This just might be the best demo I've seen of the Korg Minilogue. It's very refreshing to hear sounds made by a good sound designer who knows what he's doing.
I sold my 501 years ago! Always regretted it! And my Binson Echorec! Both were mint! That was a great demo man! You truly have a gift! Your musical ideas and your understanding of technology are second to none! Beautiful sounds! Very Poly Six in places! Another regret! I took it to a music store to get it serviced and while it was there the shop went bankrupt and the receivers were called in and I couldn’t get it back! Loved the Poly Six! Anyone who hasn’t tried this, take the top off the Poly Six and turn the lights down, press a few keys! Looks like Chicago on a Saturday night! Anyway, thanks for a great demo!
Inspiring work on the sound design! SO happy that I have a minilogue and impressed by its capabilities that I am learning. I just subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to hearing more of your work!
Harlem Nightman..hi from abroad .. you have always played my instruments (juno106~ esx1 (wooo kicking patterns on esx) ~tx81z or so. )) and i think since a few months i need this one or the other one: Minilogue 0R Microfreak. Make good music still_enjoy. _bye
There is so much Roland SRE-555 i'm hearing on my studio headphones. That's gotta be a major part of the sound. Especially since that unit is.... legendary in the effects world.
this reminds me alot of my old Korg DS8 ,, always thought the DS8 was underared , didnt get the credit it deserved at the time ,, think this Korg is going to be its best seller since Microkorg
the synth programming of this guy is superb. i wonder what he could do with a monster modular wall? the eurorack people with 10k$ systems that sound like car alarms, should take note.
If you like the sounds of the MS 20, it might be worth your while to check out the Microkorg! I know it's an older synth, but it uses the same engine as the MS2000, which was a digital successor in the MS series of synths. It isn't analog, and it isn't as cool as the minilogue, but I got mine for $125 CAD, so they are quite easy to find second hand for cheap, and they can get some nice softer tones, and amazing lead sounds too! If you prefer harsher analog tones, the minilogue is probably the one to go for, but the Microkorg does a fair job too! (just don't buy it new, you can do much better then that!)
I bought mine new and I love it still have to dig into the software editor to make my own patches it's a really great sounding lil synth,I love the spuds that you can come up with from it.
You do a vocal formant-like effect between 1:22 and 1:57 that I've heard on a couple of Minilogue videos but can't figure out how to recreate on my Minilogue at all. Sounds like a voice pronouncing yie yie yie as it trails off. Any general tips on how I can program that type of vowel like sound would be much appreciated. :)
I was leaning towards the MicroKorg as first synth... now I'm leaning towards the Minilogue, although I'm sure it's not easy to make it sound like this...
ok thx ok a monopoly korg its far away from times...i know its sound but dont see what you mean ...monopoly ha its own charakter but minilouge is great i have now 2 pieces...left and right hand:-)) and my girlfriend have to wait..smile
Thanks for this video! I have the Minilogue but I got disappointed and frustrated with it, thinking of selling it. Now your video makes me see it's a good synth after all, I just need to take time! However, I'm only a beginner with synth (I'm a pianist) but I also have the Minibrute and it seems to me that the Minilogue's oscillator and filter sound less good. What do you think? Also, question: how do you get those high-pitched notes in the first and second-last patches??
Yeah you have to fatten the Minilogue up. The synth is very tinny in my opinion. I run it through an analogue wah pedal and it really fattens the sound up
Is it possible to chain two of them together and have 8 voices? Or will you have to mirror each knob movement on both synth? Btw great sounds man! Seriously
Kevin Nel This synth is pretty deep. it's why you see such a massive variance on what people are doing with it. if you watch the Marc Doty videos you'll see how crazy you can get with just all the stuff you can do before you hit the filter. That's where a lot of the sound design comes from.
definiely. im looking into this as a first synth, since ive been using stock logic presets for a year now ive realised theres something softsynths just cant get right.
Kevin Nel I think this is an excellent first synth. Lots of knobs, two oscillators, an oscilloscope that works so you can see what you're doing to the waveform, and a good amount of routing. With some work you can also get more advanced sounds. no second LFO? no worries just motion record a manual modulation with the knob and save it with your program. Very deep if you think outside the box.
LexanderStudio Korg doesn't make the Gaia, Roland does. Thumbs down for that. And no. I don't think the Gaia could touch this. It's pretty versatile but nothing like he Minilogue. I had a Gaia and sold it quickly. Also, this is a true analogue synth, not digital like the Gaia.
