I'm 58yrs young. Grew up with classic westerns. This is my #1western of all time. The cast unforgettable, the soundtrack even better. Bronson, Fonda, Robards, Cardinali, and too many more to mention. The storyline was the best ever in my opinion, from start to finish. I never get tired of watching it. Truly a remarkable film for generations to come. If you haven't watched it, please do yourself a favor and sit back and enjoy a true classic western ❤
I love this movie and the music. When my dad was alive we would watch this every time it came on. Now that he's gone I can still feel his presence when I watch it. I sure miss him.
The movie didnt need dialogue so much..the faces and music said it all. Cant get over how incredible this movie is. I feel chills, tears, sadness, laughter, heart-pain, ... and so much more emotion...the whole world needs to see this....someday...someday!
Nino Nardella You expressed my feelings perfectly about this Great Movie and Music score. There's nothing to compare it with . Even if your a western buff . This is more than a western . It has all those emotions to make it something special . As you say The whole world needs to see this someday .... someday ! Its as fresh to me now as when I first saw it 40 odd years ago .
I did n't like westerns much, but my friend urged me to come and see this one (roundabout the stoneage). I was stunned, overwhelmed, speechless for the rest of the night. No wonder he looked so happy then ;)

I remember NOT seeing this movie cause my mom thought I was to young to watch it. She put on this record and told me the whole story. My ears attached to her lips created a beautifull memory on an ordinary day. Even the film itself couldn't outperform that moment for me.........
A week after I saw this epic film, I could still hear water droplets hitting the brim of a man's hat. This is the magical place where cinema becomes art.
Dolce Vita,Only the Italians could gift us with a bittersweet western, despite all of its grit and grime.A beautiful movie filled with lovely music and just enough romance woven between cords of violence and inevitable death.Larger than life characters and a storyline that are unforgettable..🤔
Nino Nardella .You’re so right Nino. The music in this film has got to be the best ever to a movie. I’m not a great fan of modern films, so when I tell my mates that this is my all time favourite film , they just laugh. Bet if they watched it they’d know. It’s simply fantastic. 👍👍👍
It is 12:34am and for the first time in a very long time I sat down to watch this movie with my dad. He loves westerns and now that he knows how to navigate the different apps on the tv, all he does is watch westerns. What an emotional soundtrack. Pure quality. As I sit and watch the film I look at my dad doze on and off, I get a feeling of comfort knowing that he is still in my life.
Dear Lord, how I love this music, especially the chord resolution first heard at 1:06. This music is beyond words; his are the most sublime, beautiful compositions I've ever had the privilege to hear.
The first time I saw this film was around October 2013. Loving Hollywood westerns for most of my adult life, this film affected me in the deepest ways that other westerns did not or could not. Maybe "film" isn't the right word. I consider it more of an experience than just a film. I can't say that of many films I have seen, but this is one of those rare few. After watching this, it occurred to me that this film started as an idea in someone's head and then put on paper. All I can say is that the screenwriter must of had a fun time writing it. And we can't forget Sergio's artistic talent for making every shot a masterpiece. Also, Ennio Morricone's score cannot be emphasized enough. If I could speak Italian, and if Leone was still alive, I would address them with just one phrase: "Gentlemen, anyone striving for artistic expression in the medium of motion pictures stand on your shoulders."
I was born in 1970. I’d never liked westerns. I just didn’t see the appeal (except for Blazing Saddles of course). They normally bored me to death. One weekend in the middle of the night this movie came on AMC, and since there was nothing else to watch I gave it a shot. *My mind was BLOWN!* I’m still not a fan of the genre, but my appreciation for what Leone did and what a master filmmaker he was is indelible. And yes, this is among the greatest scores of all time.
Most westerns are over dramatized but some still tell a story, if you can figure it out. American western expansion was an amazing time in history and it is actually documented. Westerns that give a good portrayal are best. One comes to mind, "Free Range" I think it is called and also "Dances With Wolves". I'm sure there are many others.
@@MikeJones-rk1un Very far from that !! Only Tarentino recently, and the last two westerns of Clint ("Josey Wales" and "Unforgiven") come close !... The others are millions miles away !!...

