I used to have horrible period cramps, so bad that I literally couldn't move. Asked my teacher if I could go to the nurse and she said "all girls deal with it, you can too". I went to the nurse myself and she said the same thing. Had to go to the hospital after lmfao, it was that bad. She didn't even give me ice smh.

The only time the school Nurse sent someone home was when a kid came in with a knot on his head so big it made it square, and he looked like Frankenstein.
She legit said to his mom "Ma'am your son just came in with the worst case for this school yr alone, and you have to come get him"

the story around 14:40 reminded me of my grandpa who has one eye. he lost it cuz while camping someone accidentally shot him a an arrow and he said “4 cm deeper and I would’ve died”. this man has also been struck by lightning and didn’t notice till ppl ran over to ask if he was alright, he just went back to class. He’s also had 4 heart attacks and had broken his neck, I think he’s immortal

Reminds me of an uncle of mine...got struck by lightning while chopping a tree in the woods by himself, he was healthy enough to return home by foot. Had a motorcicle accident that made him fly for 32 meters (measured by the police officers who attended the accident) and his helmet broke in half but he only had a neck injury, broken ribs and a minor concussion. He also ate poisonous mushrooms that made his head swollen to almost double its normal size, a huge umbrella got picked up by wind from a restaurant and the metal bar holding it open ended up landing on his head and on top of all of this his dick got frozen once.

Broke almost every bone in his body. Finally, Covid got him 😢 he certainly had 9 lives like a Cat and made it to 83.

we had a guy come through the ER after a motor vehicle accident. so, he keeps complaining about pain in his knee. the radiology tech does the x-rays and the knee is unbroken, but bruised. he also grudgingly complained of a little neck pain. she looks at these x-rays and realizes that the guy's neck is BROKEN but his spinal cord swelled up and kept all the little pieces in place. she calls upstairs and probably saved the guy's life.

My mother fell down the stairs a few years back (mind you she has had 5 surgeries on her right shoulder and 2 on the left for rotator cuff injuries and fixings of botched rotor cuff surgeries, plus 3 neck surgeries and 3 back surgeries at this point and has hardware in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine AND she was around 60). She went to the E.R. and they did x-rays. Sent her home saying nothing was broken. Called her husband 2-3 hours later when a qualified individual finally looked at the x-rays and told him to bring her back ASAP because the fucking assholes sent her home with broken hardware (immediately next to her spinal cord!) and a cracked vertebrae to which said broken hardware was attached! She was quite lucky she'd not turned her head (not that she really has much movement to do so with the degree of hardware she has) wrong because it could've been lights out in an instant. 😳😳😳

@@lcoq19 that sounds awful. Sounds kinda like when my brother broke his shoulder so bad that that his shoulder was half way down his ribs and ER sent him home saying they would call him in a few days to schedule surgery. Next day he got a call from another doc that had looked at his x-rays and was told to come in immediately because his clavicle had slipped down behind his ribs and was close to puncturing his lung. Luckily he got surgery in time. I hope the same happened with your mom.

    • @lcoq19

@@starlightequestrian6729 they actually waited waaay longer than I feel like they should've and she was begrudgingly stuck back in a neck brace for a while but it was eventually "repaired". I put that in quotes because they actually removed some of the hardware and didn't replace it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ actually, she just had another surgery about 2 weeks ago. A tiny bone fragment from one of the numerous shoulder surgeries had torn a tendon in her bicep and the only doctor in the area for those particular issues will not repair that type of injury on anyone older than 50 for whatever reason (I assume it has to do with an older person's lessened ability to heal but I really feel like it should be determined on a patient-by-patient basis...but what do I know 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️) and he said he'd go in and just cut it the rest of the way. He said she'd experience a 1% strength loss but the pain would go away. So she, unhappily, agreed. She went in for surgery (his last patient of the day and he was ready to leave) and instead of doing the simple job he'd said he would, he decided, instead, to leave it (even though it's causing her discomfort/lessened ability to use it because of said discomfort) and claimed to have just "cleaned out some of the scar tissue from previous surgeries". We don't actually know that he removed anything at all. But she's raising a 2 year old at the moment (my nephew who was abandoned to social services by my brother and then adopted by one of our sisters and, despite have the means and ability to raise and care for him, she and her husband decided to pawn him off on our mother and won't let anyone else, for instance me, being I'm far more able-bodied and financially stable than our 64 year old mother and her equally physically disabled husband, take him) so she hasn't even slowed down or taken time to heal. It's all frustrating as hell. I'm glad your brother was treated before anything disastrous could happen! Some doctors are magnificent and helpful and others make you wonder why they ever became doctors to begin with.

