I’m a professional musician, but I find it fascinating to watch people go through figuring this stuff out with no training. It’s just awesome. Sometimes, academics can get a little bit torchbearer’y about knowledge that they’ve paid for or worked hard for, but it shouldn’t be that way, so I love this stuff.

It's quite interesting how access to internet over 25 years pretty much changed how we can learn and share knowledge. One can learn pretty much anything if only for own amusement. But as always, it's the hard work at the end to bring something unique. Yes I also love all the opportunities.
"Go to skill share to learn piano 🎹"
**3 secs later**
"I learned to play piano by watching RUclips videos"
Most honest though 😆
Simply Piano.
i very well learned piano from youtube lmao
F@CT$!!!!!
true true
Actually Skillshare wasn't around then.
I told my friend i have a hard time writing melodies, and a day later this gets recommended
Scary.
Literally same, told my friend last night
The fbi be listening my guy
Your friend works for youtube
Cause their always listening.....
Wait who else thought his first “bad” “random” melody was awesome?
🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️
I feel like it’s more about creating some and is unique as possible

F@CTS!!!
Not a unique melody he said😂that was dope
When you go under "helpers" to "scale highlighting" you dont need to draw these notes. This is much more faster and looks better! And you can see your notes in every pattern you have!
Yes, it's better.
yea
Yeah I wanted to include that as well but the vid was too long. Its true though
FL studio has a video on this subject on their YT website
Malte B. ruclips.net/video/wDQZkHgKcJU/видео.html i should continue or not?:/
At 5:30 he says that don’t just place melodies anywhere and he does it and it sounds better than all of the melodies I’ve ever made😭😭
I knowwww!
LMAO
I was thinking the same i was like how 😫😭
dont give up though then lmao
hahaha literraly bro. the look he made was like "oh shit this actually kinda goo but i have to say its eh"
This is helpful, no doubt. BUT, music theory helps really a lot. Even if you can play on any instrument you are still limited with your skill. With music theory your power as composer is really almost unlimited.
yeah I don't no i learned more on youtube in 6 months than in 5 years in music class
I actually learned music theory by a RUclips channel called Busy Works Beats.
Learning theory via RUclips is amazing. I’m a classical composer, and everything I know I either figured out by identifying patterns in stuff I had played or by watching RUclips (I learned very simple things like what basic chords (major, minor, diminished, dominant) are and some basic modes from my violin teacher.
spittin facts
if you cant hear it in your mind, music theory wont help. music theory is descriptive, not prescriptive.
When a you tuber teaches me more about composing music in 15 minutes than my music teacher could in *4 consecutive semesters.*
hmmm relatable
Sup, i am new here like everyone, i am wishing everyone good luck lol. (wish the same for me bc i am in need of it lol)
Quite encouraging when a Pro says "don't quote me on this because I dont know music theory myself"
A humble but smart guy. Good job!
2:06 lmao sounds like the old school PS2 startup sound
lmfao
while watching this video, i forgot the melody i had in my head...
thanks bro!
slavike ruclips.net/video/wDQZkHgKcJU/видео.html i should continue or not?:/
this is why i sometimes record audios in a whatsapp group, with myself in it only
to keep the melody i wont forget
Did you really forget that melody?
*O o f*
Full song for the first melody that you played on the piano!
Brute forcing a melody is not the most elegant way, but sometimes it's not about elegance but getting what you need 👍🏻
honestly, seeing you make the melody was really helpful. seeing someone making something and analyzing it is a great way to learn, thanks Arcade!
I've been looking for tutorials to make music for a while, and I finally found something to help me with it.
Thank you so much! It really helped!
Alex Rome is a channel to check out as well when you finish everything on arcade’s. It’s hull of mini tips although the videos get repetitive and boating after a while.
Helpful with no doubt. We can learn so much from such videos. Making good melodies is fundamental for producing beautiful music. The melody is the heart of a song. It gives the emotion, the vibe to the track. So we shouldn't mess it up. Wishing you all the best!
I always wonder what people do who don't know music when they create like this. I'm glad people are out there figuring it out for everyone. Respect.
I will definitely try these tips, I know some music theory but I'm a little slow with thinking of the notes, that first tip with the ghost notes will be a huge help
