Like putting the Vocaloid and Sekai versions aside, for example Eve's Dramaturgy cover, vbs archive Akitoya version BANGERS. Fixer from Actors (I'm not even a fan of actors) BANGER. And Jiena, Akina and Hii-Chan's villain, also BANGERS. The songs do the most work lol.

I’ve been a Vocaloid fan since grade school, and I think a good majority of the Sekai covers are superior. The only thing I would’ve added to this list is ID Smile cuz while I love both versions, I prefer the Sekai version more. I just feel like most of these songs get an extra kick to them when sung by humans.
Oh, I have different opinion of ID Smile! I actually prefer the vs ver better, because toa's tuning is just so,, amazing,,, in this song man

@@satansmascara9756 I think your partly correct. with the right person any voicebank can sound good. but from what I've heard these NT vbs are super difficult to use and even when you do tune them good they still have that nasally tone that sounds terrible. I'm also sure mixing plays a big part in it, which FOR SOME reason some sekai covers aren't mixed that well. :'(
I wanna point out that original songs are kinda meant to be sung by the sekai VAs rather then vocaloids so that’s why most of them sound better in sekai ver than the vocaloid ver
niigo & vbs songs are the kinds where the tone in the voice really matters. the vsingers monotone singing during high notes really doesn't compare to mafuyu's high notes during bug where you can feel her frustration, or an's powerful high notes in awake now during the prechorus building up to the drop in the chorus. it just doesn't hit the same sometimes

i can agree with that, but on the other hand you have aishite aishite aishite which i find more impactful with kikuo's Miku- from how shrill and how powerful it is... the sekai ver doesn't feel like they're putting as much soul into it i guess? I might be biased because kikuo was my first exposure to vocaloid and probably my all time favourite artist too, so I was a little shocked that aishite aishite aishite made it to this list

As a fan of the bitter choco decoration i find the vocaloid version fitting better because it feels more hollow and the cover softer and less fitting to the songs vibe, but thats probably due to my view of the original mv that has been attached to it

I've heard too many ppl use MMJ's cover of Melty Land Nightmare as a way to compare it to the original and to hate on Harumaki Gohan's tuning of Miku and it makes me sad tbh. The light, delicate tuning of Miku is so well-done in the original imo
Also I think the key changes that happen between VS and Sekai versions make for interesting conversation when comparing them 👀
Sometimes in cases like Dappo Rock and Meltyland Nightmare, the lowered key for the Sekai version makes it feel like there's a loss of intensity/emotion just from being so used to the original.
And other times like with Traffic Jam I prefer the Sekai version bc the original's key, while higher, sounds kinda off in a way that isn't pleasing to hear imo.
Agreed! Like the cover is really cute, but the lack of High pitched Harumaki Miku, kinda kills the intensity the original had, at least for me. But I'm a weirdo and kinda like the High pitched/hard sounding tuning of alot of Vocaloid songs (with exceptions ofc...looking at you Charles).

I was so happy to see Salamander. I just didn’t like the original version, but the one with Ena and Akito just hits so well. They have such raw emotion in their voice for a song that’s about cupped noodles

I think my issue with many covers or commissioned songs is that in alot of them, either the virtual singers' tuning sounds awful/bland to me, or you cant even hear them at all over the human singers/they get singled out of the groups in a way that makes it sound awkard.
idk if that makes sense? but like, they either need to start mixing them with the original vocals more often (like the album version of Bring it on, why isnt that version in the game!!!) or hire people with experience using the software. There are lots of people that exclusively tune VoiceSynths for other producers, rather then make music.
Also better mixing. Please...

I get it! I have favorite covers for a number of the songs in this video, both in terms of "hey these ProSeka versions go hard" (Stella, Rad Dogs), and "oh! this human cover isnt the one in the game but I really like it" (96neko's Buriki no Dance, too many KINGs to count, including the arranges). And mixing... as someone who has tried making covers, mixing is suffering. Making sure everyone's balanced but also standing out enough, figuring out what needs to be added. And yeah, the VS tuning done in-house for some reason doesn't gel with me. Meiko had like 4 solo lines at the beginning of the Sekai version of Lower and those just. I don't know, they're not my thing. It's kind of difficult to listen to. Also the VS version of Peaky Peaky. Doesn't feel like MikitoP's tuning, and it also just. It feels like someone just slapped a related Append on and called it. I feel like with people knowledgeable in VoiceSynth tuning those versions could go way up in quality.
@@kelleymcclure7531 I feel the same way about lower...I like the SEKAI version because the human singing is really beautiful but the lack of Meiko and her strange tuning (and the instrumentals), kinda bring it down for me. The in house tuning usually makes me...eeeee no thanks. Funny because I think they do and ok job with some of the Leo/need and 25ji covers. But like for songs such as Aishite x3....I cant stand that cover. Miku sounds awful (imo) !!
tbh its probably their NT voicebanks they all sound like they're drowning ESPECIALLY luka and meiko like meiko and len lost their power in their vocals and stuff like that
I’ve been saying forever that Buriki no Dance is SO MUCH better whenever it’s covered by a lower vocal range, whether that’s the Sekai cover or just any Len cover, it enhances the song so much.
Idk if it’s just me, but whenever it’s a song by Eve, I always prefer the original over both VS and SEKAI versions. With other songs, it’s debatable which version is better, but with Eve there’s something there that I don’t get with the covers.

