With a modest budget like you, I bought an English-cased 1960s gold plated dress watch as my birth-year watch on my 50th for a professional seller on Etsy. It has a classy Swiss Peseux 330 hand-winding movement, a big acrylic crystal and silky sunburst champagne dial, is only 7mm thick and keeps excellent time, -- couldn't be happier. Congratulations to the winner.

I’m 48 now. At 39 and a half, I went a full heart attack, and a very professional doctor (RIP) saved my life. It didn’t change me, yet I made many changes in my life. One of them was to abandon my career in private security-and become a therapist, hydro and sports. I introduced regular rigorous training to my life, and more than anything- I promised myself to do what ever is in my power to stay healthy and alive for my daughters, as long as fate will give me. The watch collection started soon after my dad passed, and watches were the only subject we didn’t fight and argued over- so I keep talking with him about my watches, and I keep buying more so I have more things to talk about with him…
I bought a 16600 Rolex SeaDweller ten years ago. I still have it. It is kind of a birth year watch. I was born many decades before 2002, so I understand your confusion. Imagine trying to find let alone buy a Rolex from around the middle of the 20th century of any model in good condition that hasn't been frankensteined to death. Such a Rolex would cost tens and tens maybe hundreds of thousands. However, the SeaDweller I have has serial number that contains my birth year. A happy coincidence.
