For hauling freight, I would recommend running a 40' trailer and a mega cab is more likely to get you in trouble with being over the 65' length laws of most states. Unless you convert the truck to a tractor. Remove the bed, install a big fuel tank, tool boxes and fenders and you will be much better off. The problem would be selling the truck after registering it as a tractor as I believe you cannot register it back to a pickup afterwards. Glad to hear you had a generally good feeling about the Ford. You will likely wind up with a Ram, but that's the manufacturer you know and prefer. Just keep in mind that when it comes to business decisions the cost, reliability and downtime potential should be your primary concerns. I kinda hope you lease another Ford as that will give you more experience to help you finally decide which way to go.
Megacab is shorter than a crew cab long bed by a foot so any would I have any issue? My last setup was 73ft. Not a single officer ever gave me an issue and I was inspected a lot
@@CPSteveMiller My daily driver (the roll-over wreck with my cab on it) is a 6.5 also. So my utility bed with the lift gate I installed on it won't fit on it. But overall it's a nice size for most of my needs. Sure miss having that lift gate though!
@@CPSteveMiller mega cab is shorter wheel base. But hard to pull any old style 5th wheels. You need a slider hitch ...you lose around 12 inches between the hitch and cab.
credit in life is everything. You cant better yourself without a good score. if you got a bad score, your bottom of the barrel and everyone can take advantage of you with ultra high interest rates. I got a 760 and my best rate for new ram financing was 8.99 and that used to be high, but i think that's just about average on a new vehicle finance. my credit score is not the best, ran into alot of debt when i left the military, but after literally years of credit repairing, this is where i stand. keep at it and your score will get better. use your cards, keep the balances low, my discover has a 11500 credit line, but in credit terms, that means i can only use about 3000 of that before i break the 30% usage limit. good luck.
I've had to use cash for years. I wouldn't say you can't better yourself. I've still been able to pull 140k a year without credit. Yeah, I'd love to double or triple it, but it's still pretty good coming from nothing 5 years ago.
@@CPSteveMiller you can better yourself with cash, but, not a lot of people can pay cash for everything…. This is where a credit score comes in. You actually get better rates with insurance, with a better credit score too.

The paddle latch fails quicker when the cargo (straps & binders) ride directly on the latch from the inside. I've replaced a bunch. I finally used a 1/4" x 3" steel between the latch and cargo. My company leases all their semi trucks starting 6 years ago and the fuel savings almost covers the payment but we have lift axles and super single tires and average over 8mpg we also do the maintenance to. They know what their doing as they've hauled stuff since horses.
PVC Pipe loads are scary, you can't crank them down tight . I had to jackknife a load really tight one time and the pipe shifted as the trailer leaned over. Lucky I had it strapped good or it would of fell off. Have to x strap them from shifting one way or the other.

I have seen so many people have problems with these homes. Anything after 2020 is made to poor standards. I get to speak to the guys who build them. They are GARBAGE. You obviously know nothing about me. My mother was in the industry for the longest time. She was building houses probably before you were even born.
I think they look the best out of all 3. The Ferd's are ugly as sin but practical and have plenty of power. The looks and exhaust brake are Ford's downside.
Why would he? You noticed a issue, you pulled over, fixed the issue. Some people claim they get tickets while tightening straps. I find if you are correcting issues early, they ignore you.
I've been pulled over many times for nothing. NOTHING. Then I'd walk away with a passed level 1 inspection. It's a waste of time. Why should I sit on the side of the highway for 45 minutes risking my life so a dot officer can "do his job"?
Bro that's the USA everything is cheaply made and over priced... Number 1 focus is based around profit/greed and not quality. Those new 100k escalates have all kinds of issues.

I got my company, llc, dot numbers, yes. Insurance is 320 a month leasing on. 2300 a month with my own authority. That's because the insurance company only does business in Tennessee or Montana, not pa. So by me using my own authority my overhead goes up even more. No sense in paying 2k more a month on insurance when I don't have to. I also get 80% of every load and I don't run hard. Now I don't pay maintenance. Crunching the numbers it would cost me more under my own authority than to lease on with the way I run since I have shop stuff taking up my other time.
Bullshit to be honest. In 4 years of running commercial I have never gotten a seat belt violation. Hell I don't even fail inspections.. I was passing my level 1s like crazy. So much so the last company I was leased under ditched the bonus for passing them 😂 North Carolina was always on a roll.

How is power an fuel mileage in Ford compared to ram
So much more power. Fuel mileage was lacking but I think that was the bad air filter. Not sure it was the truck's fault
Here in Canada a driver must have a strap every 6 feet of his load length.
