Well we don’t know how nick treated her when the cameras were off; I was in a narc marriage and left after 6 years, everything I did pissed him off, so now I ask my husband this a lot, it sucks, cuz my husband knows what I went thru and I don’t ever make him mad
Jessica was literally spending her OWN money for work clothes - shows, appearances, interviews. Nick gets thousand dollar arcade games, the hummer, golf memberships, sports memorabilia, and you never once see her nag him. She encourages him!!
Maybe but she works her BUTT off for her money (Cali Kimg sheets are pricey) and doesn’t say a word about his two life size arcade games at $3,000 a piece. .Also,😴sleep > everything
True but the Hummer was part of a promotional deal. Artists made an awards appearance and they got to drive a General Motors vehicle of their choice and Nick chose the Hummer.
He was clearly joking because he knew she didn't actually like the arcade games. He was jokingly trying to justify getting it. Ultimately they just shouldn't have made such a big deal about any of it. They still paid their bulls and to this day I haven't ever heard of either of them being bankrupt or anything...
Nick helping Jessica carry in bags after a day of shopping is exactly my husband after a day of shopping with my mom and I! 🤣 except he really doesn’t care or ask 🤷🏽♀️🤣 I just tell him it’s for the house to make the house look good and for us to live comfortably
Well I spend close to 2000$ on frette sheets in 2019 and I don’t regret buying them cause the quality is amazing and incomparable and I think spending on quality bedding is a good investment as long as you don’t ruin them. I buy 7 sets of bedding every 2 to 4 years, I still keep using the old ones in between.
At least the sheets were something he would get to enjoy as well...the arcade games were just for his benefit. He probably never played them after a few times either.
I think the reason their marriage didn't last is because they were at different points in their lives he was at the marriage point and she was a lot younger
The golf one cost $200 and the carnival one cost $85. A fork lift is $100 per hour. Jessica spent 2,000 in the store, then another 1400 on sheets. See the difference?
She spent $1400 on luxury bedsheets, but how much did Nick spend on those Arcade Games! I am betting those two Arcade Games were pricey too. At least bedsheets are practical.
Nah, bed sheets are bed sheets. You can get really nice ones for under $100. Those arcade games are usually extremely valuable, and have resale value. The value only tends to go up, so he could definitely get his money back if he needed to.
He asked her in one episode if he could buy a Hummer. Those things are gas guzzlers and expensive AF. He drove a Benz, and had expensive taste too. You should see his home now. His new wife has just as much Louis Vuitton as Jessica if not more. He was always acting like he was cheap but he liked to spend money just as much.
Yes but u can get sheets for far less which do the exact same job and I'm talking good quality that's like saying he bought a car how much was that u can't compare to random products together
@Satans Lair At least the sheets will be for the both of them to sleep comfortably while the arcade games? What's it for? What kind of thinking you have! Obviously too idiot.
@Satans Lair exactly. I know how much my husband appreciates his game time. Just like I like to shop or do certain things for me time. 1001 for bedsheets is just plain stupid.
Heather G the people around her like her business partners, publicist, advisers, etc. knew what they were doing in marketing and selling her brand, Jessica just had a pretty face and some singing skills, her brand appeal skyrocketed with this show, she was very lucky she met Nick, MTV, and did this show, otherwise she'd be like any other teen pop singer
See, I’m not annoyed at Jessica’s spending, she’s working hard and earning it, so fairly she’s enjoying the fruits of her labour! It’s not given to it, she’s working hard!!
The plant is a symbol of their marriage -- Jessica says it's time to get rid of it, while Nick says it's going to have a comeback and to give it time! LOL. Sad though :/
Her father insisted she not sign a prenup. When they got married Nick was the more successful of the two and worth more. I bet they didn’t think about the reversal if they were to divorce.
Rebecca Boatman I think your probably right but I think that was probably his secondary motivation...I think Jessica’s dad didn’t want the marriage to happen and was hoping that insisting on no Prenup would make Nick not marry Jessica
He treated her so bad like she was a toddler. He had to have her but he wanted to change everything about her.... He didn’t realize he wasn’t broke in Cincinnati anymore & he was with a star who was making all the $$$$....
