Nice work buddy! You think it might be fun to do a ‘who did single pickup better?’ Video with that Epiphone before you send it off?
I think that is one of the sweetest esquires I've seen!
thanks!
I'm out of time :)
report the theft to police. use your insurance.
Whether you know it or not, you have carved out a niche as the builder/tear down guitar go to RUclips channel. I’ve learned a ton watching your videos. Keep it up, these videos will be valuable for years and aren’t just a one time view. Great quality content.
Cool, thanks! ya I guess you can these longterm evergreen videos for sure
if I can sit through the whole Snyder cut of Justice league I can sit through this no problem.
ha! I've heard it was a big improvement. I stopped watching DC stuff after Man of Steel
What a beautiful build! I love that Lake Placid Blue. My lovely wife said "you already have 5 guitars!" when I mentioned it might be fun to do something like this... so I will live vicariously through you. Great job, Landon!
Rock on!
Nice build Landon, thanks for taking the time to video it and share it with us.
hey thanks for watching!
Landon, your throwaway comments are what make these builds so fun to watch. Keep 'em coming. I'd like to see a 1 pup Strat just to see what it could do and sound like.
cheers!
2yrs ago i 'Esquired' a second hand DIY Tele kit completely gutted out for new components and retaining the twangy ceramic bridge pickup (7.6K) later swapping it out for an imported twin railed SC sized humbucker (8.2K) that's got hot P90 twang that sings when i plug straight-no-chaser (no pedals) into my dimed-out 60-watt Carvin X-60C w/a factory installed 12-inch Celestion G12M70 speaker, running all three positions; my build was inspired by my uncle's B&W pic of a '55 blond whiteguard Fender Esquire he later traded for a Gretsch some time in the 60s...you got a sweet build too!
nice!
Cool build! It definitely has a very different unique sound. Thanks for showing how you did the build, really enjoyed and I love the neck you chose!
Awesome, thank you!
Looks awesome Landon, I will have to watch when I have more time. I appreciate the detailed chapters!🎸🎸🎸👍
hey Rich! Enjoy!
Another great video Landon, thank you for showing us the build..
No problem 👍
Great build. The result is really incredible. Thanks for posting.
Glad you like it!
I love this kind of vids man!! Also the color of your tele combined with the bound fretboard is an instant classic.
Thanks a ton!
Got a MJT body in Lake Placid Blue yesterday, and are assembling an Esquire. It’s gonna be my 50th birthday gift for myself. I will have some help from the luthiers I’ve been using for 25 years, just to find the right neck, doing the electronics and the final set-up. It’ll be a mix between vintage and modern specs. The body got nitro finish with a light relic, belly cut and arm contour. Going to get aged hardware to fit the body. SD Hotrails, VIPpots (550k), Eldred wiring. A 10-12 inch neck with rosewood fretboard and tall frets, finished by one of the luthiers in nitro. I’m actually quite excited!
have fun!
Hey Landon, love the end result!!! Yes, I watched the entire video from start to finish (without breaks) and enjoyed it as well! As always, you kept it transparent, fun, and informative. Dig that you never edit out slips of the tongue etc. You're always genuine and your content delivers every time. Thank you brother!
Glad you enjoyed it! I used to cut everything out and it stripped away my personality. keeping it real!
@@landonbailey Personality collectively between you and your content is what got me hooked in the first place brother. It's like hanging with an old band mate. I appreciate that. I imagine I'm not the only one here who feels that way.
thanks Will!
Building guitars is something I finally attempted in 2020. I've done 2 Les Paul style builds. I definitely want to attempt a Tele build in the near future.....Great job on this build. The guitar looks great.
Go for it!
Just wanted to say I love your tutorials and your sense of humour is so dry it's the best.keep up the great page. You really are the Bizz Landon 👍🏼🎸🎸👍🏼🎶🎵🎼
thanks Ronald!
Great work on the build! I'm in love with that channel-bound neck.
Me too!
@@landonbailey as a country boy myself I grew up with Johnny Cash and the Carter family and Patsy Cline and alll the greats so I got into electric guitar cause of my guitar hero Luther Perkins
You absolutely crushed it with this build, Landon!
hey thanks Jim!
Excellent build. Nicest esquire I've ever seen! And that channel-bound neck!🔥
Thank you kindly!
Sick build man! I love that neck and the cream with the blue looks great together!
Thanks a bunch!
It's a good thing Fender put that "no garbage" sticker on the neck plate so no one throws away that beautiful guitar. (I've had that happen... a sticker would have been cheap prevention).
🤣
Fun build! Keep ‘em comin’!
will do!
Great job on the build! Sounds awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Killer 'build', that neck looks ridiculously awesome. Looks like a fun project, thanks for the time consuming video!!
it's a killer for sure! cheers
Love your channel Landon, thank you!
