You don't play football mate you also have a ball, you're running directly at someone, you are going at very high speeds, if you keep your leg planted you will probably break it. EXACTLYYY. The modern game ay? What can we say.
He shirked responsibility and now he can conveniently blame the ref instead of, by some freak occurrence, not score after simply skipping past Neuer and having the blame on him. He missed the bigger picture, literally. 99% chance of scoring a winner and would’ve been all over the back pages.

Should have. Decided not to dive… Neymar shit😭😭
Yeah should've removed his right leg completely so it didn't collide with the on rushing Neuer. He should've, using sheer force of will, forced Neuer not to kick out. And using his insane physics bending powers gone from full tilt to completely stopped to tip toe around the goalie and the defender for an open goal

Let’s be honest. Gabriel clearly wasn’t stopping anything. We knew his intention was to play the goal kick. He made a human error. If referee and VAR is allowed to have “human” errors then it’s clearly too stupid to award a penalty for this. I wouldn’t take this pen as an opponent.

I'm not saying he did it on purpose but he saw Gabriel approaching so he should have been more careful.
Someone needs to get every referee out of the game and get old ones back. Horrible decision at every point this season has ruined most of the teams

Nah Bro this isnt fair, we could've won and go with momentum in the 2nd leg. I hate Arsenal and that Saka thinking he can get a pen off a pathetic dive
Id rather have a ref that understands the game and simply allows football to be played rather than a robot following the written rules. You dont blow the whistle when its a change if player for the lineout, you just understand whats happening and let it be because it is normal and legiimate
Even Martinelli passed the ball 2 times when the ball was out of the line but refree didn't see it

Neuer was smart, he didn’t move because instead, saka ran into his leg which isn’t Neuers fault so he knew no penalty would be awarded

Ødegaard and Gabriel have found a new sport💀
I'm a Bayern fan, and I should say, Saka dives worse than Neymar and still gets away with it. That's crazyyy 💀💀
How do u explain harry kane elbowing Gabriel not being a red?
Saka's incident, I think was actually a double-jeopardy foul in favor of Bayern. Firstly this wasn't just a coming together, by extending his leg towards Neuer and kicking him, (i know that this isn't the NBA) Saka commits a clear offensive foul. In addition to that he then dives and simulates a foul to win a pen. Saka deserved a booking for that.
I wouldn't give Bayern a pen either, although the law says otherwise. I have seen plenty situations like that on freekicks in the past where players would handle a ball to relocate/place it after the whistle have went. I think that it should be in the books to not give such fouls because they are instigated by lack of communication/comprehension between player and officials and not due to fair occurrences in actual competitive play.
Thank you. In all honesty, it comes down to common sense. The rules don't account for situations like this. Definitely not in an UCL match. The ball didn't disturb play, and Gabriel was supposed to shoot from the box. He must've thought the ref noticed .
He difference to most other times is that the ball was played and then stopped for "relocating". Sometimes you see the player moving the ball after the whistle, but before it got played. So its still clear what they are doing.
@@Bastorianus You have a valid point there I have to admit. But It is still subjective whether Gabriel heard the whistle or not. The incident was literally 1 second long, from the whistle blow to Gab handling, in addition he is seen actively speaking to Raya as the whistle goes.
Gabriel may also argue that the ball had went out for a goal kick on his side of the pitch and therefore the ball is traditionally restarted from there. He does not need to say he didn't hear the whistle.
Handling the ball directly after the whistle initiates play. Handling the ball is part of play, that's why it can be classified as prohibited.
I am sure by now you have realized that what you and I discuss here are just grey areas in the football laws but it still has common sense, refs have to use it in moments like these.
Don't get me wrong though, if Sane had blasting into the box for the press and Gab does that, I am freaking 1000% giving it!
OBJECTIVELY: Did Saka maneuver the ball away from Neuer? YES. Did Neuer stretch his leg? YES. Was there contact? YES. Was it inside the box? YES. Was it a goal scoring opportunity? YES. Was it a penalty? YES. Do you think 26 seconds is enough for VAR check? NO.
SUBJECTIVELY: At 30 miles/hr its NORMAL dragging your leg when you change direction. Also go look at the other angle of the incident as well.

@@87lenn clearly an outraged Arsenal fan here...I wouldn't feel happy/proud of my team if they were to win with such a pen.

It's funny how you call others stupid when you're brainwashed by ur emotions toward a football club, not even a girl mate, a flipping football club that dont even win a lot.
And I can't believe that PSG's rob against Barca, it's disgusting. Like seriously, how they would give Araujo a direct red in that play, I would give him just a single Yellow. And even 2 direct red cards for 2 persons from the bench just because of protesting, like what the hell. Cancelo didn't hit Dembele that hard to be a penalty, and the clear one for Barca was worse. Like, the ref is having a laugh there.

