The story premise and art style of Expedition 33 gives me Lost Odyssey vibes.
Wilds is my GOTY for next year and I'll be kicking the year off with Wuthering Waves on PS5 and Dynasty Warriors Origins. I also love the Legend of Dragoon inspired combat.

I miss lost odyssey. The game can use a remake or remaster for sure. I need DWO in my hands asap. I can't wait to start streaming it

Suikoden is based on an old Chinese story of the 108 stars of destiny (as I recall). In each game there are 108 characters to play as (107 to recruit, plus yourself). You play with 6 characters at a time.
The way it works is a little different in each. Some are just fighters. Some will also perform specific functions at base of operations. And, different combinations of those 108 will allow for special attacks. So, a character who seems weak may actually pair with another character to do major special abilities (attack/buff/heal/debuff). I think in later games the special “pairings” could include more than 2.
1 and 2 were very good games. 3 was a masterpiece. 3 came out at the same time as Final Fantasy 10 (which was hugely popular and well regarded). Suikoden 3 flew under the radar by comparison, but, I think Suikoden 3 was the better between it in Final Fantasy 10 (which was still a great game).
If you haven’t played 1 and 2 (they are about 30 years old at this point, not sure how many PS1 games you’ve played) they’re incredibly fun games.
Suikoden 4 is the one we pretend never happened. They can’t all be winners. 3 out of 4 isn’t bad!

I've played many PS1 games due to me growing up playing PS1, N64, super Nintendo etc. I played suikoden 2 mostly but it was like not as much as I would like probably due to ADHD and just playing so many games. So it is something I would love to play again with no distractions. One reason why I been loving these remasters and remakes cause I get to relive childhood and beat these games I never got a chance to finish either by losing a copy of the game or something along the lines of it

FYI Scarlet Nexus was a hack n slash, not a soulslike. Ai Limit looks interesting, a souslike without a stamina meter.
Dynasty Warriors, Tales of Graces, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Clair Obscur, we eating good this year with both old school games and modern games

The best part of tales of graces f remastered is that it's only $40.

40 bucks is pretty steep but for what they're offering plus original dlc and complete overhaul it's not too bad. It's definitely better than dropping 70 bucks for a remaster lol

@ChaosDTV coming from the wii and ps3 era, it was a game i never got the chance to play. With it adding all dlc, additional content, and voice acting for everything, I think the $40 is a good place to start. By summer i can assume it'll be $25-30 on sale.

@nicholasjackson8709 it's definitely a complete package altogether. Maybe a steam sale will definitely help in long run for easier accessibility