I appreciate that!
Thank you for doing esquire. I loved the built; it was extremely informative. I'm from San Antonio, TX.
👍🎸
Another nice build. Love that neck! Enjoy!
cheers!
Beautiful guitar, I was very excited for this video
Glad you liked it!
Hey guys. I just bought a rarities series telecaster and the switch tip was the o ly bad thing about it! Lol! It was a big clunky too hat that didn't even stay on. The point is, I bought a metal one for only eight dollars from a company called Forney custom. They have a great variety of colors and styles. Best part, it has a set screw and they even included the Allen wrench! It made a great upgrade to my Tele for almost nothing. I have copied your link for my purchases. I love your honesty and believe you can use a little boost right now more than some of the bigger channels. I think you will get there.
hey thanks for the support!
Great work!
Thank you! Cheers!
That turned out well. The clean tones are impressive. Great job. Fender used to make a simple single coil called the Musicmaster. The pickup was in the front position with just two knobs. It would be an interesting build.
Hey Landon. Thank you for a very informative and enjoyable vid. I think you have a great sense of humour. Cheers from Canada!
My pleasure! I'm in Canada too!
Great video Landon. Watched it in one go and it flew by. For those who don't know about video editing, as a rule of thumb, for every minute of the video = at least 1 hour of work to produce that 1 min. Example this video at 34:30 most likely took Landon about 35-40 hours to produce.
oh hey thanks! it was also trimmed down from around 2.5 hours of footage. ya it took a while :)
Great vid! Feeling inspired :) Thnx
Awesome! Thank you!
Great build! I really do like that you leave in the verbal slip ups 😂 does give me a chuckle
😁
Great build, sorry great assembly. Looks and sounds awesome 👍🏻 love these vids
Thanks 👍
Beautiful guitar. Well done Lando!
Thank you kindly!
Glad you covered installation of the strap buttons, I always have a hard time with those.
ya it was originally a 30 minute segment of the video, but I trimmed it down.
You're one of the best!!! I appreciate your videos so much! Thanks!
You are so welcome!
I recently started putting those ClassicGear tuners on all my guitars. Fender should put these on everything. Best design for tuners ever. No stabbing your finger or tearing your gig bag.
vintage style tuners are my fav, and this 2 peg install is awesome
@@landonbailey when I first found them, never knowing they existed, I thought they were a little pricey but after I had the first set, it was a no brainer. Awesome videos man. I’m doing my first build now and this video along with some others really helped me out. Thanks and keep up the great work. Much appreciated
Nothing beats lake placid blue. Absolutely stunning
cheers!
Great BUILD, Landon. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
hey thanks!
I appreciated this video! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i came for the plastic ripping. Video was great Landon
ASMR 4 LIFE
Landon you pulled it off! KickAss axe! You did it your way baby!! I've been wanting to build the Esquire only on the cheap, you know a parts tele with the dark circuit and no hole pickguard.. another item for my bucket list. Electro socket going on my american tele cuz of your video today. Big telecaster influencer in the youtube world.. thanks little buddy!
Go for it!
That channel-bound neck thoooo!! Amazing videooo Landonnn!
Thank you!!
@@landonbailey mr.Landon, I dmed you on Instagram like four or three weeks ago. I hope you have read it
Made it in one sitting!! Sounds great ! Love that neck!!
Rock on! marathon sitter!
Landon this vid is mint watched it in 1 go whilst doing the ironing lol, the guitar looks and sounds just superb well done
hey thanks Malcolm!
Where is my mind with this amazing tele, yeahh nice guitar.
I love that song!
Nice looking build Landon!
When drilling pilot holes I usually just put the screw along side the drill bit to see how much of the drill bit is going to be used. Then I just wrap some painters or electrical tape around the drill bit so I know exactly where to stop when drilling. You may have done this before, but figured it was worth tossing out there. It certainly helps with the "ass-puckering" step of having to drill holes in your new guitar.
thanks for the tip! someone mentioned the same thing. good idea for next time
This has been my favourite guitar build that you have done. I love everything about the guitar with the exception of the body colour. My choice would have to be a white body. Other than that I love it. I now want to pull a pickup from my Telecaster and convert it to an Esquire.
I thought of putting this neck on my white Tele at one point
I think that you might like that tele! Happy musical journeys!
I love it!
I have clicked like but I haven’t watched it yet. I’ll watch it after work, half asleep on the lounge.....then I’ll watch it properly on Saturday morning with a coffee and bacon 🥓.
that's a good way to start the weekend!
Love it dude!
Glad you like it!
Beautiful guitar!
Thanks a lot!
Love you’re videos!
hey cheers!
