Love Massie. Still don't understand why going into massive debt and burdening our future kids with that debt isn't unconstitutional as taxation without representation. Our kids who will bear the full weight of these burdens have no say in these burdens. It's wrong and should be considered unconstitutional.

I'm an antiauthoritarian ecosocialist so believe it or not I have significant common ground with libertarians and support Massie on many issues.
I went to DC in 2007 for a class trip for scholar students interested in politics. We had a pro-Israel lobbyist speak to us about how great the US Israel partnership is and how she was proud that Israel has more lobbyist in Congress than any other country. It was pretty clear to me then that there was no hope for the federal government to ever act in the best interest of the American people. I already knew we had corporate lobbyist selling us out, but when lobbyists for foreign nations felt so confident to boast to young kids being groomed for politics that they have the most sway in Congress, it was pretty clear to me that the federal government must be abolished. Thomas Massie is great, but he's just one principled Libertarian out of hundreds of puppets. We would be fooling ourselves to think that Congress can be fixed. Minicharism always leads to totalitarianism.
… I mean, I don’t buy the last bit. But yes, the Israel Lobby is a gigantic problem. Lobbyists are a problem. Big donors are a problem.
We have problems. But the solution is always where the disagreements start.

For the algorithm
The biggest problem is that we've forgotten that it's "We, the People" who hold all the cards. The Elected are a reflection of the Electorate, and that speaks volumes about the people. Massie talks about being "frugal", which like, but that also means making tough calls and doing without a lot of things we might like to have. For example, there's only so much room, so keeping the floodgates open on immigration, regardless of all the costs associated with it, only does damage to the host nation. It might make you feel good about yourself, but it's one of those examples of "robbing the grandchildren" that Massie speaks of. In 1965 when the democrats led the charge to change our immigration laws, breaking open our borders, people did point out that it would be bad for the nation, but they were shut down by millions of Useful Idiots who wanted to feel good in the moment. They didn't care about the problems of the future because they knew they wouldn't have to pay that bill. They also didn't know just how wide-ranging the impact would be. In my area, it's called "Piedmont Sprawl" and it's removed 40% of our open spaces as more and more people move into the area. Think about that for a minute. In my lifetime, we've lost about HALF of our open spaces to build houses, roads, schools, and everything else millions and millions of foreigners needed when they were allowed into the nation. Massie's got a great homestead, and I'll admit that I'm a little jealous of that, but even now his own borders are being encroached upon by the hordes of "outsiders and his Shire is truly surrounded.
I know all that sounds mean to say, but we need to think about the 2nd Order and 3rd Order Effects of things we support. There's always a consequence. There's always a bill to be paid. I don't think Massie will be nearly as successful as he could be because what he embodies is something most people only claim to want. Most folks aren't willing to make the tough calls, risk being called mean names, and do without what makes them feel good about themselves in the moment. Folks don't really want to "tend the garden".