Yup! He loved the idea of the "forbidden fruit" and then once he got it, realized he never really liked who she was. You want to marry a virgin, you might get more of an innocent woman at first.
At 1:00, did her mother seriously ask the cashier if jess got a discount?! Isn't jessica a celebrity who's driving a benz?? What about the "regular" customer who drives a honda?? Give that girl a discount
Your Ego ..for being a celebrity they make plenty of money.plus their only human why should they get special treatment anymore than they already do? Seriously
From what I can gather, Nick and his brother grew up doing chores, they were taught the value of money, to live within their meams, to cook , do laundry, etc. Jessica had zero responsibility. Her mom did every thing for her. Thats why as an adult she's so unprepared on her own and for married life. Yes, she became successful at singing but she for the longest time was not being successful at some of the most basic things an adult should know how to do. That s why they clash alot over stuff.
I always laugh at this part where Jess says she doesn't sleep good on the sheets she has now - That's just what I would have said when I was in trouble for spending too much money - now I just lie and say everything was less money that it was.
Here's the thing.... I adore Jessica and I really think that Nick was a controlling prick BUT, $1400 for sheets??? Damn. Seems a tad wasteful , but then again, I'm not wealthy lol
Well she worked her butt off since her early teens to get a recording contract. she deserves to be privileged lmao. Her parents should have still taught her the basics of life and taking care of a home.
jessica is so cute she kind of reminds me of this fragile ditzy soft little thing, needs a lot of explaining and understanding. like ooo dont touch her she might break. but i love her. she is genuine and trys to make nick happy all the time. she is a real woman any man would be lucky to have her
I don't think Nick was necessarily mean toward Jessica; I think he expected too much of her, knowing how she was raised and that she was immature for her age to begin with. All the same, I think they did love each other, and eventually grew apart. Their age gap (7 years) and opposite upbringings might have had a hand in it too. And let's not forget Dadager Joe. He did NOT want them to marry in the first place.
not that 7 years is a huge age gap but when youre 18 and the guy is 25 and you marry at 22 and hes 29 then yeah it makes a difference because of where you are in life; a 30 year old and 37 year old - fine.
Remember they couldn’t even live together beforehand because she was saving herself, plus her age, plus she was working all those years and didnt know one single thing about keeping house. Had they lived together before marriage it could have prepared her. I definitely think the producers wanted drama and amped up the differences between them too. She was so young and green, seems like a totally different person now.
Real quick for everyone asking about the discount... Her mom was also a manager for her and her husband was an EP on the show. They purposely shot and aired the names of the shops she was in these particular days. The discount was probably prearranged and mom was making sure it was applied. This sort of thing happens all the time, in business.
When I was 22 I didn't know how to do anything either.... I do now though. Sometimes it just takes people a lil longer. My mom stayed home and always wanted to do everything for me. And now I'm a mom. Lol
Tara Weiss when I was 9 I knew how to wash clothes, turn on a washer and dryer, cook, clean and go shopping 🛒 don't know how 22 years don't know how to do any of that stuff
Tara Weiss exactly. I've been doing laundry since I was like 12, but once you move out on your own it's shocking how many college kids DON'T know how to do the basic household stuff.
smokey kool-aid It depends on how your parents raised you. My boss doesn't make her son do anything. He's 15 and doesn't do dishes, doesn't do laundry. Jessica said in season 1 that she had a record deal at 14, so maids and hotel staff would do her laundry. She never had to do it on her own.
I truly think he was upset he couldn't control her with money, she had so much more than him, so he had to nitpick everything she did. Glad she ended up kicking his ass to the curb.
I was only 18 years old when I married my husband he was 25 it took a lot of patience and love from him towards me to know that I was still a kid taking on a huge roll. 8 Year’s later I’ve learned ALOT and still is...nick was just mean towards Jessica I feel bad for her. But now it seems like they both are good and happy.

