Give her a huge hug from me ! I’ve poured by myself and it’s not fun if the Sun is even hinting of showing itself, thanks for putting up this video!!!!!
It's refreshing to see a young lady such as Tia giving the whole concreting trade a go hard go...it's a testament not only to her and her work ethic (she's doing a damn fine job), but also to the ethics instilled by both yourself and her mother...so many teens and young adults today seem to be allergic to any form of labourious work...if it involves them lifting a finger from either a controller or keyboard...and heaven forbid breaking a sweat...it's almost like asking them to donate a kidney. Great work Mike...and great work Tia...have watched many videos of yours, and you never ever see her shy away from doing any of the works from pouring, pushing, magging, bull floating and edging...like I said, very refreshing to see!!!! Cheers from Sydney Australia!!!!!
I agree with u about those young people they wake up mornings to go pee and right back to bed I feel sorry for this great country here with the coming work force well I gonna retire soon I did my put my hours in and then some
Excellent video for sharing how two people can finish a pad. Tia, is better than most men in the business. She’s a keeper for sure lol. Keep up the great work, looking for some videos for retainer wall’s now. I know you have some just have to find them.
Great job raising your daughter! She's awesome. She's very attentive and understands the goal. She also understands time keeps slipping thru the hourglass by how she does without being directed or reminded. Enjoy watching you brah...
You should be Very Proud of your daughter (as I'm sure you are). Concrete is hard enough work for most men. So a girl that 'can' work concrete is Very Special.
I laid my 10' × 12' shed floor with the help of one man (who helped barrow the concrete, and then screed it). Took two days (working part time) to form up the slab and get it square. One foot footings around the side, and 4 inch slab in the middle. I've never done concreting before, so took my time to get everything set up. On pour day, the driver was brilliant. Knowing that this was my first pour, he first checked to make sure that the form work as ready and fit for purpose (and commented that I had the forms exactly square) and then wet down the concrete slightly to give us more time to spread and screed it. He even showed me how to get a good finish with my trowel. 23 years later, the floor is still good, with minimal cracking. It was only a small shed floor, but I'm still proud of what we achieved.
Great pour..It's always great to have a two person team no matter the job size. My high school buddy helps me all the time. I always ask help from my sister during the week since she is a stay at home mom and she only lives like 6 blocks from me and i pickup her up on the way to work. My brother also helps me on the weekends if it's a big job. My sister usually does the washing of the equipment, picks up forms, stakes, hand tools, goes into town and buys our lunch etc. That saves alot of time for us.
I will never understand how you have the energy / time to work this hard and then film and edit all of this content. TONS of respect for the work you do! Great job!
Thanks for the video. I had my daughter help me doing jobs around the house, she also went to work with me. I am retired plumber so she got to see most of the trades. She has never not had a job, worked through the pandemic, not afraid of anything, and has a great job at costco and heading to manager. Great job dad! and the concrete too.
I have watched several different videos of yours. I see you doing everything: building forms to pouring to smoothing to cleaning… For someone like me it means a lot to see the boss man doing the grunt work as well as the finesse. Thanks for another video
I saw someone comment on one of your videos saying you need to eat something. One thing I’ve learned is if you’re doing concrete work like this by yourself a lot at times , it’s good to be lightweight healthy. Have plenty of cardio. IMO cardio is is important for this type of work, especially summer time! You look great mike and work looks great also! Thanks for the free lessons on here !
It’s always so nice to be able to do things with our children. If I do decide to pour a shed floor, I’ll have my son help with that. Really cool video but you guys make it all look so very easy.
I never tire of your videos. Of all the RUclips channels I watch, you've got the smoothest "FM DJ" voice out there. At times, I'll just run the video in the background while working. Not a concrete guy; I just enjoy watching concrete work.
Hey Mike been working with my father for 15 year before I came long it was him and one guy for 20 years, our scope of work has grown a bit but we still only run a four man crew most days. When a floor is big enough the laser screed comes out we hire a few other small finish crews for the day. I enjoy jobs like you did in the video on my own you get to make it exactly as you like.