Ladies and Gentlemen: This movie is the PEAK of Mount Everest in western movies. It stands head and shoulders above all others. I've seen them all. From the cheapest budget junk to the old greats like Shane and High Noon. I've been in love with westerns since a little kid in the fifties. There just isn't another like this one. MAGNIFICENT !!
What you have to understand about this movie is that... it's actually a modern opera. Then the pieces fall into place and you know why it's such a masterpiece.
My old man LOVED the Spaghetti westerns and would watch them all the time. I remember watching with him and loving every minute of it. Sometimes we would drop lines from the movies on the golf course, at a bar, Thanksgiving dinner, etc. So many GREAT memories. Anyone who shared this with their dad was a really lucky kid!
One of the best westerns of all história of cinema directed by One of the most famous directeurs, Sérgio Leone. Henry Fonda, Cláudia Cardinale and Charles Bronson are magnificent in this production.
I don't recall Morricone ever writing anything but Excellent film music. This has to be one of his most outstanding and best scores. Thanks for to upload. Out.
I hope to play with at my Grandad's funeral, it's such a beautiful track and his love for western wont be forgotten. We're burying him with his Cowboy hat on his grave. It's hard to type because of how sad it is but I love you Granddad, even if sometimes you didn't know it.
When I first saw it as a child when it debuted in Italy the scene where Fonda shot the child was imprinted in my mind forever. There are so many scenes throughout that will never leave you, and they are seared in your soul by the incomparable music score by Morricone. The music score synced with Fonda and Cardinale evoke so many powerful images in my life - what a soul Morricone mush have had, to reach where noone could have dreamed...
Also some of the best lines in cinema: "You bought two too many", " I saw three dusters. Inside the dusters were three men. Inside the men were three bullets", and "They call them millions". And in a film with so few lines!!
I love that line about the millions especially because when Harmonica and Cheyenne first meet they have that exchange about how he can at least count to two, and then he says he can count to six (showing the revolver). So it makes it actually really funny how he doesn't know millions.
I remember watching this as a young teen and being knocked out by Sergio Leone's mastery of it all. I was hooked right from the very first scene....that train station, those characters, the heat, that sky.
Morricone is a master. John Williams is the composer of my childhood and the Superman theme will always have a special place but Morricone may very well be the best film composer ever.
@@omarrodriguez-pm1uz Indeed, E.M.'s music and musical legacy will live on forever! This heavenly and angelical music probably already resonates in the After-life, for quite some time!👋
This is so beautiful. The first score. It's like. It takes you somewhere you've never been before. A magical place. It's sad and it's sweet. So beautiful. With a glimpse of heaven. And I never get tired of the experience. I go back every time I hear it. All the scores are magic in their own way. Just listen. Each tells a story. As the movie plays on. And the movie 🎥. Yeah. That movie. It's a one of a kind masterpiece.
Grazie Mille Per La Musica - Ennio Morricone ! The intension was to make the music up front to all of Sergio Leone's westerns, but to Once Upon A Time In The West they finally made it. They didn't do sound live recording on the set so the music was played during filming. The result is just fantastic. I hope the two maestros now have a great time together beyond.
One of the most beautiful movie themes I have ever heard! from my favourite western too! Ennio Morricone will always be remembered for his wonderful music!
Best film, best soundtrack, best acting, best script, a masterpiece by a genius director and a maestro of music, love it to bits, just wish Ennio hadn't cancelled his concert when he had his back operation when I had a ticket for it 😢
George Carini ... I love it too and my late father ... I played that track on a boombox on my father funeral viewing at the mortuary coz' he loves western movies 🍺🍺🍺
George Carini when I saw that movie Once Upon a Time in the West I was only 10 years old every since I couldn't stop watching it when I turn the 11 I went I went and bought it so every time on my birthday I want you
George Carini if your father passed away please accept my apologies for asking I also lost my mom we were about to celebrate one of my brother's daughter's birthday when she passed away on that date on her birthday
My dear dad loved it too. He's sadly gone now. He always said to me what a great film it is. Wish I could've seen it with him abd share the emotions of this beautiful haunting music. Love you dad
Where the hell have I been I accidently found this film on sky the music stunned me it is the most beautiful soundtrack I have ever heard I cannot stop listening to it!!!!
Im sure we can all relate to the passing of time. Frequency is tied directly to the memories we all make. Every time I think of all those loves Ive ever had. Three Women Ill never forget thanks to smell and sound.
