I just sold my very first item on Ebay after watching this video!!! I am super excited as I purchased my item for $2.49 and sold it for $23.49!!! Now I have to hurry and find tape and a box, and most importantly a thank you card for my first customer!!!
I get all my padded envelopes and boxes from my daughter and friends. If you know someone that shops Amazon or Walmart on line have them save the envelopes and boxes for you. I peel the shipping label off, which can be a pain sometimes but it works. Zero cost for shipping supplies. ✌️
I always use recycled shipping stuff! Industrial areas are great to find that kind of stuff in their trash bins! And department stores/strip malls. It's silly to buy shipping stuff when it's literally everywhere!!
I found a RUclips video on making a photo light box for under $10 with items from a dollar store. You just need a few pieces of that foam board stuff, white duct tape, and a plastic table cloth to diffuse the light. You make the box out of white pieces, then you can get different colored card stock / poster board to clip to it if you want to have different color backgrounds (though I've been doing everything on white). I use 2 desk lamps that I got from Goodwill for maybe $6 total? So a whole setup to photo my non-clothing items for under $20. Easy peasy.
I bought 2 sets of professional quality of photography lights for $20. Bought a roll of peel and stick wallpaper for $10 at a garage sale, put it on a cardboard backdrop from hobby lobby= instant background. Neat thing about being a thrifter is that you seldom need to pay full price for any of your supplies or personal items. 😊
The "clear" plastic totes work well. They aren't totally clear, but kind of foggy. This helps to diffuse the light. You can then make various colored inserts from poster board, cover cardboard with fabric or wrapping paper, or spray Paint, then switch them out as desired.
Funny that I'm putting out a video later today with some ebay tips too. Lol. Great info! I hate it when I get home and find the condition of items not as good as at the thrift. It's like what happened on the drive home?! Haha happens to all of us.
So I'm not the only one that little debil messes with? I bought a pair of Nike shoes at a yard sale for $5.00. I was ecstatic on the way home. I started cleaning them up and found a hole the size of a quarter in the front of the shoes. Five bucks down the drain. You can't return anything to most yard sale hosts. No returns.
I’m in upstate SC. Spartanburg County. I do this part time. I love the videos. Very informative. I checked into the antique mall idea that you guys have going on. I could not get into one here. I did find a local gift shop that allows vendors to place their items in for $50 a month. No % of sales. I just got in there last week. So I’m hoping that this will turn into something good. Thanks for the idea. Keep up the good work.
Julian this is a great, informative and concise!! Keep up the great work. We are changing the way we do things because of you two. You young whipper snappers teaching the old farts from Idaho. Love you guys!!
To add to your scale info, get a scale with a remote display. I started out with a scale that had display built in and it was difficult to read the weight if i had a large box. It's ridiculous how much retail shipping costs are compared to eBay or Pirate Ship. I recently had to ship a large box that weighed 28lbs (not eBay related) 2-Day Mail to TN. UPS wanted over $400 in store. I used Pirate Ship and it only cost me $92. It makes no sense as to why they charge so much in store.
@@Timetraveler1111MNdepends on what company you use to ship the package, if you ship with USPS you can take it right to the post office, if you use UPS or FEDEX you can take it to one of their stores or you can look up online a drop off location near you that takes UPS and FEDEX packages.
Our biggest mistake when we were newbies was to buy bags and bags of clothes from GW bins and take them home, wash all of it, and throw it in a HUGE death pile. Secondly, buying everything we THINK will sell instead of checking the sell through rate. I quit selling electronics due to too many issues with returns/scams.
Had ring light and all and didn't think it made much difference will say the photo room custom backdrops are also very cool i still to this day use dollar tree black boards maybe be 2 for 1$ or even 1$ each but always liked the black backgrounds bc Ebay likes white backgrounds. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Have 2 ring lights for sale i never use either of them just use what you like and great video for sure whatever works for you do!!! Anything else well all up to the individual seller. Some ppl swear by ringlights some ppl swear by photo room some ppl swear by white backgrounds whatever helps you sell items is what you should use. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Thank you explaining these things. I'm still learning. I've been reselling full time for over a year. I learn so much from you both and other seasoned sellers.
Pirate Ship and printing your own labels saves you so much! YES YES YES on listings and item descriptions. It amazes me how many time I "Sell one like this" and then I look at their listed descriptions and yeah, your better proof that!!!!
All great advice! I spent 24 years using just a regular printer. My hubby got a thermal for $15 on a garage sale - essentially new because she couldn’t figure it out. Initial Setup was a pain but it works great!
7:52 Agreed! I saw a reselling video claiming you can earn $700 an hour. Yea, they bought $700 worth of stuff. But that don't mean they'll all sell in an hour. Plus, not counting the listing time, taxes, and expenses required to get it from A to B.
I watch and enjoy most of your videos, but this is by far the best one you've ever done, in my opinion. Keep up the good work and thank you for all your content.