My hats off to you. I think it’s a good thing letting your daughter work with you. And my hats off to her as well. Not many young people even get out of the house let alone go to work.
Great Video Mike. I can appreciate it on many levels. I was my dad's helper. You cant replace or put a price tag on a trade, craftsmanship, or work ethic. I see all that in your videos.
Your daughter is a very competent worker. I employ 2 guys in New Zealand, doing mainly driveways. There aren’t many female concrete workers here, but I can honestly say that the couple who have helped me over the years were awesome, they put some of the guys to shame
I just diy an 18x18, that bending over business was tough. First time doing something like that. Lots of respect for those that do it for a living. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the next episode.
I do Construction in 🇨🇦 , Manitoba. I work with 2 of my boys. That works the best. We don't do to much concrete, but if we do they know what to do. Love your channel, learned a lot
Thanks for showing these videos. I'm mulling over the possibility of pouring a 10x12 slab in my back yard to build a shed from scratch.. and install a small dry sauna in that too. But I'd have to get something like a mixer and just do it bag by bag. Don't want to have to hire a pumper truck to carry it over the house and into the yard. I'm in a neighborhood with starter homes and smaller yards. Anyway, your videos are starting to give me a much better idea of what I'm in for if I move forward... thank you.
What a beautiful young lady, and so great that she was able to help you. Honestly she seems to do the job better than most of the guys I've worked with. LMAO keep up the good work y'all.
I've seen greenhouses that have corrugated pipes running underground that they pump air through and it basically thermal regulates it and they don't need to worry about heating/cooling systems, just a fan to move the air through the pipes. Since the ground at a certain depth maintains a constant temperature, it works.
The only problem with magged pads is knowing if they are flat I’m a union finisher and we always mag it but then pull pads off the wall or we pas the screed side to side to make sure it’s flat, not saying u do it wrong ur a pro and I love the channel and what it stands for learned a lot from u keep up the good work brother
How long has she been working for you? She looks like a pro!! I wish I knew how to do this type of work, my concrete driveway is all cracked and sinking going into my garage..:(
If you don’t have to worry about blowing forms out I like to have the teamster spin the truck fast without overflowing the chute to get them far reaching corners. Little less pulling! Good tool to learn as chute man and laborers always thank you in the end :)
I am not sure if it was commented in the previous 174 but the tubes are more than likely for a climate battery. Basically during hot times they will pump heat down in the ground and it will cool the air on exit. Then during winter they can pump cold air down to warm up on exit. Basically a geothermal battery using air and ground mass to regulate temperatures
Your biggest help was the fact that you poured about a 6-7 slump so it lays down easy and caps with lots of cream. All the rocks sink so you aren't fighting them at the surface. You said you always pour with fiber mesh and water reducer so that allows for a wet lay down and easy work. Nice!
This is super helpful. Considering pouring my own garage slab and hand trowel finishing it. Either 12x24 and then another 8x24 beside it later on or maybe the full 20x24 at once.
Nice work the both of you 👍🏻 I was wondering if you could make a short video and zoom in on those cuts? I’d really like to see that soft cut machine in action. Normally we have to go back the next day to do our cuts. Thanks!
Pretty sure those black columns are "Thermal" vents allowing year round 55ish degree ground temp to help warm the building in winter temps. Not 100% sure but I said it anyway🤷
Exactly what I'm thinking. Especailly being in a colder environment, and not having any posts for a heater. Being that they put a drain in the center, it seems like they thought this out and aren't doing the standard plain floor greenhouse. Then again, I come from professional greenhouse environment, so everything is a little different than something this small.
I hope your daughter cherishes every second with you. My daughter is a drug addiction. She grew up working with me and I miss it greatly.
That girl can rake concrete better than half of the union NJ local 3 laborers God Bless you taught her well
Two person job !! Tia rocks !! you taught her well . Blessings
That girl is soo great. She knows exactly what to do with no screwing off check'n dat sail foam every minute etc..
Tia is one hell of a worker.......you have to be a proud father !!!
I am, yes!
Give her a huge hug from me !
I’ve poured by myself and it’s not fun if the Sun is even hinting of showing itself, thanks for putting up this video!!!!!
your daughter is a great worker
Tia is the real mvp of the crew! 👍
It's a joy when you get to work with your kid

