Kelly was robbed but barely, kanoa should have gotten about the same score as kelly's best wave, giving kelly the slight win. One was more technical and about a second longer, the other was far bigger, more perfect, and shapely, but shorter and easier.
I feel like Kanoa deserved a much higher score for his first wave, but a lower score on his last one. It all evens out. He still deserved the win in my opinion.
Slater will remain one of the iconic surf figures of all times, he masters the style, the technic and the agressivity of the performance! A lot of those emerging « young » surfers are just « aping » him..
