That is so friggin' blue that it's not even blue anymore! It's superduper triple extra blue! That's why Muddy is the most bluest man in this whole Chicago town.
Just now I have started to read Robert Gordon's book (2002)about Muddy. It's published this year in Hungarian too, I like it very much!!!! All day I lisen to Muddy's CDs during my reading..... fantastic expeiences!!!!!! He is so good.....!!!!!!!
Blues is just perfect, but many people doesn't see the pain in it. But you can hear it in this guitar-solo. All the slides, and all the long notes. It says it all.
Love these guys!! Miss Muddy like crazy! What a contribution he made to music. Feeling much disdain for any who are so pitiful as to feel a need to belittle these fine musicians. All I can say is what is the truth..music critics are people who WISH they could be a musician or tried and have utterly failed. If that shoe fits you must wear it.
He really did a great job and he reminds me of my dad when he was living he used to play this song to death and when you can sing and a song like this just like the radio version you have mad skill and muddy was jus that man. He could sing a song to death.
recentlyI played the piano with Muddy Waters' son, the singer Mud Morganfield, and this great song by Willie Dixon is his favourite from his dad's repertoire.
Beautiful ! I wished time stopped back in the 60s - 70s ! It was JUST RIGHT back then hey !!!! And we all thought the 21st Century was gonna be better hey !! ha ha
me and chris leblanc opened for buddy guy in mobile and in baton rouge this last week and yes he plays some fast numbers but he layed down some slow blues that put chills on all of me,and his entertaining quality was 2nd to none, when he played with muddy waters, of coarse he had to play slow, that was muddys great talent was to deliver slow blues, but remember blues as all music evolves a little as time goes, its all good
@panthercap Hi. Sorry it has taken me more days than it should have to listen to the Louisiana Red version and thank you. I thought it was excellent and would like to really say thanks for taking the time to suggest it.
I see Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones playing bass. Who were some of the other musicians accompanying Mudddy at this early '70s Montreux Jazz Festival?
the whole world fightn bout that, that same thang......... What makes YOU FEEL SO GOOoood!, When YOurrrr BABY GET HERRrrr, EVENING GOwnnnwnwn.... WHAT MAKes YOU FEEL SOoo GOOood When YOURRrrr BABY GET HERRrrr EVENING GOWNnn..... MUst BE THE same OLE thannng that made a preacher lay his, his bible down...... What Makes you FEEL SOOoo GOOood When yourrr Baby get herrr evening GOWNnwnn.... WHAT MAkes YOU FEEL SOoo GOOod when yourrr baby get herrr evening gownwnwn...... MUST BE The SAME OLE THANG
It's rare to see Buddy or Junior Wells play so smooth and cool. Usually Junior is trying to run the show and completely tanked on Gin. Guess not in the presence of Muddy!
i don't think buddy ever played in muddys band, he did a delta blues album with him for chess records when folk blues was big, and they played a lot together at festivals but they never toured together, but junior wells did tour with the muddy band after little walter and muddy had a fight. although buddy was a side man playing for chess for pretty much any one you can think of. if you could cheak out my blues stuff that would be great. i am a 14 year old blues guitarist. please chaek it out
Say Rolling Stones, say The Yardbirds, say Cream, say Mike Bloomfield, say Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, say Eric Clapton, say Allman Brothers, say Lynnard Skynard , say, well you could keep talking all night!
Thats weird, I see what you mean on one shot around 1:30. You can't see the face but the expression of deep thought is exactly the same. Its probably a little more than pure coincidence.
What makes you feel so good when your baby get her evening gown. What makes you feel so good when your baby get her evening gown. Must be the same thang that made a preacher lay his, his bible down
Man... What a great recording. Love Muddy & Buddy!!! ❤️🙌🙌🙌❤️

Muddy, Muddy, Muddy forever Muddy, awesome !!!!

