This is different from Sri Lankan 'Aappa'. This is something similar to 'Paal appam'. A famous and delicious breakfast variety is available in the eastern part of Sri Lanka. Still, the ingredients and the way of making are different. They heat the Paal appam even from the top. Once done they spread coconut milk on top. Also, it is delicious when taken with sugar.

We in my country make this as sweet hoppers with coconut milk juggery and caramelized sugar syrup with egg .but we not use yeast .we keep it overnight with coconut water or baking soda .the different shape we make this folding the edge as half circle .but it's very crispy and so yummy .

Why not? We Srilankans even use coconut honey to make pani appa or honey hoppers and kiri appa with sugar. It is very tasty with egg in the honey hopper. My favorite.

We call this hoppers in Sri Lanka. We use less batter, spred it over the wok to make thin, crispy ring with spongy center.
