Scam School hi
I owe you a dollar now
I miss old school scam school
For the third one. I thought the dead was extra because none of the words had 1 letter 2 times. Only DeaD had the letter D 2 times
Same here. 😀
PandaGirl2112 Me too.
Mercury has two r's?
SAME
+brandon rios But "Fast" Doesn't. The associated word. I also noted that dead was only word with repeat letters.
Got it: Something something "wahh," something something "I clearly didn't notice that last week's show was an awesome magic trick."
...I'm on the case.
He's definitely right about them sticking with you. I watched this video years ago and forgot I saw it until 5 minutes in. I had already figured out all 3, and thought they weren't that hard. Then I remembered, I'd seen it already. I already knew the answers! Even subconsciously, these puzzles stuck with me!
WAIT! My answer to the last one is that each word has no letter that appears more than once, except for dead, which has two d's.
Got the second one nearly right out the gate. I am elated.
same
I thought the last one had to do with the fact that the word "dead" was the only one that used a letter (d) twice.
So did I
Steve Sharp I did as well but who cares
*nods approval from the heavens*
*sheds a single tear for your commitment to the cause*
i'm glad he changed his hair
thank god u got rid of that 90's freakig hairstyle
+Diptanu Chaudhuri **sigh** i.imgur.com/91sn32Q.jpg?fb
+Scam School I miss the spiked hair :/ any chance of bring it back at the near future?
I missed it. I watched this like 2 years ago and loved it. This hair style is also awesome so I'm fine either way so I guess I'm not missing it? But I'm fine with it coming.
Stegosaurus hair?
I love this channel! I can spend hours each day just watching all these awesome tricks:D
I didn't recognize the HUGE hint when Brian was talking about the calculator problem. "You think of a digital eight" lol great hint.
I'm coming from the future, where Pluto is once again considered a planet and we have discovered gravitational waves
+Neo_metallum1618 Scroopy Noopers?
+Scam School R&M!
Waiting for Pluto to be reconsidered a planet, as gravitational waves have been discovered early 2016 :)
I actually thought that the answer to the first puzzle (with the caclaor display) was that it spells out "NEW DOOR"
same
so did I
The first one didnt even take me 10 seconds its so easy even a kid could see it. The second one was sneaky, i got after a minute of rearranging the letters. The third one was just amazing. My train of thoughts (before watching any hints) to get the answer was exactly the same as how the hints flowed. Elegant
Tried these. Instead of answering it, a guy breaks out matches and starts doing other episodes. He knew and kept it classy!
Dead is the only entry with repeating letters.
axelasdf that's what I thought to
I have a quiz.
Lamb, Nutcracker, Pancreas, Burkina Faso, Bespoke, Polished.
uhhh... answer please?
It's good to rewatch good old stuff from Scam School, now that you're involved with Modern Rogue :)
I got the one word one straight away. No idea on the others.
2:37 - Is it just me, or are the 2 and 5 backwards?
LOL. Your right 😂
+Sphee hood (Sphhood) no they arent backwords but i do believe the 6 is done incorrectly
+supernerd1212 On the paper it is backwards, on the graphic it is right.
+WillRennar you are right i didn´t even see that
WillRennar they are
There is a fail, on the paper
Look to the first quiz with the number
Look close to the paper at "3:52" and at the screen "1:24"
Why are you, speaking like this, when you don’t, need to do this?
at the second puzzle I'm like
hmm wat is it...
Redwood, no
*Brian says you need to make one word*
wait a minute... ONE WORD! BRIAN YOU TRICKY TRICKSTER I DID IT!
Best freaking part of the week! Since I live in Sweden I pretty much wake up to a new episode of Scam School every wednesday! I remember when I started watching the show about 3 years ago, and I have pissed of my friends so many times now I lost count! Thanks for the best show on youtube Brian (and ofcourse the rest of the Scam School crew) :D
and i thought i was bad at giving hints.