Breaks my heart she says don't be mad etc Nick can be a jerk Jess has remained to be who she truly is overcoming her struggling and still saying he taught her how to love
You guys forget that she may be the big earner now, but when this was filmed, he was a big star too. This show basically catapulted her career very quickly.
I think she had more money going into the marriage since she was a solo artist. She did make comments on having more money than he did and I don't think it sat with him well.
I was w my ex husband 6 long yrs divocred bc he was cheating ect. And i married him be4 living togethwe. I lived with and dated my husband for 3 yrs before we got together. Married 1 yr. And happy
She buys $1400 sheets but doesn't know how to operate a washing machine! This marriage was doomed from the beginning. They were not compatible. Two complete opposites.
In a perfect world, he would have complemented her innocence with his experience. He could have SHOWED her how to use the washer. He could have SHOWED her how to cook certain things. He KNEW she was coming straight out of her daddy's home. How did he expect her to automatically know everything?? She spent the last few years making her singing career a reality - that didn't leave a lot of time for a home ec lesson! I didn't know how to use a washing machine when I first moved in with my now-husband, and how, I do all the laundry and the cooking (which I actually enjoy!). Things can be learned.
Amie Lawson Wellllll...did you have the kind of career she was chasing after since she was like 12 years old or whatever??? Probably not... there was pressure on her to provide for the family, getting gigs, record labels, she traveled a ton...there’s a lot of factors that go in...everyone is different, everyone’s lives are different, everyone’s “normal” is different...she has been running a billion dollar empire for like 10 years or more, obviously she was on her way to conquering oh so much...
I swear every episode she says "don't be mad" 😂😂😂
salvychick83 bless her heart lol
I noticed that too.
Heart-breaking
Yes because she’s selfish
Well we don’t know how nick treated her when the cameras were off; I was in a narc marriage and left after 6 years, everything I did pissed him off, so now I ask my husband this a lot, it sucks, cuz my husband knows what I went thru and I don’t ever make him mad

Agree, but what she spent on the sheets was ridiculous!

when your married , there is nothing just his or just hers. Marital money.
This show was the best thing ever made on television
I miss these times and the filming style 😔😪 they were much simpler times... sigh I hate 2020
I hate 2024 too.
me too
Her face when she asks "you chose this game for me?" Just shows how little they got each other and how different they were

nick: its making a comeback
hahahaha
Laughed SO hard at that!
She's more famous then nick and I think he knows that
8:02 when a teacher is trying to teach me a math problem!
It seems like he s emotionally abusive. Just saying. ✌🏻
Not jessica spending more money knowing that she already spent almost.3k in a day. ICON
I want to go shopping with Jess ;( But only if she buys, I can't afford what she spends ;) Love her!
Nick is too cheap for Jessica. Now Jessica’s business is worth billions of dollars.
THIS is why you live together before marriage...
Yes, I will not marry any man before we have lived together lol. this show is a perfect example on that
I was w my ex husband 6 long yrs divocred bc he was cheating ect. And i married him be4 living togethwe. I lived with and dated my husband for 3 yrs before we got together. Married 1 yr. And happy
I get why they divorced! I mean u can only deal with stupidity for so long?? 🤣🤷🏻♀️
I can't with the early 2000s pants everyone is wearing! wide leg and dragging on the floor. But that's the way we liked it!
I just bought sheets the other day with a coupon at Macy's and they were 50.00
I got married at 22 and knew how to handle a household. Age is no excuse.
She wasn’t taught anything
Amie Lawson Wellllll...did you have the kind of career she was chasing after since she was like 12 years old or whatever??? Probably not... there was pressure on her to provide for the family, getting gigs, record labels, she traveled a ton...there’s a lot of factors that go in...everyone is different, everyone’s lives are different, everyone’s “normal” is different...she has been running a billion dollar empire for like 10 years or more, obviously she was on her way to conquering oh so much...
@5:24 "broken...?" She reminds me of Dennis the menace with how funny and innocent she is lol.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 they are hilarious!!
