lol i think i have deleted my comment by accident. I will try to restore it so maybe other people can get some knowledge. Great cover man! The harmony before the solo was the highlight for me. I don’t if you know about them but there are videos from around 2007 of John explaining Dani California guitar tracks. There are two parts. Just type „john frusciante dani california” and they will show up. Great knowledge source. Also, I don’t know if I got it right but it seems to that you think that the FM4 was used on the original studio track but in reality it wasn’t. He used Doepfer A100 modular synthesizer which is actually shown on one of those videos. Live he used combination of Moog Moogerfooger CP-251 control processor + Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 LowPass filter. In 2007 he transitioned to just using a wah pedal. However, the spin cycle effect of the FM4 will do the job for the majority. It’s not exactly the same but still good enough that even Josh used it during live performances. Keep it up man!
Of course! Those are great videos. That’s how I knew what to attempt with the fm4, since it kind of “does the thing” 😂. Those mooger fooger (however they’re pronounced 😂) pedals are crazy expensive and awesome. And yes, the fm4 gets close enough, but I do wonder if there are any more affordable pedals out there that compare. I do think you could add a tremolo, phaser, and auto wah and it would be really close to original, but I currently don’t have a tremolo. That’s for the kind words!
@@frusciantegeartone I really hope behringer will actually make those moogerfooger clones and not just abandon the idea. Knowing behringer, they wouldn’t be likely to cost more than like 150$ or so so if they put them out, I will buy the cp251, mf101 and mf103 for sure.
@@netyn that would be awesome. I’ll have a lot of new content to put out if so! 😂 I hear about the ce-1 clone they were doing but still haven’t seen anything about it lately
@@frusciantegeartoneI heard that they had announced many different reissues and stuff but nothing has ever happened in the end. Could have just been a marketing trick or maybe eventually they will release it. For ce1 I’d recommend PastFX. I was looking at the m3007 as I can’t afford the deluxe model but i don’t really know if swapping my angel wing chorus for that ce1 clone is worth it. I could either sell the angel wing get the m3007 and then buy individual pedals(big muff, fuzzrite, micro amp etc) or go for Jfx empyrean and stay with it(as it has the preamp already) but then again I have much time to think. Now i’m buying a squier cv 60 and then i think i’ll go for delay and reverb
@@netyn nice. I was really close to buying the cv 60’s a few months ago. But then I thought about saving up more for the fender 60’s reissue or whatever they’re called. Then recently the talks about Frusciante having a signature model in the works just has me saving my money 😂. Keeps my wife happy too 😆
Great experiment. I'm certain in the studio, John used a modular synthesizer with an LFO to control the high pass filter to get the "wobble" effect during the bridge. He explain this during an interview in 2006. ruclips.net/video/eE3dUUj4_4Q/видео.html But live he probably would have used with the Moog low pass filter with the control processor or the FM4. We'll never know 🤷
Awesome video. Awesome performance. I was quite amazed how good the Joyo Vintage phaser sounded. Overall your tone for all parts was pretty damn close - and frustrates my own attempts, using a Katana external pedals - CE2 clone, Line6 M5, DS-2, and WH10 (obviously not in that order!) It’s also quite amazing and impressive that even after 17 years people are still dissecting and trying to replicate the tone (me included). Such a classic track!!
@@Callisto1969 thank you 🙏. It is amazing that we are chasing that tone. After all these years. It means there is something special about John’s tone. I think it has something to do with his edge of breakup sound and dialing it in as close as possible. I think after getting that part down the effects are easier to dial in.
I thought dat TURBODISTORTION Gag is back😆Very well done man😃🙂
Can you do a studiotour? I think it would be fun!
