Been using that jack for the last 4 years, it’s a good jack only issues I’ve had, is that the rubber pad doesn’t last long & the bolt that goes though the handle doesn’t last. The handle isn’t really thick enough to take it. I have had to put a longer bolt and nut on it, then rap it in robber tape to prevent it damaging body work.
I've had one of these for the last 6 years or so, used it on track days and about every weekend when I broke my car for whatever reason. 😂 its been a great jack and even though its been abused and stored outside for the last couple of years the only thing that's ever happened is the seals have started to let oil onto the floor. So I've treat myself to a new one the same with the intention of getting this one rebuilt and giving it a coat of yellow paint to match my van. I also had to take this Jack t the tyre shop with me because my car was too low for their big jacks and they loved it, bought 4 for themselves and have been using them without fail for the last 3 years.
Another benefit of this jack is if you're near a wall or a hedge ect and don't have much room to use the jack you can shorten the handle and still use it. I drilled the hole out on mine and put a spring clip in so it is quick release. Helps when transporting aswell.
The Halfords 2 tonne jack is similar but benefits from a quick lift foot pump at the back to get it up to the jacking point in one push of the foot. It also has a foam pad around the lower half of the handle to protect the bodywork. Excellent jack and worth every penny
Them low reach jacks are brilliant. I had a 3 ton which I gave to my best mate after a few bits and pieces he's done on my motor. Plus his low reach is 2 ton and it's been through the wars so he was proud as punch when I gave him mine lol
A mate of mine has one of these and he welded up the two bits of the handle as it didn't take long for the shaft middle bit to become a bit loose and wobbly. He was used to the long solid heavy jack handles and it irritated him the lighter hollow construction and he just ran a bead round the gap making it a real solid handle which he likes.
quick lift jacks are fine for rapid lifting such as tyre changing, but sometimes you need one that gives you greater control and lifts a little bit at a time such as Tie Rods or suspension work. My garage has both types because they're both ideal in their own ways
Hi Martin. Great review mate. I need to get one of these, as i've lowered my St220 and i have to use the side jack now, to lift it up 1st, b4 i can get my trolley jack under. Even b4 i lowered the car, i had to lift the body by the wheel arch and push the trolley jack under with my foot. This looks like just the thing for me. Plus my other 2 trolley jacks have a flimsy handle as u pointed out. This looks really well made.👍👍👍
My ST is too low to even get one of those low profile jacks under! I have to drive the front onto some wooden blocks first haha. I'm like you and would never go back to a "regular" jack now I've used one these low profile, rapid pump ones. I got the Halfords one which is pretty much identical to yours but is black. It also has foam on the lower part of the handle in case it hits against the bodywork which is a nice touch. I wouldn't be surprised if these jacks all rolled off the same production line tbh.
You need to contact Quickjack and see if you can get a discount on a BL-5000SX. Best thing i ever done was getting of these. Expensive but alot safer than some alternatives. I brought one after having my jack slip and damage the wing of my car.
Hi, I'm thinking of getting one of these, will you do me a favour please?, will you measure the span across the front of the jack from the outside edge of one wheel to outside edge of the other wheel? I can't seem to find this info out. I have special axle stands which span the jack either side of the wheels. I now need a low profile jack and this looks ideal. Thanks.
that is one crackin trolly jack, come on now you know you want another one eh lol.clarke has some good pieces of kit, bought a few myself over the years ,well worth the money.........all the best martin ,stay safe............dougie
great video martin, a couple of weeks ago i brought one like that low profile one from sgs to replace a faulty air suspension for a spring kit on my bmw x5 and ground clearance is high anyway so i didnt require a low one but as you have shown there lift is high which was good for my bmw also you have the ability to get under low cars its the best of both worlds.
I have the same jack. Had it a while. Its great. My only complaint is the rubber pad split and came apart after a few months. Machine mart don't sell replacement pads but you can get them on ebay easily enough.
The only negative I can see is the nylon wheels wouldn't last long on my garage floor as its very rough...that said I could turn some metal ones on me lathe.... any chance of a discount code Martin????😉👍
My Halfords jack is very similar but has the benefit of a quick lift foot pump at the back as well. It also has a foam pad on the lower half of the handle to protect the bodywork. A better value jack.
big upgrade for you . they far safer, less likely cause damage during a lift or slip/tip . makes jacking far simpler task and you get better working clearance as lift it higher . amazed you never upgraded before . bit of foam on that lower handle be good upgrade, sometimes handy just use lower part handle as if in tighter work area it gives better swing clearance at cost of little more pumping muscle . anyway enough playing, get that trotter van sorted before it blows away :-)
Hi Martin, I sent you something off your wishlist a few weeks ago, apparently it was delivered last Thursday, just wondered if you had received it? Let me know cheers 😁
Wouldn't be withoiut one. Only reason i didn't buy Clarkes was because unlike some of the other ones available, theres doesn't have the ability to split the pump bar in half by clicking a spring loaded nipple instead of a bolt. Not very good when you are working in confined spaces and don't have 4ft of space around your vehicle.
Hi Martin nice jack, I bought a jack from screwfix a year or so back it’s been good, but I still struggle to get it under my Subaru Impreza so I may well get a lower jack in the future. If you haven’t realised this is Luke I’ve changed my channel name on my smaller channel. I’m MEND IT MAN now😁 Good video🙂👍

Haha, Too right lol
That's amazing that Martin. A normal type Jack would never work with a flat tyre!
Wait til jimmy gets his hands on that... you'll never see it again haha
Lock it up martin 🤣

Jacking and measuring is a great way to pass the time. You can really get it up with your Strongarm.
I’ve got that exact Jack, bought it last year on a VAT free weekend. One of the best tools I’ve ever bought.
Totally agree!
I bought one of these and it's a bit of a conversation, they take up the slack quick but they aren't any different under load.
Great Vid Martin 👍 That Clarke Jack looks identical to the Sealey ones i use

Wow what a great gift from that company. You are well deserved in receiving this jack. I am sure you will put it to good use. Thanks for the video.
Thanks 👍
Certainly looks a fine piece of equipment. Regarding axle stands, they are a must. My uncle was killed when working on his car as the jack gave way.
Sorry to hear that bud.
Great video. I'm going to service my own car so perfect timing.
I need one of these in my life - saves parking on 2x4