Great point on the "sell similar" issue! I used that some. One time, the item I used it on was in poor condition, and I didn't notice that and didn't change the listing. Thankfully, someone looked more at my pictures and messaged me to ask what about it was in poor condition. It wasn't until then that I realized what had happened, and then I had to go back and correct 4 or 5 items to make sure then condition was accurate to what I was actually selling.
Ty so much for this … I always enjoy watching you and ur wife and getting tips on reselling . right now I’m a full-time store manager, and I want to get out of the corporate companies and build myself into a full-time reseller and have time for my family again ..
5:50 oh yeah, three times in the last month. I had to look all over the place one was a giant marble rolling pin that was on a stand, and I kept saying it was upstairs by the kitchen, and it was on the table, but we could not find it. My husband got his dowsing rods out to try to find it. True story. We need to stop the sleuthing detective 🕵️♀️
Very realistic tips. I am a part-time reseller and made a pretty nice chunk of change last year. Definitely track your expenses and profit (learning this NOW), inventory tracking (learned that the hard way). I just use my printer and tape it on, get packing stuff and boxes from friends, ABB and JP, had a box but decided just to use a light and foam board and definitely Photoroom!
Hi so glad I stumbled across this video! Shipping tips so helpful. I do sometimes get boxes from stores and the are flimsy. Did not know anything about list of things you are not supposed to list. Overall this was so helpful and I watched twice. Thank You!!!
Im getting ready to be a reseller on Ebay and this is the first video I watched from you, and I have to say I learned a lot, thank you, including where to purchase boxes and poly bags at a better price. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video friend. I consider myself still “new” to online reselling and there’s a lot more to learn about how to do this well vs having a physical thrift store or yardsale which is how I’ve always sold. I’ve been doing this about a year, now diving in full time this year & my mother in law wants to do it as well. So this list will help me in remembering what all to teach her. Thx hope y’all are having a great January
I appreciate your link, logic and words on Jiaro, but after taking a quick look I find Amazon to be 1/2 the price for what I need. When you’re starting out, you need to save every dime. Boxes, I find that if you have a Grainger Supply, pick up your order and it’s the cheapest boxes without reusing them.
I live in UK and shipping is a bit less complicated here as is a small country. But I also used a normal printer at the beginning, cut out and selotaped labels to parcels. I bought thermo printer of temu(works fine, I just wouldn't use that website again). I still work full time and ebay is my side bit for selling mostly my stuff, and I have loads. I collect boxes from work but had to buy postage bags and small cardboard boxes. And always reuse packaing I have, I even use egg boxes-they're great to fill up the space. And yes, check the items. I did that mistake so many time not seeing sth obvious like broken ear on a figurine...
Thank you for the video! It's always great to hear advice on how to resell and experiences in doing so. I once tried selling a cigar box (no cigars inside) but it was made in Cuba. That was taken down because you apparently can't sell anything made in Cuba in the U.S. sadly. I had two of them, one ended up selling before they could find it I supposed but they got the other one. I had no idea so I didn't repost it. I do e-bay part time since I work from home for a W-2 paying job but plan to build up my inventory as much as possible in 2024.
After selling for 25 years on Ebay I’ve decided to cross list to Mercari that doesn’t charge seller any fees none, in the first 2 days at Mercari sold 4 things with zero fees.
Thank you 😊 I learn from you and your wife a lot I appreciate you both! Happy New Year’s May you have a prosperous and happy & healthy one blessings 🦋😊💕
I resell very part time. I bought a Rollo because I need to save all the time I can, since I do this in my very limited spare time. But I bought a used one on Ebay for less than $100. It was definitely worth it, saves lots of time versus printing, cutting and taping 8½x11 paper. But I waited to spend the money until I was sure I was making enough on reselling to pay for the investment!
I just subbed here,,!! I am liking your channel brother. I am going through some health issues and need to leave my job. I am making a decision to sell on E-Bay to make money. I have done it before a little bit years ago and did ok. Aside from a few scams where I lost money.. Hahaha But I am feeling better about it all now. I really appreciate your posts here. They are helpful and have made me decide to try this new chapter in my life. I look forward to seeing more from you. Good Luck and thanks again..!! :)
can you bulk print shipping labels on pirate ship? I sometimes have to ship out 20-30 orders and doing that one by one is a pain. I’d like to switch to pirate ship to get that cash back but eBay makes it much easier for me with bulk label printing
Could you guys take us through the process of boxing/shipping. My husband and I have been part time resellers for almost two years. We take all of our packages to the post office. The measuring and weighing intimidates us. We recycle boxes but try to use poly bags as much as possible. We figure the price of the shipping by guesstimation (LOL). If we go over it digs into our profit which is on us.

I'm in my 3rd yr...you dead on...also medical devices...wick once said buy this iceman thing for muscles or something..I found one for 15 dollars and got veroed on ebay....I didn't research I just took his word for it...yeah shoes are bad also...might look good but sole tear or just to dirty to clean...I made like 2k last year here near Asheville nc...don't go to goodwill in my town of marion nc...this manager trains her staff well...I go once a month...I went about everyday...they look up everything that hits the floor...