How did Bayern get robbed in the quarters and the semis💀
arsenals offense was nice that game, it was the back line let us down. Honestly, I think Saka could’ve actually scored that last chance if he went for goal rather than looked for a pen.
A childish mistake shouldn't take place in a UCL quarter final

Referee made the correct decision according to the rules as law 5 states that the referee can act outside the rulebook in the spirit of the game. Which is clearly what happened here
💯 no one would have been happy with such a penalty. The ref was superb. If Taylor were reffing that 5 penalties at least.

Personally the fact that this happened them and still couldn't win pisses me off even more
Bro is stuck in training💀
When it wasnt a penalty for Saka, it wasnt a penalty for Elliot either...
As an arsenal fan. As much as I thought the saka dive was a pen at first it now clearly isn’t so fair play on that. 😂. Robbed or not both sides played well and Bayern got beat by Madrid anyway so it was always gonna be a war. Fair play to both teams gunners did a good job that evening despite being knocked oit
Firstly the Saka situation was a penalty. Neuer outstretched his leg and if he didn't do that then Saka wouldn't have collided with him. You could tell Neuer thought it was a penalty and if the ref gave it then no one would be talking. Also he didn't give Saka a yellow for simulation because he knew Saka didn't dive, he thought it was just a collision. When you next play football I want you to run at your friend while he runs at you and try and get past him without jumping. Saka also attempted to stay on his feet. I'm going to explain what happened. Saka made a perfect run and Partey found the pass, he sees Neuer running out and in his head he's thinking "Okay I get around him and I've got an open net and if he catches me then I get a penalty", he then jumps out of the way but before he lands, Neuer stretches his leg out which he wasn't expecting and catches Saka. Saka made no intention of falling to the ground before contact like every attacker who dives, he didn't have his leg planted either and he didn't see Neuers leg. There are no signs of a dive, or the player wanted a penalty.
Now secondly in the rules it states referees should common sense. Gabriel didn't hear the whistle or had a miscommunication with the referee (because he usually takes Goal kicks), he didn't gain a sporting advantage and there wasn't malicious intent.
These Arsenal fans 💀💀
@@IltamZumraRashuptiIlatim that's not a response
I think that Saka was looking for contact and that the Gabriel grab of the ball was the right decision
It’s because the referee does not want Harry Kane to win a trophy
Yeah its a child mistakes. When they do it, you dont need to give it. When Pros do it, you need to give it. Like when else would you reinforce the rules otherwise? Pros should have learn as children not to do this mistake. Now as adults they need to be punished.
the whistle was blowed
That Gabriel mistake also happened during my Sunday league Match when my team's defender told our keeper that I will take the kick (goalkick) he touched the ball and it was awarded a penalty. Man look where Ucl is and Sunday league is..

It's not a penalty. Didn't alter the play in any way. 🤷
Their is actually a rule which shows Bayern shouldn't have had a pen.
And it's actually outrageous you think the Saka incident wasn't a pen, typical highlight watcher.
You won’t blame them, they’ve been away from UCL for too long, they forget what it seems like
referees this season r actually just horrible😢
Arsenal fans won't talk about this
Game rules for the referees show that the ref should use common sense in situations like this because bayern weren't even attacking at this point therefore it was the ref using his brain ( I'm a Liverpool fan)

Nah I was watching this tomfoolery live and I was so confused like what was bro doing
Neuer was also not moving so saka just ran into him.
I think that if every aspect of football was consistent and perfect then all debate would cease. OOPS!
Well they lost 2nd leg
Classic Bayern Fans 😂
THEY PLAY EVERY FUCKING GOAL KICK LIKE THAT
Now my quote is confirmed arsenal buys referees
Neither should have been penalties in my opinion. For me, only truly cynical challenges or errors should be given as penalties as it is essentially giving the opposition pretty much a goal. Even the Saliba penalty earlier in the game is questionable because even if Saliba made no contact, Ben White still would have gotten the ball and cleared it.
Gabby made a mistake. However Uefa Rule 18 tells the to apply" common sense" so as not to breach the spirit of the game. Bayern getting a penalty to score in a quarter final of this magnitude is not what the game is about. Besides not giving a penalty in the Saka incident levelled things.
Arsenal are playing basketball, even odegaard did it
The referee did not award the penalty for good reasons. Arsenal did not gain any advantage for the handball. Context is very important