I love Muddy. He always put the Harmonica heavy up front. Serious business.
He really did a great job and he reminds me of my dad when he was living he used to play this song to death and when you can sing and a song like this just like the radio version you have mad skill and muddy was jus that man. He could sing a song to death.
Amazing harp. I felt it to my BONES! Miss you, Junior.
it certainly does not get better than this. it's just legendary stuff.
This is a gem. They're all cool, Junior Wells, especially.
If there is any hope for the younger generation to know what music is good for the soul,,they will keep this music alive.
Just fantastic blues groove! Thanks for it!
recentlyI played the piano with Muddy Waters' son, the singer Mud Morganfield, and this great song by Willie Dixon is his favourite from his dad's repertoire.

Fantastic, so cool, what a line-up!
God these guys give me the chills.. great playing
I agree!! It is sad. If you listen to his old stuff it often realy is slower but it has a much more bluesy feel to it.
the harp is amazing!!
this guy is simply marvelous.
This is sublime. You see where Jimi got some of his stuff. God bless these musicians.

The clothes may not be timeless, but the music sure is.
OMG this is just unbeliveble!!!! The rythm is just killing!! Does anyone know what key the harp is in?

I see Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones playing bass. Who were some of the other musicians accompanying Mudddy at this early '70s Montreux Jazz Festival?
Wellllllssss😍
Buddy played in Muddy's band a few times.
@smallinson you could try looking for a version by Louisiana Red from about 1971 or so. Also very nice.
my opinion: Muddy is the king of blues.
wow music at its best
Buddy Guy was in the band (he plays the solo after Junior's) but he did not play the slide guitar ...
still don't know anybody can choke an F better than jr could. Thats some killer haunting fucking harp man sends chills down my spine.
BUDDY GUY! You should check him out in case you really don`t know him.

@vatonaught Naw, I think it is Terry Taylor.
Of course - that's Junior Wells - amazing - what control! This musta been a looong time ago. Preacher nusta laid his Bible down a lot since then.
Only Buddy Guy caught the ending. Good ears/eyes, Buddy.

Mike Jeager on the bass , not to mention.( seriously, Montreux Jazz Festival, if i'm not too trunk).
Dallas Taylor... I wondered whatever happened to him after CSN&Y...
Bring Back The "Leisure Suit"!!!!!
...its that SAME THANG
The BIG voice!!!!!!
harmonica, or in blues genre it is called a 'blues harp'.
Buddy Guy is sick on this
@cliefclinton main guitarist is Buddy Guy, in the tan suit
It's rare to see Buddy or Junior Wells play so smooth and cool. Usually Junior is trying to run the show and completely tanked on Gin. Guess not in the presence of Muddy!
very true...i think its cuz they lived round the same area in chicago
i don't think buddy ever played in muddys band, he did a delta blues album with him for chess records when folk blues was big, and they played a lot together at festivals but they never toured together, but junior wells did tour with the muddy band after little walter and muddy had a fight. although buddy was a side man playing for chess for pretty much any one you can think of. if you could cheak out my blues stuff that would be great. i am a 14 year old blues guitarist. please chaek it out
10 pessoas são surdas!
This was Muddy's band...Wells and Guy were members...they weren't collaberating...they were working a gig....lol
Say Rolling Stones, say The Yardbirds, say Cream, say Mike Bloomfield, say Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, say Eric Clapton, say Allman Brothers, say Lynnard Skynard , say, well you could keep talking all night!
Muddy should be required to play his slide on this tune
Can someone please tell me that instrument's name that sounds like a sax almost... i forgot
Yep...that's a fact.
@BlackAndBluez AMEN
i agree. youtube and evan myspace have exploded with grate ralex of music. yuo tube had the vidoes. myspace has the tracks.
Is that Mick Taylor playing slide?
Hendrix and clapton both routinely wrapped up shows early in chicago so they could go see Buddy"s last set.
Unmistakably Buddy, but he looks like a young Hendrix here xD
Hi everyone,
are there other videos from the same show?
Thanks!
Sergei
@vatonaught Looks like Mick though
Who can tell me what key they are playing in? please post.
OOH La La
Thats weird, I see what you mean on one shot around 1:30. You can't see the face but the expression of deep thought is exactly the same. Its probably a little more than pure coincidence.
is that bill wyman on base?
who is the guitarist ?
What makes you feel so good when your baby get her evening gown. What makes you feel so good when your baby get her evening gown. Must be the same thang that made a preacher lay his, his bible down
@cliefclinton Buddy Guy
