    Some people are providing helpful advice. Others aren't helping the situation at all. He could have done some things different, but overall it looks like he got the job done well enough for it to work. Life is a learning curve and there's always plenty more to know how to do.

    Check out Odell complete concrete for better example this guy did it the hard way, Odell had several videos where he pours slabs, you can tamp doing the pour as you screed, not as shown here.

    I'm a second generation concrete finisher and have been placing and finishing for a little over 10 years and I am just going to say every bit of that is wrong. Always pour wet enough that you can work it but not to wet because it weakens the strength of the concrete. Tap the forms beforw yoy screed or do anything for that matter while its still wet. After screeding your slab flat throw that crap you were tamping with in a dumpster take your bull float and run it opposite way you screed so that you get it flat and work the board lines out and push the cream where needed not in the same direction you screed. Then fix your edges with a mag. Use a 4' Fresno to slick it and then touch up your edges not try to board something that big with a 12" steel square trowel. And never hold your trowel at that high of an angle. Always low. You don't need to keep a broom finish wet for 7 days. Typical concrete is normally almost 3000 psi within 24 hrs

      Thank you I’m a union journeyman finisher and I was thinking the same thing we never do anything this guy did for one it should be flat off the screed and second we vibrate any edges or columns or anything else that would need vibrated and we use trowel machines to finish and we never keep it wet for 7 days lol the only thing he did right was kneel on them boards but didn’t trowel right I can hear the chatter he was leaving behind

    Read some of the comments sorry people treat you like that I'm an old concrete guy I can tell you worked hard are trying to do the best job you can but you turned out good the more you do it the more tricks you learn yes used to trowels get a pair of aluminum kneeboards hit it a couple times Peach Pass will take you about 15 minutes 2 when capping your forms 2 not get honeycomb do it right after you pour when you did it it was too late the mud was too hard same with camping do it right after you pour and fill your holes from your boots by filling the holes with your boots you waited too long in the mud was too hard those are just some tricks you learn hope this was helpful from an old concrete guy

      Adding water to concrete weakens it

    • @dillonmckown374
      @dillonmckown374 6 лет назад +1

      @The bomb no your wrong water is not the cure. Wow you know nothing it will cause Spaulding if you place water on top of already wet concrete. You buy what is called curing compound and you spray that on top of the finished concrete. And then after 28 days the concrete is at its strongest and will only continue to cure and get stronger as time goes on.

    • @willbattersby3422
      @willbattersby3422 5 лет назад

      If it is too hot outside, concrete can cure too fast and overheat. It is a chemical reaction that causes heat. Especially in Alabama during the summer months, we will pour in the morning and by the afternoon the concrete has set up enough where we put sprinklers on to cool the concrete off. If concrete is not cooled off it can cause it to crack and weaken. But we do it on slab pours.

    Wow,,,this Guy shouldn be aloud to post somthing like that,,,,First trowing water on the slab is wrong, there is good chance of scalling,,,,Passing the bull float over and over is wrong too,,,use you bull float to hide the stone from the concrete, level your slab and get some Cream out,,,,ounce it s all done,,,Waiting time, then you go on with a hand float and 20 inches trowel to finish it,,,,,

    ,,I think it would be better next time if you skipped the jitterbug,,,,and bull floated earlier you would be able to work it and fix the highs and lows,,,and vibrate the forms when you put it in, not once it sets up...alot of homeowners wouldn't even have tried it, good to see your willing to...good luck with your future projects

    I have always consolidated the concrete along the forms by using a vibrator or, with even better results, jabbing it thoroughly (you can feel when it is mixed) with a stick or shovel. I found that to be much more effective. I see some criticism of the jitter-bug method of finishing, but it works really well for lower slump mixes.

  • @garyallen1198
    @garyallen1198 6 лет назад +1

    your slab has lots of ruts because you made them with your boots at the beginning you should have made the mix wetter that way the concretye would literally find its own level tamping lightly would leave the concrete nice and level you have worked hard for nothing

      George Greb don't know where to start. could've poured it just little wetter- waited too long jitter bug or tamp it then try and bullfloat it. would not have had holes to fill if he would have jitterbugged it sooner. when finishing the floor he should rub it out with a mag float before running the trowel over the floor. rubbing it with a float will bring the cream up to give the trowel something to finish He should use a larger trowel - I used 18 in trowel for 20 years on most floors only used a smaller one on steps. he probably left a lot of chatter marks. needs to learn how to move his knee boards. should finish on both sides then front of himself. if you learn how to move your knee boards. you could have that floor finished in 15 min and have it it like a piece of glass. takes time to learn how to finish but once you do it's not hard. he worked way to hard on that project. also it shouldn't matter what kind of use the floor is getting. should always be the best you can give. he mentioned he finishes according to the usethe floor gets not good way to do it

      George Greb nothing like this, screed then bullfloat then leave it the fuck alone until it finishes bleeding. Work all that water back in and it will be weak as shit and peel and craze. Guy is as stupid as they come, that "slab" is junk and it was braced like a child anyway. Great work!
      But what do I know, pour a floor a day and live off of it, when I say you look like you should be in jail it's probably just me