The opening theme brings tears to my eyes. I can´t even pinpoint if it triggers a memory, really, I dont think it does. It just hits me in that perfect spot and disarms me. Amazing composition.
what is it, the violins, the theme? i could be anywhere, waiting room at doctors say, and unabashedly tear up and sniffle away( i'm 6ft tall lumberjack, big gnarly hands, often as unshaven as jack elam). gets right into me, so ever, ever grateful to the art of music)
I grew up listening to James Brown, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino....that ere. This is, in my mind, the best soundtrack of all time. I can't tell you how many times I've watched the movie. Sometimes great things come thru your life that makes an emotional statement.
I watched this movie for the very first time on my first HD TV in 2007. I was amazed by the cast, music, scenery and overall vibe of the film. And Mrs. Cardinale....wow.
Anyone out there like me? Can you see the movie again in your mind just by listening to this soundtrack? Incredible!! Maybe i've just listened too much..... No, that's just not possible!!!!!!
Adding this comment because scrolling through previous ones I haven't seen it said yet. The main characters in this spaghetti Western all have their own unique theme songs. What's more incredible is the way those songs interact and blend throughout the film score. When the characters come onto the screen their song plays and when they meet their songs intertwine.
This song makes everybody feel different about the soundtrack to the movie once upon a Time in the West but for some it brings back memories it makes you feel like a kid again
Great soundtrack. Really beautiful music. Ennio Morricone was a great composer, orchestrator and conductor. Thank you playing this & making it available. Good job.
Every time I hear this music, I get the chills and am immediately thrust right back into the movie. It is so hauntingly beautiful. I can't help but think, "Who creates such things? How did Morricone get such inspiration? Just wow."
Morricone's soundtrack is easily Top 5 all-time. Just incredible. It's crazy though that Morton's theme didn't make the soundtrack, only the expanded version . Used twice in the film, it is so perfect, so hauntingly beautiful.
What a beautiful example of motion picture music! Not hidden in the use of 'unusual' instruments in this score, Mr. Morricone writes extraordinarily for strings.
of course i'll add a comment. Morricone made a score for each of the four main characters, so, without visuals you'd know by the music played which character the scene(s) played out to. Cheyenne's was fast and haunting, striking, near ominous . Harmonica's slower, deliberate, whimsical-like, yet a certain note, instrument made it utterly suspenseful. how long before we would lose patience with close-ups of cowboy mugs that last into minutes nowadays. MOLTO BELLIFICOSO(i'm not from Italia, forgive any wrong spelling
Hollywood is now very busy with the politics and telling us how to think and vote . Last thing they are thinking of making in even less than average movies .
Just saw this movie yesterday on amazon prime, definitely one of my top 5 favorite movies. I told my cousins about it then all of a sudden, it was on tv. It was so great i had to watch it again. First film i watched twice in a 24 hour period in a long ass time. Definitely 10 out of 10 for me
Listening in remembrance. There's never going to another quite like him, a true legend. RIP Ennio Morricone. Thank you for all the timeless masterpieces such as this.
Love this movie - one of the truly great westerns. Part of that is because it is about so much more than the surface plot - and it's brilliantly done at all levels. This music is so much a part of it. I find that no matter how many times I watch it, I just become very emotional when Jill McBain goes out in the end with the water for the workmen and they all come and surround her. She's just so...decent about it all (and I'm sure at least one of them did pat her behind...). As Cheyenne had said, I'm sure the workers were in heaven.
When I watch once upon a time in West in Netflix - Right after finish I just look or search in RUclips for Background music of once upon a time in West # I just feel sad happy and mind fresh relax after hearing this Beautiful creation of music
the most beautiful music ever made. The melody makes me feel bittersweetness so strong after the harmonica ends and the woman starts singing, he killed his brothers murderer but he still lost his brother. . it is so powerful. eerie solitude after avenging the tortuous murder.
Undoubtedly one of the best soundtrack of great Ennio Morricone followed by The Misson,Hateful Eight,Five Man Army,The good the bad n the ugly n For a few Dollars More.Every track were gem n cut above but this is something special.
