Sweden officially joins NATO, ending decades of neutrality as fears of Russian aggression mount

- Sweden on Thursday formally joined NATO as the 32nd member of the transatlantic military alliance, ending decades of post-World War II neutrality as concerns about Russian aggression in Europe have spiked following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Secretary of State Antony Blinken presided at a ceremony in which Sweden’s “instrument of accession” to the alliance was officially deposited at the State Department.
“Good things come to those who wait,” Blinken said.

In 1938-39, the ministers of the Nordic countries had met several times and reached an alliance that, as the Swedes expressed, "the North is an area not worth for a foreign power to hunt in," but when the Soviet Union attacked Finland, Sweden immediately declared itself neutral.

The Congress, both sides of the aisle, supported Swedish NATO membership. In the unlikely event that Chump wins in November he will not be able to pull the US out of NATO without Congressional approval, if that’s what you mean.

No one trusted Russia 20 yrs ago with Putin as their KGB President who ended all of the progressive measures that Gorbachev had adopted to put Russia on a more democratic path. And certainly he's trusted even less now, and completely cut-off from trade with the Free World. NATO exists because of Russia! So you're probably also on board with Fat Donnie Drumpf now, who is trying to do the same with America and beccome a Dictator who never gives up power and deals in nothing but propaganda and his own personal enrichness. NATO has never been stronger, or more of a concern for Putin. And that is despite Maga Mussolini's (aka Putin's Labdradoodle) attempts past and future to pull the US out of NATO. That would be the worst thing that could happen for the country who became the premier Superpower and leader of the Free World because of the creation of NATO. Our Security depends on it!

The alliance will remain. Even in the unlikely event that Chump wins in November, he will only be there 4 years (unless he passes away of old age earlier). Congress also made sure that he cannot pull the US out of nato without congressional support. A large bipartisan majority in Congress supported Swedish membership.