How the hell can we solve the first puzzle if the symbols on the paper are different from the symbols on the graphic? Which is right?
You were supposed to pay attention to the one on the graphic. That was there for us. Apparently the one on the paper was wrong. So yeah definitely the graphic.
That's what makes the scam so good. You might have to sacrifice buying your mark one beer for getting that but the other two will drive them crazy and then you get two beers. The easy one gives them a confidence boost and makes them stay to try get the others.
why is the youtube layout different for this vid?
ik its weird
Isn't the 2 and 5 reversed on the 7 segment display?
no
yes, in his original write up it was..
I was thinking it was all were nouns except dead. A fast, a home, a beauty, a war, a king, a feast, a sky, an ocean.
Nice. Dude's drinking Shiner Bock. One of my favorites. Gotta love the Darker/Amber stuff.
I know the second answer:
The answer is ONE WORD
I got the one word one
The last one I never ended up getting until you explained it, but the first two I had before you were done with the explanation! :-D
The third challenge is nice because it can be adjusted on the fly. If they're having trouble figuring it out, you can talk about how three of the four classical elements are in there, and that you're going to add fourth one, fire. While you add it to the beginning, you say that everything revolves around fire and you can circle it or cross it out like dead or something. And bam, the puzzle becomes easier without really giving anything away.
The 1st one I got accidentally... Not so much because I figured it out, but because I figured it was gonna be correct as is. (My thought process was completely off the mark, though the answer was correct.)
The 2nd one I got immediately, but I hate those kinds of puzzles, so I tried to come up with another word... I failed to do that.
The 3rd one is my problem... You lied twice during it, while giving useless information as to what the goal is. You said the words "aren't related to one another" and "they aren't in a sequence." Both of those are false. They all relate to gods and planets and in a specific order, or sequence.
Now, the way my mind works, I am fairly poor at understanding instructions when it comes to puzzles like the 3rd one, so I am willing to bet its me that's mistaken but... The way you explained it, on top of the 2 false hints... It was presented so poorly that I feel like the fault was on you for that puzzle and it's difficulty, rather than the puzzle being clever in general. (I won't count the whole "Pluto not a planet" thing, even though crossing out the word "Dead" was another false clue.)
Yeah true. I agree with you.
I got the 3rd one right but not the way it was supposed to be solved like I was way off but correct at the same time lol I thought "dead" was crossed off because it was the only word with two of the same letter in it "dd" lol
I agree to a point with you (sorry for the late response). The presentation was definitely, but not necessarily deliberately, misleading. I think what he meant by saying that the words were not in a sequence was that after DEAD (and now OCEAN), the series terminates, unlike the calculator sequence, which can go on forever (which he makes note of in the video). As for crossing out DEAD, it actually is a genuine clue, as Pluto is not considered a full planet any longer. He added to that clue by saying that when he was shown the puzzle, DEAD was not crossed out --indicating that something had changed (Pluto's planetary designation) from then to now, so it was definitely not a false clue.
As for the words not being related, I agree that it wasn't presented well. I'm guessing that he was saying that it didn't require knowing anything about one word to guess the others, although it was still a clumsy was to state it.
TeamPaul17 Yeah, I never do well with explanations as it is... As I usually don't understand the puzzles until I try to solve them on my own anyway...
Either way though, it was interesting... Even how he screwed up the 1st one.
i got the second one. the first one is rather clever. the third ust in't fair. you'd haveto know about the gods relation to planets and all that.
Yeah!
+sugarkitty2008 not to mention the analogy doesn't hold.
