This isn’t Roy’s Whistle at all. It only sounds like it. It’s actually a Baldwin 5 chime. Roy toots a Hancock 3 chime. This whistle is very ironic on Walter as we’re used to him tooting a Buckeye 3 chime like Lilly Belle. But Lilly is tooting Walters Buckeye 3 chime. Hers got damaged somehow and is getting fixed. I’m sure soon Walter will be tooting his Buckeye 3 chime again soon.

Walter and Lilly toot a Buckeye 3 chime. I like it. It’s just not Walter without it. You do have a point about Roger. He used to have one. In 2014 it was replaced by at first a 4 inch Crosby 3 chime with Lukenhimer valves. Today he toots a Lonergan 3 chime. Yes the Lonergan sounds the same as the Crosby/Lukenhimer 3 chime. And I don’t think Disney wants Roger to toot his Buckeye 3 chime again. Walter and Lilly deserve the Buckeye 3 chime.

Walter looks great after his overhaul too. And rather he’s pulled his series 100 Red cars or Roy’s series 400 Blue cars I like it. And that Baldwin 5 chime whistle gives me good vibes about Roy now that he’s gone to Strasburg for his overhaul. He needs it. There was a lot of rust under his boiler. He needs a new one like stat. I predict he’ll be back in 2028 or 2029. And I’m sure Lilly Belle will get her Buckeye 3 chime back. I know it’s just not Walter without his. While this Baldwin 5 chime gives me vibes on Roy, it gives me vibes on various other steam locomotives like Little River Railroad #110, and 2 steam locomotives that ran at the B&O Railroad museum like the 0-4-0T named St Elizabeth and 4-4-0 #25 William Mason. Also a small amount of vibes on Tweetsie #12. But Tweetsie #12s whistle sounds louder than this. Also Walters Buckeye whistle being tooted by Lilly Belle gives me slight Durango and Silverton vibes except the Buckeye is more high pitched as the K class Mikados whistles are a little deeper sounding. Stay positive Walter and Lilly will be tooting there Buckeye 3 chimes soon.

Yes. Strasburg Railroad did an excellent job on Roger. His Green boiler jacket for now has the same hue as Lilly Belle. It will become an Emerald Candy Green hue again once it’s faded in the hot sun.

My kitchen table has always been a glass table. I’m starting to do all my N scale model railroad reviews there. It’s easier on a table.

I was just as desperate as you to find the EP Ripley set. Try joining an N scale BST group on Facebook. Or just be patient and wait for one to pop up. And hopefully at a reasonable price. It was so hard for me to find one at a reasonable price. And in Mint Condition.

The new whistle is a Baldwin 5 inch 3-chime. Like you said in another comment, it gives off Tweetsie Railroad vibes. The whistle on Roy is not a replica, but the whistle it wore back in the 1970s. It still sounds similar to the Liberty Belle as it is made by the same whistle manufacturer. There is a rumor of the new whistle on Walter being permanent, as someone said that his Buckeye is now on Lilly Belle to replace the latter's whistle.

This whistle also gives off the equivalent of a B&O 3 chime.

I’m sure this is temporary. It just isn’t Walter without his Buckeye 3 chime. That was his voice.

Walters whistle has been recently swapped out again. This time for a 4 inch Crosby 3 chime. Sounds equivalent to Roger’s Lonergan and a Lukenhimer 3 chime.

I hope when I return to Disney World this January 2 trains will run again. Lilly was the only one running. Hopefully Walter or Roy will run. I need one last ride behind Roy before he is taken to the Strasburg Railroad for his overhaul. So far no word when Roger will return.

So far 1 thing I saw changed was how they light the firebox. They just press a plunger and starts the fire. However the Lilly Belle is usually slower to get steamed up. I enjoyed how the firer would throw a cotton ball soaked in the fuel oil. Light it on fire. Hold it up like the Statue of Liberty. Then toss it into the firebox and add more fuel oil to get a roaring fire to heat all that water into steam. The Walter E Disney locomotive has been upgraded with the feature of lighting the fire with a plunger. Roger E Broggie should have that as well. So far no updates on him yet. He’s been test fired at the Strasburg Railroad. He might return to Disney later this December. Sad that it means my favorite locomotive of the WDWRR Roy O Disney will be next to get taken to the Strasburg Railroad for his overhaul. But he needs it. He’s very old. He turned 100 years old in 2016. That makes him 107 years old this year. So all I can say other than what other things you had to ask about is despite some instruments in the cab of the locomotive being computerized, I don’t think it would take away the locomotives authenticity. Still authentic steam engines running purely on steam.

@@pinchy08 Ok, but with the electric igniter, is everything still the same with starting up the locomotives besides the igniter? Does the fireman still use the atomizer to spray oil, or is that automatic? Also, does the fireman control the boiler pressure, or is the computerized system in charge of that?

The Fireman still controls the atomizer and the water injectors. Thus maintaining the boiler pressure.
