I just repaired one of this LK80.. before this cannot turn on..and restore back to life.. but now.. can turn on but in test mode only... arghh gotta find solution on fixing it back..
I've never seen an LK-80 for sale anytime over the last couple of years anywhere but Japan. This is actually one of the more advanced key-lighting keyboards out there with 73 keys, a bass reflex system, and a backlit screen, all of which was quite rare for a keyboard like this at the time. I can't imagine how expensive this was when it was brand new. The fact that you even managed to get one of these for I'm assuming 50 USD as you said is nothing short of outstanding in my opinion. I'd also like to say that the key-lighting can be used for all kinds of things besides learning (which I'm sure you know, but I don't want people to get the idea that that's all that it's for). I've made a video covering various pop songs in the LK-43 style, and I used the key-lighting as part of the visuals that complement the music. In addition, the key-lighting even helped me realise that I got some notes wrong during development, so it's actually more useful than most people think. I do understand, though, that not everyone is the same. Art is in the eye of the beholder as they say, and tools and features can only be as worthy as the user makes them out to be. As for your video, Glynn, I enjoyed watching it. I also like what you did in the ending. It kind of made it feel like something I'd watch on a video cassette.
Good day Glynn. The first patch you pulled up is very cool. I love the sounds of the LK series. They are for absolute beginners, but the patches are rich & full, and the loops don't suck. It sounds great through pedals, too. I have an LK-100, probably the successor to the LK-80. The LK-100 is full of a hundred songs, mainly Christmas songs, and when the holidays come, if I have company, I set up the LK-100 on a stand in the corner, and let it autoplay, and everyone loves it. It's unobtrusive and very festive. I'm not sure but I think we can load in our own midi files? As a controller it makes me miss bend & mod Wheels, and the microphone input is underwhelming at best 😂 In a pinch it's a whole P.A.!! Mine was free, can't complain about the price. Great editing, sir! Thanks for all you do. I wish you all the very best in the coming new year and always.
I don't have this keyboard anymore but I can assure you that the best replacement to buy is a multi-adapter. I made a video about this problem right here: ruclips.net/video/31zCN5pu56k/видео.html
Glad you enjoyed watching it. It's long gone from the studio sorry, so I can't complete that request. You never know when I might get another one though :)
It has some respectable sounds on board .I have a casio Ctk 6250 ,i use mostly has a control keyboard for playing vst synths these days .The one crazy thing about the sequencer on the 6250 is you get loads of edit functions copy paste quantise etc, but they left out the important punch in record ,so say you have recorded 15 bars on a track and want to punch in on overdub at bar 16 , you have to play the song from the beginning and wait till bar 16 ,and hope you get it right or start that all over again .Its frustrating they left off one of the most important features .Nice demo of that Casio anyway .
Yes, things like this are a common problem with Casio and it was never worse than on the latest CT-X series, which is virtually un-usable for serious song construction. Hopefully they'll do a big overhaul of their interface styling, it's long over-due!
Given that Casio's 73-key keyboards have a range of C1-C7, I would prefer that to Yamaha's, which have a range of E1-E7. I mean, most 73-key ones seem to have a range of E1-E7, but I actually like C1-C7 better. But too bad Casio's 73-key keyboards are fading away :(
I had one of these very, very briefly last year. Bought it came with a "free" two-tier stand. I kept the stand and passed the keyboard off to someone else. Build around the same PCM sample set that Casio has crammed into their home keyboards for the last 20 years it was a pretty underwhelming and unattractive instrument. Exciting the way, say, a sidewalk is exciting.
And here we are paying hundreds of dollars for those old Casio phase distortion keyboards and they keeps releasing those cheap crappy sounding keyboards with a resale price of 10 dollars.
Casio CDP-130BKC5 Digital Piano with 88 Weighted Touch is in a good will store nere Me, I said I was interested but it's only got 10 sounds. I might work as a midi keyboard but only with USB so I'd be better off just buying a Aturia or Akai 88 keyboard.
Funny ya say the LK80 is the best you can get for keylighting Casios(tongue in cheek comment I assume), but I have the LK300TV which is more advanced yet with TV output, SD card slot, sequencer, touch response keys and USB midi. Funny enough, no power supply so I still can not test it lol! So it could be a DUD :-P But the feature set LOOKS promising.
I never understood why Casio insisted on drowning every sound with sooo much reverb. It sounds like it’s being played in a church! Those patches as you say are somewhat uninspiring, maybe 12 bit quality as there’s a lack of dynamic range and probably a fairly low sample rate (

Thanks for this interesting comment Gabriel, I’m glad you liked the video :)
Great to see a classic 73-key system from the late-'90s. This is what I waited to see.
Sir where is the sistain button on the keyboard?? I have my keyboard here same as yours, but i can't find the sustain button

Thanks G. I can certainly visualize the Christmas setting you’ve described there :) Happy new year!
@@gearfacts Thanks :)
Had it, and miss it. Great feel to the keys. Good for remembering riffs on playback
Yep, it’s the archetypal Casio :)
I have one can you help me with the configuration I want to know what tone to use for cumbia merengue and salsa please
Press RHYTHM and then enter a number that matches those styles on the list. hen press PLAY. You can also use +/- to hear the beats in sequence.
what tone to put on the lk80 casio keyboard what number to play merengue and cumbia
does it have split and layer?
Hi, I do have the exact same keyboard, but lost the power cord. Would you let me know the adapter model number?

I think it's called "Sweet Pad" or 'Space Pad" ...something like that :)

Yes that's true. I haven't seen a new WK model in many years...
I hate it when the lowest note is E1. My LH keeps falling off the keyboard; C1-C7 is much better!
I think it's the same sounds as the CTK-611 so the sound
quality is actually not that bad. The ZPI and AHL sounds
are a vast improvement though.
Absolutely ;)
A2 sound chip ?
@@Siver0944 I think it's 16 bit PCM.
The WK-1800 has a somewhat better sound (albeit the piano is a bit weird), but it at least has better drum sounds and a few other instruments
@@Siver0944 Actually this keyboard is A2.