Eve definitely writes his songs with his own voice in mind (not a bad thing because they're all jams and his voice SLAPS in all of them). But that means they don't all translate well to female singers or vocaloids.
Case and point: Kaikai Kitan. Look up Eve's version and then Creuzer's Kiyoteru tuning. It's PHENOMENAL but aside from that, it just sounds more natural sung in the same range as Eve.

There are some cases where some female singers absolutely kill it and do great covers, Rainych is one I had in mind in addition to Afterglow and Kasumi in Bandori, but otherwise I think what you said is probably why I feel like the covers lack the punch the original song has.

I know vocaloid (but I'm not so much into) so, when I listened some Sekai songs, I liked a lot! Idk why but I always feel like the Vocaloid fans are always saying that their covers are bad when they're not
I mean being a vocaloid fan myself, ive been listening to "Vocaloid" for years so im very much used to the tuning of vocaloid songs thats why at least i think i can actually compare the human covers vs the vocaloid covers, tho im pretty open with covers, its mostly hardcore fans that are very "judgmental" about it
For me I just change the versions whenever I feel like it cause sometimes I hear the same version over and over again, I change it most of the time to feel refresh and sometimes there are songs where I liked both versions

kohane’s cover of “Just Be Friends” is so good, her voice fits so well
i genuinely will always prefer human voices over synthesized ones (which is a hell of a spot to be in when you're in the vocaloid fandom) so i tend to favor the SEKAI versions over VS ones anyway, but the only songs that i will always prefer the VS singers for are Bring it On and GimmexGimme (against the VBS archives' cover). it might be bc i love GIGA's tuning so much. there's probably others but i can't remember them rn
(that being said i have a favorite Ready Steady cover and that's neither SEKAI nor the in-game VS, it's Earthy x6's Virtual Singers cover. the tuning is immaculate)

Any commission song is better in Sekai version, except for those producers who use flower, and *Luna's commission song. And I agree with you with all, except for Aunnobeats (flower always delivers.)
Can't really agree on that. I prefer "Meteor Pulse" and "From Tokyo" with VS ver more!! Sometimes commission songs are also hit or miss. But I do agree that Flower is amazing, her tuning in "Lower" is wonderful

@@stardust9470 I'm actually a big fan of the Sekai ver of Doctor Funk Beat haha, and I was surprised my friend also really likes it too. There are some sections I feel like Toya and Akito are straining their voices a bit, but overall I like their voices in it. The full album version also fixes Kaito's tuning and makes it so much better
Human singers can just provide so much more emotion and sound more pleasant to me. I was never the biggest fan on vocaloid going into this game so when I had the choice of singers with real sounds rather than vocaloid, which can sound so weird, robotic, and uncanny, the choice was clear imo. Some are really good like anything by Mitchie M, and I like that the Sekai versions mix real singers with the vocaloids, but on their own they’re nowhere near as good imo
Thank you for being fair. A lot of the Psekai criticism seemed like too much imo (specially that one tweet I saw saying that no one in VBS knew how to sing. Girl what), at some point fans gotta accept that companies stopped seeing vocaloid as a profitable market and moved on

My main problem with Project Sekai covers is that (as pointed out by somone else) the Virtual Singers are mixed next to none, making them feel like just human covers.
Granted I come from the Vocaloid side of view, but some songs like The World Hasn't Even Started Yet, Miku is just nearly absent or extremly muted.
I blame Crypton for this abscence as they are forcing Miku NT (Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito and Meiko also are NT, just prototype unreleased, but used in all Project Sekai covers)
down our throats, and nearly every (large) producer still avoids Miku NT like the plague, V4 is very well alive. NT is decent nowadays (compared to the disaster at launch) but can't do any high tones from my observation, because Law Evading Rock, which is a high pitched Len done right, had to be toned lower to avoid things like Dramaturgy Miku NT (also for Project Sekai, listen to that and see why NT is garbage at higher notes).
Sometimes the tone and pitch is different to the original, such as Tale of the Deep-Sea Lily, giving a different impression than the original producer intended.
It's also extremly jarring to hear human vocals next to Vocaloids, only Mitchie M songs don't suffer from this really, because Miku is already nearly humanly tuned to begin with (why Tokugawa Cup Noodle Ban is actually good).
One of my favourite songs that is not in this list is 88☆彡, and is probably one of PJSekai's best commisioned songs imo.
The way they mix the entire unit's vocals during the chorus plus Kaito's tuning just hits different and I'm in love with it. The only sad thing that it's way shorter and has no full version :'D
Oh, I actually love both VS and sekai versions of this song!! Marasy's tuning just hits right in the feels.
As for the duration of the song, Marasy and kemu stated that they made it short in order to put the whole song in the game (without sega cropping it like every other song), so that fans could enjoy the full version while playing. Also it has something to do with number "88" (I heard, there's a certain amount of notes or smth like that (don't really remember the name of it) in the song, so yeah, it was necessary to make song short)

