Disney World Railroad Ride

Please note that Locomotive #2 Lilly Belle was the only locomotive and train running. I’ll be back in January. Hopefully Walter and Roy will be running as well. So far no word on Roger yet. Or when they’ll pack up Roy for his overhaul at Strasburg Railroad. Starting at time mark 7:07 our train meets the riverboat and the train and boat whistle some toons together. This usually does happen when a train spots the riverboat traversing the Rivers of America. First you’ll hear the train whistle and boat whistle tooting one long and 2 shorts. That’s a greeting whistle. The first tune they toot there whistles to is “Shave and a Haircut”. The second is the Mickey Mouse March. The third if you listen very carefully is Jingle Bells. After all we’re getting close to Christmas. Trust me. I love when the train spots the riverboat and the 2 of them whistle tunes together like shave and a haircut, as well as the Mickey Mouse March. Fingers cross that when I return to Disney in January that 2 trains will run again. And that it’s Walter or Roy. But I’m glad Lilly Belle is getting a lot of love. After all her overhaul at Strasburg took much longer that Walters. Even before her long overhaul we didn’t get much joy out of Lilly because long ago do to technical difficulties she was only limited to daily park opening shows which discontinued in 2017 as that took a toll on Lilly. I’m so glad since her return she’s been getting a lot of love needed. And I love how high pitched her Buckeye 3 chime whistle sounds after the railroad reopened in late 2022. Walter has his Buckeye 3 chime high pitched too. When Roger returns to service I hope he toots the Lonergan/Lukenhimer 3 chime he’s been equipped with since 2014. The reason why Roy has been my favorite is because he’s been tooting a more different tone. Before it was much deeper. Now since June 2015 it’s equivalent to a B&O 3 chime. But it’s actually a Handcock 3 chime. Since 2015 one of its chambers was unclogged thus giving it the equivalent sound of a B&O 3 chime. When one of the chambers was clogged it sounded equivalent to a Rio Grande 3 chime.

For those of you who said Walter has a new whistle, what does this whistle sound like? As an example Roy was tooting Rogers Lonergan/Lukenhimer 3 chime as a replica of his whistle was being made. Normally Roy’s whistle sounds equivalent to the riverboat’s whistle.

The new whistle is a Baldwin 5 inch 3-chime. Like you said in another comment, it gives off Tweetsie Railroad vibes. The whistle on Roy is not a replica, but the whistle it wore back in the 1970s. It still sounds similar to the Liberty Belle as it is made by the same whistle manufacturer.
There is a rumor of the new whistle on Walter being permanent, as someone said that his Buckeye is now on Lilly Belle to replace the latter's whistle.

This whistle also gives off the equivalent of a B&O 3 chime.

I’m sure this is temporary. It just isn’t Walter without his Buckeye 3 chime. That was his voice.

Walters whistle has been recently swapped out again. This time for a 4 inch Crosby 3 chime. Sounds equivalent to Roger’s Lonergan and a Lukenhimer 3 chime.

I did hear the Mickey Mouse March. But not Jingle Bells. I’ll have to listen closely. They did the Mickey Mouse March Twice though.

Ok. Now I heard it. I guess only around the holidays the train and boat whistle Jingle Bells after the Mickey Mouse March. Did you also hear the Shave and a Haircut?

I hope when I return to Disney World this January 2 trains will run again. Lilly was the only one running. Hopefully Walter or Roy will run. I need one last ride behind Roy before he is taken to the Strasburg Railroad for his overhaul. So far no word when Roger will return.

Walter does have a new whistle, but it’s probably temporary. The original buckeye whistle doesn’t sound like anything is wrong, so it’s probably just getting some maintenance.