I appreciate your perspective about everything. I'm exactly like you and just like building/assembling guitars. It's so much fun and meditative. Yes. I'm like you with the soldiering--it takes practice and education and really spending a little bit on a good hot soldier (40 watts or higher). I'm a tele man myself and have an esquire and a junior. They are perfect and make you work for the sound. Tele forever!!!!
👍🎸
your a better man to do this then i would ever could be nice job.
it's easier than it may appear.
great "Baker" inspired build Landon....I'm looking at parts now - you rock!
cheers!
I’ve really enjoyed this series. I’m getting ready to build a Tele myself.
Have fun!
BEST GUITAR BUILD EVER!!!!!!!!!!! WOWOWOWOW NOW I WANT TO DO IT TOO, ....BUT I DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE MONEY
.........LOVE YOU'RE CONTENT SERIOUSLY!!!!!!! MARCO
cheers Marco!
Another great video... good job
Thanks again!
Sounds and looks great! And I really watched the whole vid in one go hahaha
Awesome! Thank you!
Sweet build. Love partscasters! That neck is sweet! But I try to keep the costs down by using Fender necks, & Warmoth unfinished bodies. Keeps the costs down. Stew Mac tinted lacquer. But thumbs up on this one
hey thanks! ya Warmoth stuff looks great
Obsidian wire wiring looms are quiet good. They’re made in New Zealand. They are very well made.I’ve used them on a telecaster and a precision bass.
hey thanks for sharing! I agree they are great
Landon playing a solo? Hot damn. Good stuff.
well I tried kinda. lol 🤣🎸
Fantastic video and a great build!! I’m looking into building a parallel universe Meteora with the telecaster pickups. Great job overall and I relate to your sense of humor!
awesome thanks! have fun!
That’s a great looking guitar, I’m a Telecaster guy and I love the simplicity of the Esquire, I actually watched the whole video lol
🎸👍
Thanks Landon! Been waiting for this video to drop for weeks! I watched the whole thing in one go while doing stretching exercises 😃 so a quick question, how satisfying was it compared to the excitement of getting delivery of a new guitar?
Hope you enjoyed it! It's very different from buying a new guitar, because it's a really slow process. Different but also fun
I must confess, I was one of your subscribers who skipped this video. Why? Not a fan of Esquires because I love the Tele neck pickup. But I think I was wrong. And man, that Lake Placid blue and the parchment pickguard... as we say in Australia: “As flash as a rat with a gold tooth” (i.e. really noice). Love that channel-bound neck too... 👍
hey cheers! ya Esquire is a unique thing (still a Tele in my mind 😄)
I come over to Canada once every other year, my family are out there. If i can get across when this Covid virus does one maybe we can have a jam? That would be really cool visiting Brit joins me for Tea and Blues.
maybe one day! not anytime soon here :)
Landon,
Nice job 👍
hey thanks!
Thank you. One take baby!! Fantastic build. What an amazing guitar and such a unique neck. How do you like the switching options? I think they’re quite versatile.
nice! ya the switching options are pretty cool. getting some unique sounds for sure
Say it ain't so, where is my mind? Also, great video. Just assembled a Strat mod and you're right. Anyone can do it with patience and resources. Thanks for making these videos.
nice!
Looks like you've put together another really nice guitar. Famous Esquire players: Steve Cropper and Yardbirds era Jeff Beck. My only requests for your next build is try a Rock Rabbit control plate with the angled switch slot if you do another Tele build. I don't think it will work with an Obsidian wiring kit but it would have worked with this Esquire wiring kit. Also a 4-way switch mod is easy to do with a 2-pickup Tele. Fender makes the switch and has instructions. You have to solder an extra wire on the bottom of the neck pickup to the switch. Not that difficult.
cool! ya I have an angled switch on the Godin Stadium HT. I don't really find it helps me much.
Hey Landon, check our the Seymour Duncan Secret Agent, it's a neck pickup that's hidden underneath the Tele pickguard so you maintain the Esquire look but with a hidden neck pickup for more versatility!
ya I've seen it. the wiring on this is for the traditional Esquire config
"sponsored by me" 😂😂, your sense of humour is awesome
keeping it real :)
@@landonbailey I'd like to spend a whole day with you and I can guarantee that I will laugh most of the time, man it would be so fun
Actually enjoyed the camera work there.... that was nice.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@landonbailey Yeah, good stuff dude, good stuff.
Clicked like before the ads finished scrolling, just cause I knew I would like this.
cheers!
USD$100 for shipping?! Man, you guys in Canadia sure do get hozed. Ok I'm over it, watching rest of video. I LOVE the result already, looks amazing!
ya the alternative used to be to ship it within the US to an address I can drive to and pick up. hasn't been an option since covid, and also the dollar wasn't worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Great job! 😉👍 I would've continued watching, had the video been ten times longer. 😏
Glad you enjoyed it! it was trimmed down a ton.
