And the prevailing fan-theory regarding the video for Peek-a-boo is that it's based on the horror/survival video game "Emily wants to Play," at least there are a ton of similarities.

My first listen to Rookie is like “I don’t like it” but without knowing myself I was humming like lookie lookie all the time and then puff it’s one of my favourite hype song

Psycho and Bad Boy are the casual listeners' favourite. Velvet side is more easily acceptable for the international fans, haha. If you miss reacting to Red Velvet, please do more if you want. the scene you liked in rookie, where seulgi enters the scene confused but then starts to dance, it’s my favorite too. rookie is one of my favorites mvs in kpop. the creativity and chaos is just.,,, perfect. i also adore that there is a lowkey sinister vibe too. when a song is technically a red concept but still has a sinister vibe (like ice cream cake too) i just love it.
The theory is that the girls are monsters who strike every full moon, they can't eat human food (hence the fact that they just put jewelry and Jems on the pizza and also made a house out if it) so they get pizza boys to come over and they like to play with them before they eat them. So they play games and have fun but then when they're distracted they start the hunt, but they make them think they're safe when one of them help the pizza boy escape. But the one who helped him escape is the one who gets to make the kill. So you can see them taking turns with that role, those are different instances. Then you can see the "missing pizza delivery boys" on the pay phone and then also you can see trophy cases with a bunch of different pizza boy shirts who they probably ate, and the last trophy case at the end with the new pizza boy's shirt in it
Oh interesting! I never noticed the bit about them not eating. I thought it was more like a coven that kill a delivery boy every full moon and spend the month inbetween picking and playing with their next victim.

@@ismailabdhakim3704 that’s what people are saying to justify that atrocity of an outfit the stylist put her in🙄 honestly she didn’t do anything differently than the other girls, she is the first one to help the guy get away, she takes off the blindfold. That scene could have had any of the girls in it and it would have been the same thing, they all helped the guy escape at some point. The stylist just wanted someone to stand out, I just wish they had put her in a nicer dress and not that maternity outfit...
FYI, SM didn't put any English subtitles on Red Velvet videos until 2019.

Red Flavor one of my favorite RV songs of all time. And listen. I KNOW Joy had some iconic outfits in peek-a-boo but please. Irene’s red velvet boots? ANYONE?! Letting the boys go is part of the game and they take turns. My favorite touch is at the end all the missing pizza boys on the pay phone.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again (many times). I honestly believe that half the Red Velvet MV concept meetings start with "Okay, has everyone dropped their acid? Yes? Good, let's get started".
As for next......I've always loved Wendy's "Shine On Me" sonic blast in "HAPPINESS" & Joy's rap in "ICE CREAM CAKE". Two of RV's finest moments IMO. I think you would enjoy these two early RV songs.
The theory behind Peek-a-boo is that Wendy is the mastermind of the whole pizza boy murder operations. You can see all the other members trying to help him escape but you never see Wendy doing that. She's supposedly controlling the other members. She also is the only one not wearing a straight up red outfit in that one dance scene, instead she wears plaid which makes her stand out!
Wendy started to help him escape by removing the blindfold....

Nope. It’s actually that you can see members helping him when they are alone. But when they are together they all trying to kill him. Peek-A-Boo is quite a normal concept for horror genre it’s not as complicated as people really think

Red Velvet's MV concept is really unpredictable but very nice too. Red Flavor is my most favorite song from them.
You going from "time to watch some Red Velevet :)" to "what the fuck is that" at 1:20 made me laugh out loud so hard. You are right that Rookie i is very much a love it or hate it song, but over the years a lot of people went from the hate team to the love one and for good reason, it's just so catchy and fun to listen to! Catch me going rookie rookie my super rookie rookie rookie on my last breath. Also I felt the whole creativity tangent, it is one of the reasons why I love kpop so much, I feel like the reative team behind groups really let themselves go and experiment a lot more than in mainstream western pop.
Red Flavor is still my favorite Red Velvet title track, and I think part of it was the timing: it got released the day I arrived at the beach, and the whole mini matched the vibe so well I listened to it on repeat for my whole vacation, so in addition to all the song from the album being amazing, I have very good memories attached to them.
That shot of Joy during Peek A Boo... yeah we all felt it. There are many theories about Peek A Boo, but the one I like the most is that they each take a turn pretending to be in love with their victim, and that is why at the end there are shots of the man running out with each of them, each shot would be a different murder. If you pay attention to the poster on the payphone the man is dialing it says "missing delivery boys" and the scene with them running inside the house has t-shirts displayed like the one at the end

I would've liked the song "Rookie" better if they had pronounced the word "rookie" correctly. However, "Red Flavor" is one of my favorite Red Velvet songs along with "Automatic".