I stoped the video at 7:30 min to say that its a perfect Tutorial
Much thanking dude U helped me so much :'(
wow, that's great @Arcade nice work
Dude, this is really, like one of the best tutorials for melodies! Thanks!
Great tips and what a very friendly character you have. Very pleasing to follow!
I'm not sure how exactly the algorithm determined I would want to see this,
but I'm glad it did.
wow dude after seeing ur tutorial now i make amazing melodies
You’re my favorite content provider . Everything you do is fire
Great tutorials for beginners ;) keep them coming bro ty :))
I love the way you teaching. I can watch your video 1hr without skipping. Seriously 😉
Thanks so much! Helped me a bunch bud!
Wow, thx for this amazing idea!!
Thank you! That was a great tutorial!
5:26
That actually sounds good 😂😂
Hey there -really appreciate the video !!Just a suggestion :The way you have used Stem for creating scale , I've seen people use ' Scale highlighting ' feature to create Scales under : Helpers - Scale highlighting - Choose the scale mode say :Major , then again go to Helpers -Scale highlighting - choose the note say C .This will create the same result for C major scale as you did with all the cloning stuff . Maybe you shud give that a try .
Really helpful. Great video my man!
I find it very inspiring that the person who composes the melody wanted me to have this gift so I recommend it
Very Educative!
I learned more from this.
Many Thanks to you Legend 🙏🙏
Amazing! great arcade video. I like your content, keep it up!
very helpful tutorial! I'm surprised by how well this actually worked
I have learned music theory, but to create the melodies and music in fl studio using piano roll are another thing, as i have been a musician for live performance and sound technician.
I'm in a situation suffering with PTDS, and can't handle all the people anymore.
But still need to make music as it gives my life value.
And i have started to use fl studio, and are learning the features here, instead of Cubase where we did live recordings, and it's all so very different.
I have the idea´s for melodies but needed tools and guidance to get my melodies into the music without a band, and your Video are a HUGE help THANKS
Good video. Don't forget, you can break the scale if you're looking to add some dissonance or a chromatic phrase/key change.
bro thank you so much you have just gave me the key to keep up on music production
That first tip with the ghost notes is really good. I'll no longer have to switch back and forth between my 2 monitors to make sure I'm still playing in the right scale. I also do still randomly make my melodies the difference is, I do the record notes and play randomly, then find the scale and go from there. I also make sure the notes aren't off rhythm either.
This comment is for people who understand music theory. If you don't understand music theory, then ignore this comment.
4:32 - That's a B diminished chord. You can use diminished chords in progressions. If used properly, then a chord progression will sound great. Diminished chords are special chords that are part of a major scale right before you start a new octave. In a diminished chord, the third note is 1 below a minor chord, while that minor chord has a note that is not a part of the scale.
You can use whatever you want in a progression. After that you need to change them to fit a better voicing.
“NERD”
@@daisyquisel9875 Same. I like not knowing how to make a BASIC major or minor scale.
Dude, you are right. But the video is for people who don't know music theory, so they can understand. Because they wouldn't understand something like this, not without music theory. Although you're right about the diminished, they're quite interesting if used properly.
@@giankarlo5521 Im sure at least someone can relate to me not knowing what the fuck you guys are even saying
I m unable to make the melody that I have on my mind 😢😢
If nothing you try sounds close to what's in your head, then your chord progression is probably wrong for the melody you're going for. Try a different chord on the part where you are stuck. Don't be afraid to change keys. Just remember that your melody has to change with it unless the notes work in both keys.
@@ofadetergentsud The problem is in your head you have a bunch of sounds, when you wrote it, probably most of the time you have to change key, and rhythm.
Fuck around on the piano roll until you find it
@@KidneysHurt surprisingly this is very true
Relatable.
This is great. It's so funny because of how straightforward it is, too
Exactly I learnt something using this video. Thank you so much dear!
My man thank you so much. Your tips were very helpful.
Thank you very much, greetings from Mexico.Your video was very useful to me, thank you very much