Honestly, if you do not already have a printer i would reccomend just buying a label printer. I tried going to the local library to print all my shipping labels for a year and it added so much stress. The rollo was worh it
yes - we are an llc filing as s corp - so that is all handled by our bookkeeper and tax person. we keep track of everything give it to them and they handle the rest
I've tried ebay and easy both,I finally just gave up and felt like a failure. Ebay sold items that were not even close to what I had listed ,they did keep good communication but even then I asked them to please notify me beforehand so I could approve the sale. Easy did the same thing. I don't have a scale or printer at home but I got a lot of boxes from the post office that have gone to waste for sure and I have a ton of big price items to sale. I just felt embarrassed
I got an Amazon thermo printer and I had a package lost so went to send out the next package next day and I noticed the print was almost gone just overnight. Which I figure is why first package went missing it wasn’t readable after 2 days. This has really turned me off of thermal printers have you ever had this issue
I really enjoy these help videos. Just started reselling about a year ago. What is the thermal printer brand you mentioned? Is there a link to it? Thanks!
Bro I've been watching the unit vids for a while now just discovered this channel. I've been popped for brand new airpods too! Im like wth they are not fake -_- I dont get that, then you see listings for them all the time.... Dont make sense.
I'm so over people bragging about sales! I still learn every day but new sellers need to be careful not to do the compare game. Learn and edit with your gut
Boast like a viking: I think people should boast as much as they want yeah go for it. I love hearing people finding some thing like $5 and selling it for $1000. I share others listings on Poshmark , somebody might be looking for something else and it’s just a good infinity. Good karma. I think it’s fun and exciting diamond 💎 you are on a reseller youtube that talks about sales, I’m not sure what area you were talking about the context.
People need to realize that it’s not everybody’s goal to make money. Folks have valuable stuff they don’t want or use anymore, they need to reduce their junk, and eBay provides better chance that the right buyer will find the item they are selling so the seller can get rid of it. Same thing with posting content on YT, not everyone is trying to make money doing it, some post videos to genuinely try to help and educate others, and to share experiences. Most people on YT and most sellers of used items on eBay have their primary job for making money, selling and sharing is just fun for some of us, we don’t really care about how much something might sell for.
I get all my boxes from work for free I work at coca cola and there is a endless supply of boxes from the raw materials store and the PPE store not to brag lol Great informative video bud keep it up 👍

YAY! Pirate Ship! That's what I use
Good info on this. Thanks.
Oh informational, great 🎉
Thank you so much for the tips.
Excellent video 🙏
Honestly, if you do not already have a printer i would reccomend just buying a label printer. I tried going to the local library to print all my shipping labels for a year and it added so much stress. The rollo was worh it
Links for the boxes you buy ? And what bubble wrap do you recommend?
13 things - that ain’t bad!
Great info!!! Thank you
Are you keeping track of your mileage for business expenses.
And if you use a room or garage do you count a business rent expense?
yes - we are an llc filing as s corp - so that is all handled by our bookkeeper and tax person. we keep track of everything give it to them and they handle the rest
Good info! Thanks!!
Excellent points!😊
I so needed this! I have a coach purse complete with receipt. Do I ask that price I paid for it or less?
Awesome Information!
I got an Amazon thermo printer and I had a package lost so went to send out the next package next day and I noticed the print was almost gone just overnight. Which I figure is why first package went missing it wasn’t readable after 2 days. This has really turned me off of thermal printers have you ever had this issue
How specific do you go when looking up sell through? Example color, size, condition?
Thank you for the content. Question, is there a way to save on shipping without a computer, printer, and scale. Godbless
I really enjoy these help videos. Just started reselling about a year ago. What is the thermal printer brand you mentioned? Is there a link to it? Thanks!
Thank you for this information
“We’re going to go over 13 items that we made as rookie resellers “ lol that’s a good one.
Great info
What do you mean don't go to the post office? How else are you going to get the package to the buyer?
can i ask on average what u make a year doing this? great vid
Can you put eBay shipping on credit card too by using PayPal and choosing pay with credit card?
An don't get excited when you see the price on Google lense.
If I have an item and I can't find it anywhere for sale or sold how do I come up with a price?
Would it make sense to offer free shipping and increase the item price that amount?
I get all my boxes from work for free I work at coca cola and there is a endless supply of boxes from the raw materials store and the PPE store not to brag lol
Great informative video bud keep it up 👍
Me watching this video...yep, did that...yep, did that....yep, did that...and so on🤣
Hahahha me too !! So funny it was like the exact same stuff I've been doing for 2 months since opening a store 😅
I take scrap cardboard from work and make all of my boxes.
I dont spend anything on boxes.
First one here. See you on the next one.
could not find Chick Filla on the Vero list - what did they complain about ?
My biggest mistake so far was not knowing sell through rates