Very, niccce! Sounds and looks great! I was just looking at the cheap Eddie Vedder squire that’s similar, but it’s a Tele not an Esquire. Color is close but yours has no bullseye and arrow! Deal breaker! Hey, For $200 and PJ has been my favorite band since they came out, why not? If I had the money I would love to due what you did! Like you said, I’m no luthier or tech, so it was still something you chose and put together! Much respect, and it’s awesome! Great job! Always get a couple laughs from these videos! FYI, that wasn’t long! Phil McNights videos are like 1-2 hours long twice a week, but I love the guy and he also time stamps his videos. I still can’t leave one sentence comments because I can’t remember when I actually talked to someone on the phone instead of texting. My friends have 0 interest in guitars! They just listen to me, and have no clue what I’m talking about! Okay I’m done now!🤐
I've seen Pearl Jam live a few times over the years. Great band!
@@landonbailey ya, there great, but when Jeremy came out and that’s my first name, everyone was singing my name to the lyrics and I have a crazy, funny group of friends that still give me crap today because I always have PJ on a playlist. Sleeping over at your friends when you’re a junior in high school, they would sing it all night like when it came out when I was 11! Haven’t thought of that in years, so it’s a lot more funny then it sounds, but I need to learn how to make quicker, shorter comments without sounding like a tool! Appreciate the love! Keep up the videos and I’ll work on shorter comments!! Lol
Never knew about those tuners. Pretty cool.
ya they are great!
So I found this as I'm doing an Esquire conversion. Synchronicity or something.
Great video, and the Kriss Kross joke was delightfully dreadful. Loved it!
Glad it was helpful!
Well, you inspired me. I will do a Squire build with my dad. He is a custome painter. So we are going to give it something Fender hasn't done before.
nice! have fun
Cool fender style
it's really nice!
Thanks for posting this video. Love the color! Now that some time has passed, i'm curious what you think of the Tim Shaw's. They sound cool on the video, but am wondering how your experience has been? Not a lot of videos around with these pickups. Thanks
ya it's been good. I still haven't tried the neck pickup with it together
Bro!!! That sounds great with the Princeton. But you should do.it with the Vox. Vox and a "tele" is a great combo so I "hear". The colors are killer. That cream really matches the neck. Great choice. Love the video. Couldn't catch it live. I always will catch it though.
cheers! ya it's great on the vox too. some of the intro track guitars were on the ac10
@@landonbailey nice! Have a great day bro. I'm loving the videos. This build was really good.
Nice Pixies Riff...It sounds great..
Thanks for listening
Hi Cousin. Cool project by someone who can make it happen.
we're cousins?
Very nice video ❣️
Thank you 🤗
I just purchased a double bound Esquire from Squier. It doesn’t have the fancy Fender logo but it’s really cool.
Nice!
Hey Landon,
I dig the build videos the most and probably because I do a bunch too. I just put together a three tone burst Strat with a Fender solid rosewood neck and the HSS Gen 4 noiseless loaded pick guard. The guitar sounds and feels fantastic too. ( I dig both Tele’s and Strats ) only difference is I lose moneys on each build lol! I’m assuming you’re a better business man 🤙🤣
PS - that bound neck you just used here looked sweet too. 🤙
Sounds great! That rosewood would be awesome. There's no way I would ever recover the money on this build by selling it. So ya I don't do these to make money
Aye I agree.... if you’re looking to flip it you’ll have that axe for sale a long time haha!
"Why worry? Each of us is wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back" the Bill Murray of RUclips guitar demos
Man youre really quick with the screwdriver
I'll never reveal my secret!
So cool
thanks!
Looks awesome. Glad you used the cream pickguard as most of us recommended. Now when’s the giveaway?????😉👍🎸🇨🇦
Tomorrow!
You should check out the secret agent pickups. They sit under the neck pickup area under the pickgaurd and they don't pull so you still have the esquire sound
Actually to use that secret agent pickup, it'd have to be stealthed out wired like a Telecaster.
ya once I decided on the wiring kit, I don't think it's an option
Really enjoyed the build video, thanks for posting!
Hey, question for you about the build. As there is one less pickup, do you find you're getting less 60 cycle hum? I didn't hear any at all in the video and didn't see you apply any shielding paint or foil, so assuming it may be hum free? Just curious, thanks!
Oh yeah, and Mack Daddy will make you.... jump! jump!
could be the pickup itself, but ya hardly any hum at all
If you get a chance, check out the Squier Classic Vibe Esquires. They are awesome. I really enjoy your channel….informative and very good natured. Best wishes.
Thanks! Will do!
