Pimax is a one of a kind company, the VR space would be a lot duller and less interesting without you. Here's to another 8 years of Pimax!

Congratulations on 8 years of success Robin. I've greatly enjoyed participating in amazing discussions on the Forums, brainstorming with so many people about the future of VR, and I still love my pimax 4K to this day.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the 12 k and congratulations on a successful Crystal launch

The interchabagle lens system was a great idea, hope you keep it in your future systems.
And are not afraid to design more complex high quality multi element systems as additional upgrades, even if they are more expensive.

Very much enjoying my jump up and Clarity from my 8kx to my crystal. The visible difference is jaw dropping. But I really really really need the wide field of view with the clarity of the crystal.

They have the potential but their products have poor QC and it is a lottery to get a good working product. I know many VR companies have QC issues but the quantity at which Pimax products fail is far more than that of their competitors. If they get their QC, customer support and shipping/delivery sorted, they can potentially become a household name to all VR hobbyists delivering high quality VR leading products

I have never Owned a Pimax. I started with a Rift S then moved to a HP G2. I often wonder where I will go next. Pimax has made more of a impact on the VR frontier it its direction to VR for consumer use then a lot of other VR makers. I get that Facebook guys stuff is sold more then all the others but he has cornered the market with the price in that area. I left the Rift S because of That. I don't want base stations, VR on PC is for me. If all I know is HP G2 then I have no clue what I could have. The lucky people are the ones that get it all for free as partners. That is a lot of money for most people for VR. We all do not make 6 figure income. This Guy made a good Video and I honestly appreciate this honest look into his Dream. Thank You Sir.

The velcro that we attach the face cushion to, is coming off, what glue was used, or what glue would you recommend to reglue the velcro to the Crystal headset. ??

Still waiting for 12K reveal. Personally, I need max of FOV and QLEDs(or better) as a displays for vibrant colors. I don't mind slightly distortions on the image edges(my 8KX is perfectly fine, I don't really noticing it). Hell, I even ok with freshnel lenses! LOL. The current (Crystal) form factor also doesn't bother me much. So, to summarize up: I'll be happy if you provide to me the same 8KX experience but with slightly better visuals and a large FOV as the main feature. Audio is perfect already, simply copy it over.
Crystal isn't "my cup of tea", sorry. 12K❤

Oh! And BTW I do consider technical limitations for 12K throughput which will require a brand new 5090 with (finally) implemented DP v2.0

make it smaller and lighter.... that`s `it nothing more - this housing really doesn't have to be that wide... reduce the width of the housing and you will gain thousands of new users....

    • @montrose699
      @montrose699 9 месяцев назад +4

They are trying to keep production streamline so the housings are shared. I am sure the 12k will use the same housing. Having a bunch of different parts increases costs and production time.

I wish could still use my 5k reliably. It hasnt receive a firmware update in over 3 years and every game and app crashes after only a few min of operation.

Love it how Pimax (still) claims false FOV numbers and then debunks it themselves in the same video