thank you so much arcade you learnme how to do a nice melody
u got my subscribe man, i really have problem with chord progress, its like i dont know what im gonna do next. but i have a lot of ideas to create :(
once again, thank you
pretty helpful thanks been looking for videos to help me learn the software
Good motivation ...Very nice thank you
Couple of other ways I use to find melodies:
1) You have your chord progression and bass notes. These have velocities that vary. Use Edison to record (no drums) and you can port that combo of notes into a channel. Move the notes into one single octave. Scale the levels. Quantize, and move it up one octave. Combine and merge notes that are on top of eachother and close by. Adjust notes out of the scale. A few tweaks and you have your lead vocals. Harmonize to taste.
2) Use the Question and Answer method. Ask a question and answer it using notes of the chords while playing. You can record your "question" and "answer" in Edison like you stated to hum it in another video. Change the Q and A to fit 4 bars.
This video was very helpful!! Thanks!
Arcade is my favourite RUclipsr, you're perfect bro
Thank you. Very useful video.
Thanks you,this help me alot.
You Always help me a lot. Keep going 🧡
I have never noticed this because I thought I have a bug in the mobile version of FL studio, so it's a feature :) I really appreciate it :) I subbed to you
How I didn't find this channel before !!!👏
As someone who plays piano and knows a bit of music theory, that first tip looks like a GODSEND. I know my scales, but its been a pain having to constantly check where I'm placing the note and if its on the right thing, whereas now I know I can do that and it'll be a lot easier to place in line with the note.
Me too😂😭
this was soooo helpful, thank you!
that first way is actually such a good idea, idk how ive never thought of that myself
Based on the thumbnail I expected this to be another video acting as if simply being in key and following a few rules will make a good song. I was pleasantly surprised to see actual advice.
Thank you! This is very helpful! 👍

That was helpful dude thank you! :)
at 6:40 i'm bobbing my head and Arcade says "see I made a mistake" I'm like "Whaaaa?"

Nice n thnx bro I was very confused to making melodies.
Excellent video!
You made my melody making esay. This is the video I need.
I made 9 songs already and I first time heard about music theory lmao
Lots of thanks!
4:50 are "gold skies" chords (Martin Garrix)
Thanks a lot bro great works
WOW so you're basically building a little skeleton or a note chart directly below your current composition, that's so smart omg!!
You are best bro i have never subscribe anyone in my life u r the first one who deserve love the way u teach ❤
Duuude you make sense to me! Thank you!
Brilliant video 👌👏
Thank you so much for this tutorial
you are a genius...luv u dude...
This is top video and very helping for me
Amazing video... Thank you :)
I know music theory, so producing this way mathematically is a little hard for me haha. But it's good for those who don't know music theory and I'm definitely recommending this to those who are in the need. Thank you very much :)

@@Drakensson I am unable to give an obvious shit.
Thanks for the help
This helped a lot I had to sub💯
If u want to make great melodies or great chords u need to learn music theory.. this type of video are enough only for beginner.. if u want to know when u can go out of the scale or out of the chords u need to help you creativity with the theory.. and if u create decisions and obligations in your process then the creativity starts to work better. If u have Unlimited possibilities u get stuck instantly, like having tons of sounds.. thats creates only unsatisfaction..
Nicely explained
This is really helpful as I'm used to playing guitar rythm and just started with experimenting with piano midi notes on piano roll. My producer did a great job with the piano for one of my songs. I think he actually played it and managed to somehow not play entirely over the verses but fill certain parts in a simple but very effective way without playing the melody lyrics. Kinda find it hard to explain this. I'm really stuck as how to do this in piano roll to humanize a new song without playing the actual melody lyric notes as I tend to do this instead and I find it easier but want steer clear from this. Also I try to compensate by perhaps using too many chords.Previously used to playing rythm over my tracks. Maybe this is why I'm struggling a bit.
wow tnx a lot man it helps me a lot
Thanks. I didn't know music theory and this helped me a lot😄😃
