    Hello, But why disassemble the interior? that's for nothing! you just have to remove the stem from the tile from the outside ... With a razor blade it's scary .. Nice final result ...@+Chrys

      I was making another video on how to remove the window. True, you can do that, but i just hate working on tight spaces, so with window out i can show better on the camera on how to.

    I am so glad I watched this video before I did that to my car. I was gonna remove protective tape from sticky side of new trim and than install..oh my, it would be so much struggle and so many possible ways to get it wrong...but when u did place it and removed protective tape on installed position, that my friend was genius, I guess it is proper way to do it but I never thought about that...now I just installed new trim all around and it sits perfectly. thx

    Hello guys, I was able to replace the window strip as well as the rubber lining on the window-door trim using a 3m Z Strip. I noticed that it can all be done without removing the windows. Saves you the hassle on that part!

    Nice video but people buy some glue remover or a flash,Dr what's his face magic eraser . Honest they cost a £1 and really do work you may need more then one so bust the bank and buy five use them around the house for scuffs an more ✌️

    Good work and detailed info! It was a good moment for doing the shadowline curved rubber that usually breaks at the bottom... I have to do it at my right side rear window but took me ages to find the right rubber! Haha

    I wonder if goo-gone, a plastic razor blade and a microfiber towel would have saved you the buffing? Looks great regardless! Need to do this on mine soon

    • @AmelsGarage

      I tried it off camera and it didn’t work so the buffer was the fastest and easiest way. Thank you so much.

      Once the stickum is on there for too long, buffer is the only way. Ask me how I know 😅

    Great video. Do you happen to have part number for the seal around the window (that you were planning to do another time) Also recommendation for the trim removal tool that you have. Thanks

      Thank you. I can’t find it, didn’t look at dealers yet. I spent whole lot of time on Realoem.com and i can’t seem to locate the item for the seal. If you happen to find oem item number please let me know. The trim removal tool i got at harbor freight. www.harborfreight.com/paneltrim-removal-tool-set-6-pc-63639.html
      Thank you.

      @@AmelsGarage I have been researching this total replacement of both the bottom trim piece (as your video shows) & the "upper finisher" trim piece with gasket. The bottom piece can be obtained from various BMW parts suppliers, expensive but not too bad. The upper rubber gasket that fits into the finisher trim cannot be purchased separately...you can get it only if you purchase the "upper finisher" piece (metal trim & rubber gasket). This metal piece with rubber gasket seal runs continuously from the front of the front door to the back of the vent window. This is the only way it is sold and cost a fortune. Most of the videos I've seen on this subject use some 3M or other generic rubber gasket material that is "spliced" onto the existing finisher gasket (where the rotten rubber has been removed) and then installed/fitted to the rear end of the finisher. Certainly not the best solution but from what I've seen, looks acceptable.

    Hey bro..at 5.32 you said about the other gasket that is also bad...do you know how you change that and what type of gasket to use?? Because the oem is extremely expensive..thanks

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  3 года назад

      There is no way around it, you have to buy the whole trim that goes around the front window to the back. It’s all in one, trim and seal. So only option is OEM which is crazy pricey. I still didn’t find alternative and do not want to pay full price. I seen some people just cut the piece of rubber and insert it instead of broken piece, but doesn’t look good.

    Bro im a Bit confused. My e46 has the shadow line package so there is a strip which is in Front of the wheater trim. Which wheater trim do it have to order? Is the strip just glued on the wheater strip?

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  2 года назад

      Just the one that is glued down. The one that goes around is a hefty $750.00 if not more now. I think I replied down in comments what item number it is. But double-check, there are matt and gloss ones. Visit ECS tuning, but the best site to find all OEM part numbers is REALOEM.COM

    But how do you change the top trim rear one?

    • @AmelsGarage
      @AmelsGarage  3 года назад +1

      That’s a whole new can of worms, you have to change the whole trim, from the a pilar to back and that one has the rear seal, it’s very pricy, there is comment below with item number below. I’m not sure how to get it off, but should be same as removing read window, plus trim around the front door and a Pilar.

      Here is the part number for the right side 51717003936 and left side 51717003935, you can buy at ecstuning and it’s pricey. It’s actually the whole trim that has that seal. Here is the link: go down to #15 and pick which trim finish you like.

      I have an 04 325ci. The chrome trim/seal is $2,309.00!! It would cost me more to replace both those seals than the car is worth so it's a hard pass for me! I'll replace the 2 seals in the video & do my best to rejuvenate the other ones.