Venus = Beauty (Venus was God of Beauty and Love)
Earth = Home (duh)
Mars = War (God of War)
Neptune = Ocean (perfect)
Mercury = Speed? (He was the messenger of the Gods and known for being fast I guess, but he was the God of travel and thieves. "messenger" would have been better to hold the analogy)
Jupiter = King (Zeus is God of sky and thunder, also known for being Head of Gods, however his literal assignment is God of sky which conflicts with "Uranus")
Saturn = Feast? (He was the Father of most of the Gods, sun of Gaia and Uranus yes there was a feast called Saturnalia but he was not the God of feasts, "Father" would have been a better analogy)
Uranus = Sky (This is ok, he was known as the God who personified the sky as in he literally was the sky. The sky "uranus" and the Earth "Gaia" met and had baby Gods and the Titans, a better analogy might have been "Space" so as not to confuse him with Jupiter as he represented everything "not" earth aka "space")
Pluto = Death Crossed Out. Clever and fine. The fact that 4 of them are not the same kind of analogy really messes this up though. I probably never would have seen it due to the Saturn and Mercury problem.
My "God" I just realised they were Roman gods not Greek gods.
+Larkspur There's also the problem that he says the second set of words aren't related to each other.
+Larkspur judging by the snobbish comments regarding this, that actually makes the puzzle harder.
I am not kidding that as soon as he said the second puzzle I was only thinking.... the answer must be "One Word"
love your show brushwood, two thumbs up man!!
Anyone else here the moan at 8:50
Wut
ya i did
yeah
Your videos are very nice, but those advertisements are annoying the fuck out of me.
D1NO oho! Someone hasn't seen any of our new ads... Enjoy, sir: ruclips.net/p/PLjqQ16mcrfswivBaqcRHzk58vvcje7B6x
Wow, super funny. I'd prefer ads at the beginning or the ending of the video.. Now it's more like a TV Show. And you know it - YT should stay a free platform and rather not commercialized.. (sorry, i'm not a native speaker, so some sentences sound a bit twisted i think)
+derD1NO you have no idea how youtube works do you?
Should we even trust the ads because... This is SCAM school.
***** ? He's saying that youtube should be ad free? Which is very stupid, hence why a lot of people hate youtube red. If youtube was ad free then the youtubers will get no money meaning they won't want to upload anymore... pretty basic.
I had some trouble with the first one because I noticed a difference between what he wrote on the paper and the superimposed box (he wrote the "reversed five" in the "reversed two" place, and the "reversed two" in the "reversed five" place), and that made me think that the trick would work both ways, leading me down the garden path. Once I focused on the "official", printed version, it suddenly became clear.
Watching scam school drunk makes you feel like you're really there. The pre show adverts are not lies!!!!!! All hail Brushwood God of booze.
I miss your old hair
MMohamed MMustafa me too.
+MMohamed MMustafa He looks and sounds like Hank no from sci show.
+MMohamed MMustafa The Johnny Rotten hair
+MMohamed MMustafa What a beautiful irony.
I like how the table shadow makes it look like the guy in shorts is wearing fishnets.
I knew the "New Door" puzzle, because it in a book by Richard Lederer. I think it was titled, "English Our Crazy Language".
I read the answer in the book. Kudos to the guy who solved it. The only other person I've seen solve it quickly was my wife.
I had no idea for the first one.
For the last puzzle, "Dead" is the only word listed where the same letter repeats in the word, so it's crossed out. That fits, so I'll give myself that one, even though there's a different answer.
I gotta say, one of your best eps.
nothing's better than watching scam school while eating cherry pie
My fav is saying I'm going to slide a full beer across the bar without spilling a single drop, then I just take my hand and walk it down to the other end of the bar.
His hint to one word is great
I love how watching this made me realize that the new door one was literally one word
When you have to change new door into one word I immediately got it
Got the one word one straight way. I think it must be the first time I've done one of your puzzles.
I freaking love this show
the one word one was so obvious XD i love it
Failure: I tricked them into getting a free beer... I'm only 14... wait maybe that's a success
I'm just kidding.
The second puzzle was super easy for me. The other two were tougher.
Plus, the first puzzle, when they show it on the screen, the third symbol and the six symbol are the opposite of what he wrote on the paper.
I got the first two almost as soon as he finished explaining them, that third one was killer though
I work with electronics a lot, and I figured out the calculator one in a matter of seconds. I love inverters.
