Performed this with my adult 130 voice chorale. These kids are truly fantastic. Thanks also directors for molding them into singers with a great variety of repertoire!
Louis Vierne (1870-1937) was born nearly blind from congenital cataracts, and late in life his eyesight worsened, so he was what we would call "legally blind," although not totally so. From 1900 until his death he was the organist at Notre Dame in Paris. He died suddenly of a stroke or heart attack (reports differ) on June 2, 1937, while performing an organ concert at Notre Dame. His pupils included two very famous musicians: Nadia Boulanger, who nurtured the careers of many early 20th-century composers and the organist/composer Maurice Duruflé.
The Kyrie is one of the "great sings" that all of us trebles used to love. Well done GBC for this rendition - you did a great job IMO! We never got to sing it in France with a French sounding organ, though the Willis organ in our place was a marvellous instrument to be sure. BTW have you trebles ever done Ceremony of Carols? I think you could really do it justice. :-)
Agreed as regards St S and the (largely?) Cliquot sound. But if one goes to, for example, Sees, Rouen or Nancy one can hear Cavaille-Coll organs and French reeds that are truly wondrous!

We have sung the Ceremony of Carols. Deo Gracias, Balulalow, and There is No Rose of Such Virtue are on RUclips.
Beautiful - but I am still to be converted to the French organ reeds.