An affordable analog right now is the Korg Arp odyssey re-issue. I got mine around xmas and it is really cool and fun to learn about subtractive synthesis. This minilogue is sweet I'd like to get one of these too!
I have a Gaia, you should of spent more time with yours instead of selling it so quickly. The Gaia is a beast it's only limits is how good the user is at figuring it out. The Minilogue is a cheap analog you can squeeze some good sounds out of it but you won't be hitting Dave Smith levels or even knocking on Elektrons door. The time I spent with the Minilogue I thought it was cool, nifty good for the type of sounds you hear here but not so unique you couldn't get it anywhere else. There's nothing about the minilogue that makes its sound distinct or sought after. Like if you hear it you're like Woa that's a Minilogue I know that sound. Not knocking the synth it's good for a budget entry level to analog but you know what so is the DeepMind 6 & 12 and those are beast beyond this thing What I like about this is basically the build quality and the wave window.
minilouge is very good....ew fresh modern power sounds and the price for 4 voices is great 480 euros by thomann... hypersynth is alo good ,,very,,modern...thx for you good example....a polyevolver sounds diffrent but also unique..just keep in peace..f....
This just might be the best demo I've seen of the Korg Minilogue. It's very refreshing to hear sounds made by a good sound designer who knows what he's doing.
Thanks Vimana!
The first patch is amazing. You can get that sound from the minilogue, wow...
This synth is amazing ! So glad I bought one! This is my Moog! Staying with me forever! Best synth I've heard in years!
Thanks for playing Gary Numan❤️
Pleasure 😊
second that!
Garys my reason for buying my 1st Moog back in 81.
Glad to say i finally met him in person at a VIP ticket event in 2015.
I was in awe.
I sold my 501 years ago! Always regretted it! And my Binson Echorec! Both were mint! That was a great demo man! You truly have a gift! Excellent, can't wait for mine to arrive.
Dang! You own that baby. Respect and thanks for showing what's possible.
wow love this beginning!!!
Jonathan Ossovicki yeah I'd love to know the song
My Mine - Hypnotic Tango ruclips.net/video/gHvA0QFDoVY/видео.html
As others said, great demo, wonderful sounds, sound design, and music, and probaby the best demo of the Minilogue I've heard. Very nice.
I've seriously watched about 80-100 demo video's on this thing, and this short little demo smoked em' all!
WOW, seems like a lot of Fun. Cool Demo, Thanks.
Thanks, yes it is!
4:50 and 5:55 are out of this world. Amazing demo, I can't imagine a better showing of what it could do.
great. only makes me want one more..
Sounds good. Has quite a late 70s/early 80s vibe coming through with the right programming! Hmm. Wasn't gonna get this but I may have to give in...
Thanks! It's a gr8 fun synth, I like the noisy delay too, gives that old cassette tape vibe a bit
you should probably get a job as a korg demo specialist.
Inspiring work on the sound design! SO happy that I have a minilogue and impressed by its capabilities that I am learning. I just subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to hearing more of your work!
do you wanna share these pads?
excellent playing, great chops (ditto your knob moves) - an entertaining listen.
Thank you!!
Good Sounddesign! THX!
Great programming 😊
Awesome sound
Best demo.
great patches and tunes man!
Holy crap that first sound is incredible
Bradley Hove
I really want to know what song that is.
Awesome demo 👍
Harlem Nightman..hi from abroad .. you have always played my instruments (juno106~ esx1 (wooo kicking patterns on esx) ~tx81z or so. )) and i think since a few months i need this one or the other one:
Minilogue 0R Microfreak.

Gary Numan is my musical hero.
Holy shit! The scond part! You know what you arw doing!!
There is so much Roland SRE-555 i'm hearing on my studio headphones. That's gotta be a major part of the sound. Especially since that unit is.... legendary in the effects world.
Hi, I kept the SRE555 in the rigut channel. The later mono sounds are just the ML, thanks
Very Nice!
So much beef from a tiny board!
I'm in love
It shall be mine!!!!
die Auferstehung dankeee
Very nice !
Thanks!!
WHAT WAS THAT PATCH AT 1:10??? It blew my mind.
Thanks, just an attempt at that Prophet 5 - like brass sound
2:54
Reminds of the "Hearts of Space"programs I listen to.
hey care to share the patches? or sell them? i would gladly pay for them, the last one is beautiful
I may someday.. But it's really fun to make your own
this reminds me alot of my old Korg DS8 ,, always thought the DS8 was underared , didnt get the credit it deserved at the time ,, think this Korg is going to be its best seller since Microkorg
Korg DS-8 is an FM synth. Minilogue is a subtractive synth (though it does have limited FM)
Amazing
Thanks!!
the synth programming of this guy is superb. i wonder what he could do with a monster modular wall? the eurorack people with 10k$ systems that sound like car alarms, should take note.
