The startup beeps are a warning for mechanical employees that the locomotive is about to start in case they are working on it.

Very late to the party but I was having this issue with mine and I fixed it. Set the dial to dead center. Switch the remote off. Turn the dial clockwise maybe 90 degrees or so? Not quite pointing right but pretty close. Wait until your train starts chirping, indicating the track has power but the remote is off. Turn on the remote. Your train should be moving pretty quickly, so SLOWLY turn the dial back to dead center. This fixed mine.

LOL, I didn't notice the glass at first. I noticed what the glass is resting on. So when the loco came around the curve, I said to myself whats holding the track up so good? 😊 It looked like the track was on the arm of the chair. 😃 Then, after a bit, I noticed it was a glass table! UH, DUH! 😂😂🤪 SILLY ME.

The best thing about having those kind of train's you can add more car's swap cars even if you enough track you can expand i don't know if they made any switch track it'll be nice if they did but there's a down side😢 unfortunatelyi have found out the harder Way some track's are reversed if you break a track and if you don't have the right end then like me you be up a creek without a paddle in other words your screwed make sure you have as much replacement parts track and car's for your locomotive and take care of the one you have that's life's lesson for you i have two of them I should know

I have a question, does your 4449 operate weirdly when you first opened the box and used it? Mine seems like it’s struggling to operate through curves when I operate the engine slowly, not too problematic on straight tracks.

Do do you what the black piece on the back of the engine is called? I have a picture but can’t seem to add it here. Looking for a replacement

For those of you who said Walter has a new whistle, what does this whistle sound like? As an example Roy was tooting Rogers Lonergan/Lukenhimer 3 chime as a replica of his whistle was being made. Normally Roy’s whistle sounds equivalent to the riverboat’s whistle.

Walter does have a new whistle, but it’s probably temporary. The original buckeye whistle doesn’t sound like anything is wrong, so it’s probably just getting some maintenance.