For sure one of the greatest of all time. I agree with the other guy, there is some good ones here and there. IMHO it's about the story, resources, and the compassionate people to flesh it all out. There is more crap, being shoveled around than a overcrowded stockyard these days on both the silver screen and on steams like Netflix. Got a choice of thousand's of moves and TV shows and I can only stomach a small percentage of them. Got to go back to the classics where they actually have a story and aren't under some seeming pressure to make everything a shallow thrill a monument rollercoaster ride..
I could listen to Album all night. It’s a classic peace of music. I bought this online only a few months ago. Loved it ever since. R.I.P. Ennio Morricone. I wished I’d seen you live in concert. ❤️
Hands down ...best music of any movie. The sweeping panoramic views of windy, dusty high-desert western town life are great, but the music takes it to another plane. Amazing.
This is the ultimate movie score in cinema history, I believe if I were BLIND! I bet I could Imagine the scene what is it about; by this great MUSIC .. Thank you Ennio Morricone 🌟

In a tragic coincidence, I saw this movie on tv the same night I found out a friend of mine had been killed in a botched store robbery. I always connected the two events from that night on, but the absolute beauty of the music always seemed appropriate. It takes my breath away.
God bless Morricone, beautiful score for a brilliant movie. The films intensity grips and the music wraps around it so well. This movie and score must rank as one of, if not the best ever for it’s genre.

So sad to hear of Morricone's passing, I think his music in this film was unsurpassed. RIP Ennio!
But in heaven he still playing the soundtrack to Once Upon a Time in the West the entire world is going to miss Ennio morricone
👍🤙👍🤙 God bless ennio morricone like your comment
One of the most beautiful movie themes I have ever heard! from my favourite western too! Ennio Morricone will always be remembered for his wonderful music!
world, best acting, story, soundtrack, visuals... best movie of all time.
Best film, best soundtrack, best acting, best script, a masterpiece by a genius director and a maestro of music, love it to bits, just wish Ennio hadn't cancelled his concert when he had his back operation when I had a ticket for it 😢
Le meilleur wrstern avec le bon la brute est le truand 2 chef d oeuvre pour toujours
@Brian Spary , I’d like to add to your comments but you have totally summed up my views with yours .
This music is really spectacular and always reminds me of my late Father who truly loved One Upon a Time in the West's music.
Me too
George Carini ...
Where the hell have I been I accidently found this film on sky the music stunned me it is the most beautiful soundtrack I have ever heard I cannot stop listening to it!!!!
feel blessed. ;)
That's okay. Don't be too hard on yourself. :) You now have seen and heard it. That's what's important.
50 years later and IMHO this is the GREATEST soundtrack ever made. Ennio Morricone is a serious genius.
AGREED!
My ex wife and I loved to listen to this, I miss this part of my life.
Wow that's incredible how much people are touch by the soundtrack
My husband died in July and this was our favorite film and music . I miss my hubby every min
Stephanie Hall 🙏
Im sure we can all relate to the passing of time. Frequency is tied directly to the memories we all make. Every time I think of all those loves Ive ever had. Three Women Ill never forget thanks to smell and sound.
It is good sleeping music
RIP Ennio. Thanks for giving us a soundtrack for every season of life
That's very nice but even in heaven he will still be playing this song
Best Director, Best Script, Best Soundtracks, Best Actors ❤️
I just can't seem to get enough of this music. The best sound track I've heard in a long while
I met Claudia Cardinale when I was in college. Great actress, great person.
It's a masterpiece of music and especially movie best performance
also , her role in " THE PRODFFEONALS "- her love and determination to see husbands dream of progress for all
I watched this movie for the very first time on my first HD TV in 2007. I was amazed by the cast, music, scenery and overall vibe of the film. And Mrs. Cardinale....wow.
That's Ms. Cardinale
The best ever. Goosebumps on my skin and tears in my eyes. Every time again. What a astonishing beauty
Good job.
A masterpiece! No other way to describe this score!
Every time I hear this music, I get the chills and am immediately thrust right back into the movie. It is so hauntingly beautiful. I can't help but think, "Who creates such things? How did Morricone get such inspiration? Just wow."
I have been listening to this a lot since the maestro passed away. Thank u for posting
Grazie Maestro.
Ennio Morricone e Sergio Leone ETERNI !!!
Morricone's soundtrack is easily Top 5 all-time. Just incredible. It's crazy though that Morton's theme didn't make the soundtrack, only the expanded version
. Used twice in the film, it is so perfect, so hauntingly beautiful.
