It costs more than the 10 Cask Strength and I know which one I prefer - The 10, just in case you didn't guess. I'm sipping on that 10 year old cask strength right now in a rather melancholic mood. Many of us in the U.K (and elsewhere) are very saddened by todays events but here is how the Laphroaig ties in. Laphroaig distillery was granted a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles as was. Watching today's ceremony I can't think of a better choice. It's the only distillery granted that title by him. The remaining four were granted by our late Queen. Laphroaig are a distillery that many of us love but they frustrate their true admirers so much. Independent bottles of Laphroaig have been one of my great go to options over the years but the original 10 year old was one of my gateway whiskies back in the day and I really love the 10 Cask Strength today. Listening to those magnificent bagpipes during Queen Elizabeth's funeral ceremony today and drinking a glass of Laphroaig, granted a Royal Warrant by our new King, Charles III, seems like the right thing to do. I know you are men of honour and duty as well so I hope you will raise a glass with me. Welsh Toro
Laphroaig 10 cask strength is the pinnacle of the distillery. Nothing else I've had from them beats it. Batch 15 was especially delicious. I loved it so much, I bought three additional bottles.
Thank you gentlemen for doing this review. I do not have a bottle of 16 year old Laphroaig but I do have a bottle of Freud tenure. Cheers gentleman and have a great night!
I just started getting into Scotch and found your channel, loving it so far. I will say, if you guys wear smoking jackets or 3 piece suits for these reviews the youtube algorithm will pick it up and you will get a lot more views. regardless, keep it up!
We have a bottle of this in our collection and it's like smoked butter, green olives and a sprinkle of tajin. Peated, savory, tangy. Didn't pick up on the sweetness very much, but maybe it'll open up over time? Agreed that 16 years is almost too old for a Laphroaig when it comes to the peat, but a tasty one for sure!
Nice review fellas! Scott since you mentioned that it might need some sherry or marsala influence. I did some experiment with Laphroaig 10CS and PC10 a few months back. Filled 2 100ml sample bottles and added only 5ml of Port that i had at home and set it a side for two weeks and it came out beautifully! Would be nice to see a video from you where you play around with peated bourbon barrel expressions. Seasoning samples with either Sherry or Port and seeing how it comes out in your opinion! Slainté Dummies.
Glad You like it, Shure wish my taste buds would accept and not get saturated by peat!, That's a real problema with me, I seem to be missing out on some great stuff because of it.
Not a fan of peanuts so when people agree on that note I tend to steer clear. The bonus pickup was Bart’s other website being referenced. You two never disappoint. Slainte!
You young whippersnappers and yer video games back in the 80's; Why in my day in the late 60's early 70's we had Meccano & Hot Wheels & Creepy Crawlers & all that good stuff....& Scotch too, yeah we would walk backwards uphill in a snowstorm to school with our Johnnie Walker at our sides et al. Video? why the very idea!
@@ScotchTestDummies They came out a few years after the trapper keeper. Same basic design but they were closed with a zipper that went around the whole binder instead of the velcro and were of higher quality.
Any more then $100 this comes off as a pass to me, sounds too smooth and mellow. May be eating my words tho, CS10, LORE and the Cairdeas don’t stay on the shelf long
😂 Scott doesn’t want to admit he knows what a Trapper Keeper is because his parents didn’t buy him one. Or maybe he blocked the memory out because the other kids made fun of him for not having one. It’s Ok, Scott. Kids made fun of me in third grade because my mom wouldn’t buy me a Trapper Keeper.
We also had trapper keepers in the 90's
Boom!
Three-ring binders were so cool in my day-canvas, vinyl-"woodgrained vinyl" was the best; I still have some of those, they're so pretty …
I also remember using brown paper bags to cover your history book. Ordered to do so in order to make it last. But then you could draw all over it! Yes

No 3 piece suits here. Great to have you on board

Tasty indeed!
We had Trapper Keepers, Scott! Even in the middle of nowhere, they were there. I loved them!
If he had seen the Star Wars one he would have begged for it.

I always get the peanut/cashew flavors in Laphroaig. I wonder if it comes from the Jim Beam barrels. I also get the peanut flavors in Jim Beam.
Laphroaig uses Maker's Mark. They have for the past 30 years, but there might be a possibility they also use other distillers bourbon barrels.
Good call

Excellent review as always - the Beatles of booze

Trapper keeper creator just died a couple weeks ago
Oh no, that’s too bad
Trapper keepers were awesome but they were replaced with the zippered 5 star binders.
I’ll have to go look at those. Don’t remember them.
@@ScotchTestDummies They came out a few years after the trapper keeper. Same basic design but they were closed with a zipper that went around the whole binder instead of the velcro and were of higher quality.
so is it as yummy and great as lagavulin 16?
Not as tasty as the Lag for bart
Bart should sit down when you record these videos. It would be interesting to see you do a Lagavulin 16 vs Laphroaig 16 video, blind.
Lol
I would pay so much for a Star Wars Trapper Keeper!
The Star Wars one would be badass

Good point
Trapper Keepers and Pee Chee folders!
Don’t remember those either!
I’ll take the lagavulin 16 over this on price alone.