Hate to break it to you, but vocaloid version of bring it on is not exactly vocaloid... It was released under similar date for vocaloid and Reol. Same as Hibikase. And a lot of Reol songs. Unless we account 1st year of Reol.

This just proves that they should've simply mix An and Kohane singing with the original Kagamines vocals instead of trying to tune them themselves, the mixing in the game is SO BAD, listening to the Album ver drives me in a rollercoaster of emotions, since it have one of the best SEKAI singers duo mixed with my favourite vocaloids in my favourite producer's song , I can't say that I prefer this over the og (it's mixed with it anyway ) since I simped over the og for years, so this cover was a shock to me, it's the first cover that competes with the original, maybe if they add it to the game I'll grow more found of it , and I feel like they should've mix the Odo cover with Kagamines cover as well, Giga's godly tuning matches Anhanne so well !

I think I will always be biased to support the covers version of prosekai because I'm invested in the characters. I know them, I know their story and motivation. If the vocaloid have their own versions of the same songs in prosekai I would support them too more than the OG becouse this vocaloid are character, people who are helping this kids. They have their own personality too. That's why when there's a comparison between these covers and Bandori's, I always feel sad to see how not many vote for them when I love the songs. But I understand, because you are loyal to what's familiar to you. I knew vocaloid but I don't know everysong and the only one that I have listened and remember more is Magnet so for me is like I'm listening to the songs for the first time. And if I get use to this human voices and this particular characters singing it this is the version I'm going to prefer.

I agree SO much with Bocca Della Verita. It’s a hard song to cover I think, cuz Flower’s voice is so raw in this song that truly fits in with the whole “I hate you”. This stands out a bit more closer to the beginning where you can truly hear the hatred in her voice and omg it’s so good. N25 sings well but I think the cover for this one was too smooth(??) personally.

Yeah this is why I like Bandori and Project Sekai. Thier covers sometimes can be better than the original, an example is Chrarles in Bandori and Alter Ego in Project Sekai. It also allows those who don't like robotic voices to listen the song.
imo, 'aishite aishite aishite' is better with the vocaloid ver, i just think that mikus voice and the tuning and everything perfectly expressed the feeling of descending into madness and being desperate for love, meanwhile the sekai ver feels kind of flat. just my opinion though

I pretty much agree with you on All except Bring It On (An and Kohanes voices clash a lot there), Kagerou Daze (idk, something just bothers me) and Ussewa (Mizuki is amazing, but Mafuyu lacks the anger needed for that song so Mizuki solo is the one I prefer). Great list, I think the Sekai VAs get a lot of undeserved criticism considering how amazing some covers are!

70% of the original songs for the game are atleast better in their sekai version rather then VS because for me since the song is created for the characters itself, it would feel weird if it wouldn't match the character's singing voice... as for covers i think what effects someone's opinion for the sekai version is if they already are used to/enjoy the VS version beforehand and their enjoyment of the voice of the character covering it.... it fits in my case since maybe i would've liked fixer cover but i was too used too the original, and ruikasa's vocals can be great or not my taste (my opinion on how i enjoy the character's vocals changes everytime smh) i agreed on alot of the songs you put though, great video!!!

I usually choose Sekai ver. over OG since I want to hear the OCs sing rather than VS, but exception is Ryuusei. I love Len ver, but... Meiko ruined the song for me. When a VS is just horrible in a song with oc, I just feel so iffy and sad that it wouldve been a great cover if not for the VS... (eg: Ghost Rule, Starry Night Melody, Dramaturgy). Then theres songs like Roki, Dreamin Chuchu which I feel wouldve been far better without a VS or replaced for an OC (Roki: IchiShiho), (Dreamin Chuchu: No Luka). But I try not to say what is better than something else since everyone else has their own taste.
unfortunately meiko is never tuned well in sekai songs and she rarely sounds good in anything. I get it, she’s not the easiest to tune, but god it’s such a pity knowing what her voicebank can do.