I'm jumping out of PCVR until about 2025, to jump back into a 5090 with hopefully a Pimax headset that isn't wasting my time with "Stand-Alone" features that I will never use, because the mobile chipset will never be powerful enough to push the specs on such an HMD.
My only wish from you, is that you start forging a path instead of following when it comes to the controller designs.
You'll still be following in someone elses footsteps, but you'll at least be following a path that isn't a dead end gimmick.
Learn to cut an Xbox controller in half instead of trying to clone Vive Wands and Oculus Controllers.
VR Still needs buttons inputs to give end users like me OPTIONS!
    OPTIONS ARE GOOD!
Deleting d-pads from the controller, deletes options.
    Re-arranging buttons, deletes familiarity.
One day I hope the entire VR industry learns that Flat gaming inputs can co-exist with an HMD adding 3D and Headtracking to a game.
It took getting RE8 on the PSVR 2 to prove that Automatic and Manual reloads can co-exist in the same game.
3D and Headtracking doesn't have to be gatekept by a gimmick that's more interested in showing off how much hand waving it can force on gamers rather than just providing what it is at the end of the day.
A 3D monitor that you wear on your face. This is what I have bought 5 different VR systems for. For the 3D and Headtracking. Not to stand up and wave my hands around just to open doors in Video games.
It's sad that Modders like Luke Ross are the only ones currently providing a proper justification for owning an HMD at all and I have to wonder how many of his mods might actually have added Motion support if the motion controllers weren't Vive Wand Touchpads and D-Padless garbage.
If it's a copyright issue that keeps you from providing a Split XBox Controller design. Pay whatever needs to be paid in order to get the rights to make it. Stop f'ing around.
Now on the side affect of making such a controller.
You know what the market needs? A Split Xbox controller design for playing Flat games. For ergonomic reasons.
A Universal motion controller that can play everything in and outside of an HMD and is familiar to everyone that picks it up.
VR games that are like Gran Turismo 7 and freely transition into and out of VR instead of.... "VR Only" walled experienced approach.
Don't be afraid of making it. If I had the engineering know how and the monetary backing, I'd make it my f'ing self and become rich in the process. But I don't have those kind of resources.
All I have, is being a consumer knowing exactly what I want out of my HMD. And it's not this standing hand waving gimmick.
The most that I want out of motion is aiming the weapon for FPS shooters. The rest of the inventory management gimmick that is being forced as an only option because of the deleted d-pad, is crap.
Case in point, by the time I finished RE8 the Coat Pocket inventory system was still only about 50% consistent in responding to my intentions. Thankfully, I didn't have to use the Coat pocket that much to get through the game. What I mean is, that it usually required 2-3 attempts just to grab the correct spot to get the coat to open. In the heat of battle, this is really really stupid gameplay design.
You know how many different items the "Coat Pocket" faciliated? 4. 4 items. They deleted my D-Pad from me, so they can force that jank.
"Oh my god, it's just sooooo immersive to open this coat pocket to grab a land mine. It's just felt sooooo real!"
At least they managed to prove the automatic/manual issue never being a issue in the first place like the majority of VR reditards tried to push for the last 7 years.
    TLDR
The common denominator on every single VR system that is holding it back, is a crappy controller design that either tried to push Touchpads, or deleting and re-arranging buttons on the controllers.
WTF are you all so opposed to "Familiarity"?
And how did you all become so ignorant to how lazy gamers really are?
As a gamer. I'd rather press an A Button to open a door, than to reach down twisting fake door handles, just to watch my hand get stuck in the jank physics associated with opening said door.
A Button > Jank VR Only physics.
This is VR afterall, not PR. Time to start taking the liberties of what that affords, and realize that Flat gaming for the last 20+ some odd years has made a really polished accessible way to explore gaming worlds that doesn't gatekeep itself behind physicality. Flat gaming is a Better VR than what VR is being pushed as. It's just missing the 3D and Headtracking.
AT the end of it, the only reason I even want Motion aiming for FPS games is because it adds an element to the game that usually cannot be found. Being able to blind fire around corners and control it yourself. All the rest of the motion interactions that are being forced, do not really add elements to the game that I'm interested in. Because the elements they are adding is inconsistency. That's it. That's what Motion inventory management adds. Inconsistency.
And you all wonder why VR struggles to keep players like me interested? Why the grand majority of multiplayer FPS VR games are damn near dead on arrival?

Greetings from a Pimax fan :) A few years ago I wanted to try out the virtual world and spontaneously decided on the 8KX because it was very innovative, with a large field of view and made by a small, young, forward-looking company that has created amazing things in now 8 years. The 8KX worked immediately out of the box (even though I was a complete newbie) and after a learning curve of fine-tuning and a few little things, the device runs great. I'm now waiting for the 12K. I congratulate the Pimax team and wish them continued recognition and much success in the immediate future.