She waited a day before she went to the doctor, another 3 day wait for the specialist, & by then it had started to heal wrong so they just said "hang on" & broke it again without even telling her what was going on. Massive bloodspray went everywhere as she screamed & she almost killed that doctor. Husband was told 5 seconds before & told to hold her down but didn't have time to warn her. my grandpa was a dairy farmer his whole life. so his pain scale is different than most. a 6/10 for him is really an 8/10. the one day he fell in the barn(i think he was 88) but was able to get up, so he didn't tell anyone. a few weeks later he had a routine gp appt. he says his leg has been bothering him, send him for x-rays. he goes back home.
Gets a phone call. his doc got yelled at by the ER doc for sending an 88 year old home with a broken hip.
It was just a hair line fracture that had already started to heal.

I could be on this list.
I arrived to the hospital in an ambulance after having been in a car accident (crashed my car on some rocks, no one else involved). Doctor came in and I had to explain that I was not, in fact, there because of an injury during the accident. Nope, I had actually been making donuts, forgot what happens when you mix hot oil and cold water, created a boiling oil volcano and had first/second degree chemical burns on my hand. In my pain-altered state of mind, I had decided I would drive myself to the hospital as no one else was around. About four blocks into my drive, I crashed my car.
I had minor head trauma after the accident (to this day I don’t actually remember crashing), and was sent home with bandages and creams for my hand. Not the dumbest thing I've ever done to get injured, but certainly the most memorable!

I am a warfarin patient, due to a genetic condition. I have a prosthetic valve and therefore the dosage for me, the numbers for me more rather are 2.5 to 3.5. Regardless, nine is really high, and the only way you’re bringing that down is vitamin K, the easiest way I’ve found do this is to give him a big huge thing of green tea, doesn’t matter if it’s sweetened or not, doesn’t matter where it comes from, but any source of vitamin K will get that down, however, it does take 2 to 3 days for anything to change.

I fell 30 ft into the water once. My whole body - inside and out - hurt for about a week. I refused to go to the hospital. When I got home after the ordeal, the first thing I did was sleep. It's free and it works.

Had what I thiught was a minor problem with my eye. Was going out to meet friends but since the opticians was next to the bus stop I thought I would get a quick check done. 20 minutes later I am on the way to Moorfields eye hospital with a referral for detached retina. Would have lost vision in that eye if I had not had that whim. on e spur of the moment.
Toldda lot of friends about it and a few years later one told me I had saved her sight because without having heard my tale she would have ignored the symptoms.

If they don’t have God handy, and not everyone does. Socks maybe the next best thing for her. For me, it would’ve been those cotton around to use for removing make up and swapping your face, but you may not have been in her bathroom when she did that, since that’s where I would keep those. Then again, I was prone to nosebleeds for a good period during high school, cotton swabs, cotton balls, that kind of thing is prevalent. It has to do what you have access to and will get the job done.

I still don’t want to know how.

Not a doctor but the patient. Got in a car crash, was basically fine no worries. Pretty tough dude with a pain threshold you wouldn’t believe. Few weeks later I still have this nasty bruise on my leg, cuz ya know it’s a bruise the size of my hand it ain’t gonna fade quick. Mom finally convinced me to go to the doctor which I thought was a waste. Turns out I have permanent nerve damage on my right calf. I mean... I can still move it I just can’t feel like a six inch stretch. No big deal. Didn’t notice because it was buried under a bruise. Three years later it hasn’t really improved much but whatever. Still find it kinda funny.