Watching scam school makes me feel so smart. I got all of these fairly quickly.
its funny how he tries to make the puzzles sound harder. the hardest one yet and now brian's ultimate? make another brian. i dare you. your channels still awesome!
I got WONDER.... what do I do with the extra....OH! DAMN IT BRIAN!
that first one was super super easy for me, i instantly saw it was the negatives. the other two stumped me till i saw the first bits of the answers.
I figured out the first one before Brian finished explaining, I feel so smart now. :)
I big urged the first one out! It reminded of of one of the levels in the game 100 Floors so it was easy for me to catch. The LED lights that are showing are actually the lights that are 'off'. So is you look at a digit clock, when it restarts, it looks like an '8' without any LED lights on. Up on the vid, at 4:14 - If you turn the LED lights that were on to off and turn the LED lights that were off to on, it creates the numbers of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and the missing number is 8!
I was on the right track with the 3rd puzzle. I was thinking Greek gods because Hades, the god of the dead, was thrown out of Olympus, but alas it was about planets, which are named after the Gods' (and Titan's in the case of Saturn) Roman counterparts
Bryan, I learned today that you played TF2 With Dead Workers Party
My mouth dropped to the floor.
I was truly shocked, because I've been really into their shows, and my brother has been really into Scam School.
DEAD was the only one with two same letters!!!!
YOU ARE AWESOME BRIAN
as soon as I saw the second one I thought to myself... don't tell me he's pulling one of those...
the one about digits was easy for me as I did that at colege once. came back to my mind instantaniously.
the evolution of brian's hair is amazing
hella yeah! i got the first two right ;) feeling so proud and invincible now
These were good!
These are my favorite type of scams
I just past the setup for the one word one. It gave me a little chuckle.
Best scams ever
THAT IS SOOOO COOOOOOLLL
I'm a bartender and I love the puzzles, I use them on all my guests!!!
I did the last one immediately and I solved the first one just after he mentioned it's got to do with numbers. But the 2nd one was just too clever :)
That's funny, I got the 2nd one immediately and couldn't get the others.
Those were pretty great good job :)
Amazing how u think of new stuff every week. I got new door and the first but third was pretty tough.
*sigh* yes, gramps94. I finally got a haircut.
Wow! this guy really love bears
Alternate solution to sequence of words: The last word, the one crossed out, is the only word where one of the letters is repeated. So the rule is: a word belongs in the list if it has no repeated letters. At 5:15 Brian says this one is not a "sequence". Surely, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars... definitely IS a familiar sequence, so I think he owes me a beer on this one, (a) for finding an alternate solution and (b) for derailing my thinking with his false hint.
I got the first 2 pretty quickly. The first one, I immediately thought numbers, and went 1, 2, wait... 0, 1, 2, GOT IT! The second one, I was unscrambling and end up coming across "ONE WORD". And I was like heh. The third one stumped me.
you said you read all comments and i commented "did you read this" and you replied for that i give you a very special internet high five
Got it at 1:30. Brian, you owe me a beer.
FIgured the second out so quickly, it is literally one word
The only one I got was the first one, but those were great puzzles, thx for another good video :)
I got ‘one word’ instantly.
GUYS THE MIDDLE ONE IS MARUS EDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THAT DUDE
The "one word" one was so easy. Got it the moment he said, "to make one word".
And I'm guessing the last one has repeated letters.
The NEW DOOR one was easy, especially given Brian says the answer at least twice with emphasis, in fact it was the first anagram I looked for.
that was so frustrating but I can't wait to use them on my friends now
hey! the puzzles are completely awesome.
I got first two before he finished explaining. I've paused the video and now I'm thinking about the third one.
I noticed that in the one with the nine words you can also say that dead is crossed out because dead is the only word with two letters in it that are the same.
The black dude is a famous guy among magicians. He designs tricks.
got the first two as they were put down. Halfway through the video and still can't work out the third one. Felt so happy at first but now annoyed as all hell- brilliant though