First time I heard this was on high school, and I knew it then just like I know it now; this is beyond words. An irresistable piece of art.
It's so brilliant soundtrack simply the Best Western plus best actors ever
Fantastic film with an extraordinary soundtrack, Hollywood-learn a lesson from this timeless gem. Start making films again that people enjoy watching.
jon wilob i
Hollywood is now very busy with the politics and telling us how to think and vote . Last thing they are thinking of making in even less than average movies .
Yes. Everything now seems to be Marvel Comic knock-offs. Incredibly bad.
🤙👍🤘💯✌️🎉
This film and Sergio's techniques are now standard in film schools.
I fondly remember seeing this GREAT movie for the first time with my father. Miss ya Dad...
It is an amazing soundtrack to the movie once upon a Time in the West
There are no words for this song,it's so beautiful.
Thank you Mister Morricone for so many timeless classics.
Just saw this movie yesterday on amazon prime, definitely one of my top 5 favorite movies. I told my cousins about it then all of a sudden, it was on tv. It was so great i had to watch it again. First film i watched twice in a 24 hour period in a long ass time. Definitely 10 out of 10 for me
I first saw this movie and fell for it at the age of 12 and saw it with my mother priceless moments
the cinematography combined with the score were just at master level
Its ok to cry, Ennio taught man.
One of THE most haunting melodies ever written.
Yes it's the best soundtrack there's never gonna be music by Ennio morricone un the world
There's no going to be something like this ever again
I remembered seeing this Great Masterpiece for the first time in 1973 with my Dad...
Listening in remembrance. There's never going to another quite like him, a true legend. RIP Ennio Morricone. Thank you for all the timeless masterpieces such as this.
That's so true there is never going to be someone like Ennio morricone but we can enjoy his music
My husband introduced me to the music love it and the film can't thank him enough
When I watch once upon a time in West in Netflix - Right after finish I just look or search in RUclips for Background music of once upon a time in West # I just feel sad happy and mind fresh relax after hearing this Beautiful creation of music
Rest in peace, great man. His music has made me smile and cry tears of joy, i love this soundtrack... Respect from Ireland.
the most beautiful music ever made. The melody makes me feel bittersweetness so strong after the harmonica ends and the woman starts singing, he killed his brothers murderer but he still lost his brother. . it is so powerful. eerie solitude after avenging the tortuous murder.
I have watched orchestras play this score....how can they not shed a tear as they play...this stuff is amazing.
It's something about the soundtrack that gives brain freeze when you listen to the soundtrack and you watch the movie
Undoubtedly one of the best soundtrack of great Ennio Morricone followed by The Misson,Hateful Eight,Five Man Army,The good the bad n the ugly n For a few Dollars More.Every track were gem n cut above but this is something special.
Beautiful Music! Breathtaking!!
You can only imagine listen to the soundtrack best ever
The best of soundtracks ! One of the best composers of all time .
AMEN. AMEN. AMEN !!!
I weep for the state of contemporary american cinema. Thankfully we still have world cinema
I disagree, there are many good movies being made, not block busters though.
✌️💯🤘👍🤙wow that's incredible how much people love listen to the soundtrack
YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR--WORLD CINEMA IS SUPERIOR TO AMERICAN CINEMA!
Rest In Piece... To the greatest film composer of all time, I'm glad I was here while you were. 🍷
Bar none one of the finest ear-gasms ever created! Rest well Ennio Morricone.
Perhaps the most beautiful composition int he last 100 years!
EVERY YEAR, the score is in the top ten of sold globally- cuz it sucks an no one likes it???
Absolutely beautiful score. Tears!!!
The most wonderful music I've ever heard. I've loved it for year's. Morricone was a genius.
Listen to this at least once every week, greatest sound track ever.
Very nice comment
Still listen to it every week, never get fed up with it, it's just an amazing piece of music.
Best cinema music and scenery perfect synchronized!
"They" do not make movies like this any more ............ simply genius, gifted, blessed, etc.etc.
The films intensity grips and the music wraps around it
so well. This movie and score must rank as one of, if not
the best ever for it’s genre.
there will never be sound like this in the whole world, it's a generation gone forever, please record it all well in the cupboards
The soundtrack of Requim for a Dream getting real close here!
