@Jamesthebikeguy might be a silly question , how flexible do you have to be to ride such bikes comfortably ?
The new sizes are a nightmare. I’ve been through 3 sizes of this exact bike. We’ve settled on a M/L but I still need adjustments
I wished for a drop seat stay emonda 😢
Pls review the new Chisel FS
The large Trek logo is not a vibe otherwise the design is very nice!
Not a big fan of the tan / brown on the rubber but despite that shes a beauty!
I think the emonda and madone both needed one more interaction or generation before they became one
What would you have liked to see?
Imagine paying a monthly bike note 😭😂🤣
I don't think too many people are taking out loans for a superbike.
I paid cash for mine

I have this exact bike and I love it
New sram on old bike I think you it might be 100g lighter. I would rather have the older version.
2025? Came out in June 2024!!!
Boy are you sharp! I wonder what you say about car model years...
Disappointingly heavy for the price tag. Seems like a general problem for Trek on their lower end frames.
I entered the giveaway at the trek store hope I win
8.3kgs.....
Less sizes that fit a wider range of riders for more money? I'll pass.
The gen7 madone was much nicer.
How so?
When you weight a bike, show both pounds and kg, so normal people can understand it too. It's literally a button push.
"Normal" people should be able to do simple math. Divide it by 2.2
I see what they were trying to do here, but they ruined/ended two perfectly good models to make a bastard child of a bike. Too heavy to be an Emonda, too soft to be a real Madone.
Horrible bike
Haters who can’t afford one lol
@@trentonscism No, just find it plain ugly. For this price I'd rather buy from any other brands
A beautiful bike for sure, but you could also likely buy a pretty nice used motorcycle for the same price

Tbh you can buy a nice car with the price of a premium motorcycle too. Also you can buy a nice house with the price of a premium car too
@@yukiko_5051bikes are inherently simple though. Cars, motorcycles etc are much more complex and often warrant their cost. Bikes don't.
