I hate to sound like a broken record, but this song is so so good. Every time I hear it I hear more depth & subtlety. Just beautiful. As someone said earlier, my favorite version of my favorite Dylan song. Only a small handful of covers best the original of any song. This is one of them.

Yes Lucas, it is a song of beautiful sadness that I've carried with me for over half a century. Most recently I sang it A cappella at a reading of my book, "This Singin' Thing" and the effect on the audience was still magical after all these years. Even a pitch perfect opera singer belting to the rafters ring hollow if the singer is not connected to the meaning of the language. I don't know this musician yet but he sure sings the truth! I noticed Dave Von Rock in a number of the photos with Bob Dylan and his sweetheart. I saw Dave von Rock at the Van Dyke in Schnectady a couple of years before he died and actually got a chance to talk to him.
