My favourite Nocturne of Chopin (as a huge Chopin lover). I know it so well and never get tired listening to it. But not played by everyone. Only a few weeks ago I heard a pianist unfamiliar to me till then, Pavel Kolesnikov, play it in the Wigmore Hall in London and he blew me (and the entire audience) away with it and had me in tears. He played it at exactly that slow, heartbreaking pace, and he started in pianissimo, leading into the most perfectly executed long term crescendo that I ever heard in concert till he reached the first climax in forte minutes later. It was the first time I had the strong impression of Chopin playing himself on stage (fun fact, the pianist almost shares Chopins birthday). But he has not recorded the Nocturne (yet). That's how I found your clip, I yearned for that slow pace again! It's not the same as Kolesnikov, ofc, but still. Thanks! Who is the pianist of this recording, please?
Wow you have done this one! I must have missed it a few weeks ago. Great work as always! I was looking forward to this one because there's another one on RUclips but it had tons of audio clipping.
Am I going tone-deaf or is that a bit lower than the original notes? Also, please leave the romantic pieces alone from the slowed down +reverb bs the 14 y/o girls always listen to; I beg of you.
It's actually called the pitch, and not "tone", and yes, it is no wonder lower than the original because this one is slowed down. You can choose not to listen to it if you dislike them, just to let you know.
5:15 what a fucking beautiful melody

I love it ❤🥺
Whose recording is this please?
You can also look Leo Sirota's op 48 no 1 interpretation. In my opinion its the best interpretation for this piece.
