Thanks for this info! And the mentos picture was too funny. I was stuck at a certain pace for several years. I cut running to 3 days a week, and did a bootcamp style class 3x week with some heavy lifting, and cut a minute per mile off, running less! I'm sold on the benefits...I just struggle with the time. I'm finally prioritizing my running, and can't wait to see how much progress i make over the winter with base building and cross training!

Love the video editing. I truly hope your content catches on. If you start offering individual coaching, I would be very interested in starting the process.

Swimming is great weight loss activity because it uses a lot of energy

I have a question, if I ride my bike about 100 km/week anyway for commuting, about how many km/week of running would this be able to replace? Especially if at least 10-20 km of this is biking right into Dutch headwinds, which is way more intense for my quads than most strength training? I have a goal of breaking the 3 hour marathon mark in the near future, but I know at this point I can't do the 120 km/week you recommended in another video without getting injured.

This video popped up just as I finished taping up my Achilles which is acting like a b@stard in the last days (tendinisis or bursitis, something). So yea, I'm gonna do some cross training while the darn tendon bevahes again (hopefully).

I just come across this video by recommendation. Thanks for the info about cross training.
Recently I'm thinking to add bike or elliptical training session in my schedule as alternative exercise.
Which one do you think is much appropriate for trail training session ?
    Thanks

I think cycling is a good one as it builds quad strength and thats super important for downhill running

Is it worth trying to cross train at 60-70km/week? I look at the bike, but always end up going for a run to try add more mileage..

If you are possible to run more, you are lucky one. I do bike because I easily get shin splint, so I need some replacement...

Also, my experience - in February my record on 5k was 22:15 (i started running last year). I ran 50-70km peer week and got injury. I couldn't run for 3 months!!! Actually, maybe i could, but i always wasn't patient enough and after several days of pause I started running and got same problem after a few days. So last 2 months i run only 15-20km per week (actually, i wish to run more, but feel pain in same area...). So i do bike, around 70km per week. And you know ehat? Week ago i decided to check 5 km again, first time after February. And i did it in 21:45, about 30 seconds faster! Well, maybe it is not only cross training, i also tried to improve my technic, i did some power training from time to time. Anyway, even with less mileage i was able ti run faster.

yes definitely - the bike can help build up the base for you to be able to run more in the future
