28:09 The bot has just been employing the human strategy of frantically shuffling tiles and mumbling "there has to be something here" while you hope they don't see their winning bingo in time. It truly passes the Turing test
Hi Mack, as a CSW UK player I considered stopping watching your videos to avoid confusion. I wish I knew how to quit you but I just find your videos too intriguing so I guess I'll have to continue to watch :). Hopefully one day they'll unite the dictionaries.
Thanks Paul! I totally get where you're coming from with the dictionary confusion, I think we can all agree that dictionary unification would be great for the game (which dictionary specifically to unify to maybe more up for debate, but I think the principle of unifying is not). But in any case I really appreciate your continued support of my channel! :)
Definitions of Interesting Words Played in Game 12: CRYPT [20 pts] (noun) - a vault or other chamber wholly or partly underground, especially a vault under the main floor of a church [from a Greek-derived Latin word] ↳ TIVY (adverb) - with great speed, a huntsman's word or sound [of imitative origin] MEGABIT [74 pts] (noun) - in computing, one million (10^6, or 1,000,000) bits or 1,000 kilobits TWANGED [26 pts] (verb) - past tense of "twang"; to give forth the quick harsh ringing sound of or as if of the plucked string of a bow or a musical instrument JOUNCE [48 pts] (verb) - to fall, drop, or bounce so as to shake [of unknown origin] HEDGERS [85 pts] (noun) - plural of "hedger"; one that plants or trims hedges AVIATOR [63 pts] (noun) - the operator or pilot of an airplane [French, from Latin] EQUID [75 pts] (noun) - one of the Equidae, a family of perissodactyl ungulate mammals consisting of the horses, asses, and zebras and various extinct related animals, all recent members being distinguished from the other existing perissodactyls by their comparatively slender and agile build, hypsodont grinding teeth with the grooves between the ridges filled with cement, reduced ulna and fibula fused with the radius and tibia respectively to form in turn a rigid slender forearm and shank, and especially by the reduction of each foot to a single enlarged functional middle digit upon the tip of which they walk, the other digits being entirely wanting except for rudimentary splint bones of the metapodials of the second and fourth SEABOARD [74 pts] (noun) - the shore or border of the land adjacent to the sea ASEA [20 pts] (adverb) - at sea, seaward COOEE [9 pts] (noun) - (chiefly Australian) a cry to attract attention or give warning [from Dharug, an Australian Aboriginal language] ILIA [10 pts] (noun) - plural of "ilium"; the dorsal and upper one of the three bones composing either lateral half of the pelvis being in man broad and expanded above and narrower below where it joins with the ischium and pubis to form part of the acetabulum [from Latin] KIMONO [34 pts] (noun) - a loose wraparound robe with wide sleeves and a broad sash traditionally worn by Japanese men and women [from Japanese] TRINKETS [158 pts] (noun) - plural of "trinket"; a small ornament (as a jewel or ring) that is of little value
On the (C)OOLIE/(C)OOEE turn, I was thinking about 9J (P)OLIO to keep the Es, and still set up an S hook. It does have a vowel-heavy leave, but the pool had gotten consonant-heavy by then. Also, I was a fan of ILIA over the AIOLIs, but I didn't analyze the position in as much depth as you did.
POLIO looks reasonable -- I do worry a bit about keeping EEO when I'm floating more vowels with POLIO, but the consonant-heaviness of the pool does help a little bit. Tough position for sure!
BestBot is likely running an endgame solver when the bag is 1 tile or empties, which is different code path and significantly slower than the NN, I assume.
I think I like exchanging over COOEE, it's only 8 points and the board sucks, you're not going to fall behind that much more by giving the bot a turn. With exchanging you give yourself a chance at an actual good rack (instead of keeping I into a tile bag that's 33% Is), and burn through 4 less tiles to give yourself more time too. If the bot makes a tiny blocking play to deny the spot over the D of TANGED it's basically passed the turn back and you can *then* open somewhere with a leave that has slightly more hope than ILO
Hmm, interesting -- can't argue with that. Would probably keep E, maybe even EE or EO given how consonant-heavy the pool is. These kinds of positions are so hard...
For that COOEE play, I think you have to draw the S and the Z to win, but I agree that's the right play. Same idea next move, I think you have to play AIOLI to 015 and pray.

Yep, truly some next level stuff we're witnessing here 😂
Mack on Wheel of Fortune: I'd like to sell a vowel

not further splitting the dictionaries would be a good start. looking at you wgpo
It’s better than the opposite

BestBot being toxic that's crazy
rough game, proud i saw trinkets before you mentioned it hah. you got this mack!!!
Nice, and thanks so much for watching!

Great comment.
omg that definition of EQUID is like a whole treatise on horse anatomy 😂😂

Let's go Mac! I hope you get this one
Thanks!
I'm curious what the algorithms are that would cause the Bot to tank for almost three minutes 🤔
that was a nice game even though it blew out at the end.

You had ORYX there, though the leave is a bit messy
Ah good point! I would go with OXY though for the exact reason you mentioned, the R really helps the AEI leave a lot for the cost of just 2 points

Queue all of the "We would expect this continued string of bad luck with truly random draws" comments 😂
Macondo slow rolling again!
HI MACK❤
Hi!