Well, I'm buying one.
These are tweaked versions but
0:00 Hypnotic Tango by My Mine
0:42 Are Friends Electric by Gary Numan (my hero) :)
It is Hypnotic Tango! Think that was done on a Polysix so it would make sense, with a bit of ensemble
I need your patch man
I'm interested in the MS20 and this, I like the sound of the MS 20 better but this is so easy to use. Thanks for the great demo.
Pulse2AM the big difference is that MS20 is mono, it only plays one note at a time. This does 4.
Okay, thanks!
If you like the sounds of the MS 20, it might be worth your while to check out the Microkorg! I know it's an older synth, but it uses the same engine as the MS2000, which was a digital successor in the MS series of synths.

Thanks for the reply. I had a MS2000 for awhile, didn't do it for me.
I bought mine new and I love it still have to dig into the software editor to make my own patches it's a really great sounding lil synth,I love the spuds that you can come up with from it.
Jexus?
I miss him so much.
RIP O7
Seriously ? Thirsty Rivers was released on Bandcamp 2011 so I can`t imagine. His channel is dead but i hope he`s okay.
You do a vocal formant-like effect between 1:22 and 1:57 that I've heard on a couple of Minilogue videos but can't figure out how to recreate on my Minilogue at all. I was leaning towards the MicroKorg as first synth... now I'm leaning towards the Minilogue, although I'm sure it's not easy to make it sound like this...
@Alma Still mulling it over :p
I'm sort of more into an audio interface and a tenor sax now. But yes.... synths
The son of jexus. good job
this might be a stupid question. but what is a patch? im french so i dont really know what it means
Patch = preset. A sound stored in the synth's memory
Matthew Strange thanx man.
New wave ..italo dance classics ...funk ..all the best music of the 80 ..great playing
This isn’t straight out of the minilogue, it sounds like you are running out to stereo and reverb chains?
can u transpose the sequences ?
Patch notes?
minilouge is good but no polyevolver....a nice realy good modern synth ..thx for you work
mono tom The Minilogue reminds me a lot of the mono/poly without the issues. I love mine.
Also it's spelled *really*
ok thx ok a monopoly korg its far away from times...i know its sound but dont see what you mean ...monopoly ha its own charakter but minilouge is great i have now 2 pieces...left and right hand:-)) and my girlfriend have to wait..smile
The patch at 3:57 is really interesting! Would you mind explaining whats going on with that one?
I aimed for a sound like IOU / Freeez, the cross mod can give those vowel-like sounds
Can you transpose sequences on the keyboard??
No you can't
Thanks for this video! I have the Minilogue but I got disappointed and frustrated with it, thinking of selling it. Now your video makes me see it's a good synth after all, I just need to take time!

how did you do the vintage vhs effect of the video ?
Does the sequencer send midi ?
What was the piece at the end?
A little piece I made many years ago called 'Pet Symphony', I will rerecord it!
(0:45) Gary Newman
Can it accept velocity from external midi
Kevin Nel it has velocity(has a switch to turn it on and off) built into the keyboard it comes with so I'd say yes.
thats awesome i heard somewhere that it didnt have velocity so this is great news
Kevin Nel This synth is pretty deep. it's why you see such a massive variance on what people are doing with it. if you watch the Marc Doty videos you'll see how crazy you can get with just all the stuff you can do before you hit the filter. That's where a lot of the sound design comes from.

do you find the little slider thing annoying or have you adjusted to it?
John L what??? You can map it to multiple parameters. What's not to like?
Especially after 5:05 it blows my mind.
Am I the only person who read the title as Kylie Minogue?
Yes
hypersynth is better also modern only 1 voice now paraphonic ...sounds nearly minilouge but better....also modulation is good
just like any synth that costs twice as much as another
sorry is commercial so ist why we people are so..you hear nothing only past f... best tom
thin
your bass its not bad not angry nothing no feelng
5notes? nahhh
s i give to 303 and you are blown away............
Is it possible to generate these sounds on Korg Gaia? Or real analog synth has really more abilities than something which only simulates analog synth?
It doesn't have more abilities but it does sounds a lot better for analog style sounds. It's not a simulation, it's the real thing.