Great job raising your daughter! She's awesome. She's very attentive and understands the goal. She also understands time keeps slipping thru the hourglass by how she does without being directed or reminded. Enjoy watching you brah...
You taught your daughter well, she jus’ gets in there and do whatever has to be Done!👍🤙🏽
You should be Very Proud of your daughter (as I'm sure you are). Concrete is hard enough work for most men. So a girl that 'can' work concrete is Very Special.
You raised a winner.
This is just an Awesome video with your daughter helping you.
Very cool working with your Daughter!!!
Props to your Daughter, she's a beast!

Thank you. It's a lot of work, but rewarding because of people like yourself who leave nice comments 😊

Great job teaching the kids so now they can help and help themselves. God bless
That's so cool to be able to work with your daughter. She's a hard worker, and she knows what it takes to be successful. Love the videos !
Nice work! Tia is a little trooper.
You got that right!
Tia you are an absolute rockstar girl !!! You put grown ass men to shame girl ❤️❤️
Tia does awesome! Me and the wife poured our concrete for our barn porch.
Great video Mike. A big shout out to Tia who really knows how to use a rack and mag. Looking forward to the next video.

Looks great! I am a concrete pumper but I have learned so much from you that I start doing the concreting when I pumping. True!
Awesome, thanks Ben!
Tía is ready to kick screed !
Great video. Thanks for the detailed information on doing this work. I'm planning to pour a slab in about a month and this will help a lot.
It’s always so nice to be able to do things with our children. If I do decide to pour a shed floor, I’ll have my son help with that. Really cool video but you guys make it all look so very easy.
You guys make it look easy.

I enjoy your videos. Ive been there and done it but you more than me. Really cool your daughter helps out. No substitute for experience.
Mike you and Tia make it look so easy. Great work. Thanks for the video.
That is greuat, my wife has helped in many house projects, fences, welding, mechanics, and pouring concrete is next.
You guys make pouring a slab look easy. Thank you for the video.
I just got done doing a 'one man' truss setting with my daughter. We're building a post frame woodshop and she helps with the harder stuff 😉
Great video Mike, it helps having someone with experience and Tia knows what she is doing 👍. I love the finishing. Stay safe and healthy thanks 😊

Very small easy pour. Never a doubt between you two lol. That floor drain really makes it a simple pour.
It did, yes. Like a screed rail.
Great Video Mike. I can appreciate it on many levels. I was my dad's helper. You cant replace or put a price tag on a trade, craftsmanship, or work ethic. I see all that in your videos.
great job and tia you rock girl amazing skills greetings from the netherlands
I'm gonna watch all your videos and hopefully learn enough to do this. Thanks Mike
Tia is a Boss!
Your daughter is a very competent worker. I employ 2 guys in New Zealand, doing mainly driveways. There aren’t many female concrete workers here, but I can honestly say that the couple who have helped me over the years were awesome, they put some of the guys to shame
love your vids man .. im over in NB canada .. appreciate how you talk about your daughter :) got three myself.

That finish was fine 😃
Hello, Mike! You did a great job with these videos. Thanks a lot. This is really helpful to me. Good luck in all your endeavors.
Its awesome that you have help. My step father used ro do concrete. So i can always rely on him for advice. I think my nephew would help if i asked.
Your videos always help.
You do really good work, make it look easy,a person could learn a lot working with you
Yep. It helps. Thanks
Both of you done a very nice job!!
Great work Bro.
You clearly are very skilled at this. A shout out to your side kick. 😀
Thank you
Concreting is easy when you know what you doing 👍✌️great videos
Ive seen Tia work.... She's better then most men I've worked with. So the title should really say ...."I helped Tia pour a slab"....
Just sayin 🤷
And simp comment of the day. And there was quite a bit to choose from
Simp 😂

Another pro job my Mike & Tia! Thank you for the great video.
vertical culverts may be for some type of earth cooling or heating via air movement, or they are for frost protected hydrants, i have seen both.
This going to be my second time. My father n law helping me. 26'x47' & extending my driveway. I'm going to ask both brothers too!
Your daughter is getting really skilled . Get ready for the pay raise
Quality and passionate, Respect!
Good job father and daughter 🙂

Very interesting to see final result - hardened
Excelente y muy bonito trabajo felicitaciones 👌👌 saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱👌💯
I like to spend bit more time on the straight edge and cut bit tighter on drain. That big mag looks like hard work .
Awesome channel and content, Mike.
Thank you!

Great job as always Mike, where in Maine do work around. Would love to meet you and Tia.
Your daughter Tia is better help than most of the men we have.
Love those kids
Good work ethics
Your daughter looks like a professional. Regardless this gives me some confidence to do it mostly myself. It seems like everything else, 90%prep work
Good work good Tim
Great job!
Excellent work man

Hey great job Mike and Tia! Here in Detroit we have a gravel hauling company that does our trucking called Tia Marie it’s the owner daughter.
