Seriously! Both democrats and republics are neoliberals in every sense of the matter. The only difference is that by and large (though there are some exceptions), that democrats largely don't subscribe to a warmongering, jingoistic neoconservative foreign policy view. Which as you might expect largely results in wanting to spend money on public good and infrastructure rather than just more military hardware that isn't people (to be fair, both sides don't want to pay up for the VH to fix all the vets they've busted up that are still hanging around)

@@andresanguianozuniga6798It's hard to figure out how to be just and coherent when reality itself is neither of those things. How about we give ourselves some credit for making it this far? We will get farther, of course, but it is important that we remember how far we've come and take joy in our continued momentum. Otherwise we risk forgetting why we march on, and might in the heat of our frustration and despair come to embrace the inherently unjust madness of nature once more.

m a trans teen and seeing Terry from The Dragon Prince made me feel seen. I've loved The Dragon Prince since I was 10, and I learned I was trans at age 12. Terry was confirmed to be trans when I was 13, and I saw him in me. Even if he is helping the main antagonist, he's a genuine and amazing character.
But the show isn't about LGBT people. It has great representation, but the story is so amazing and I would be sad to see it restricted to 18+ simply because there's a trans character and a lesbian wedding. There's really nothing inappropriate about it (Other than stuff like violence)
This is just one example of a show that would be restricted in those states. There are so many great shows that are kid friendly and have LGBT characters. Kids deserve good shows, too!
(Btw The Dragon Prince is on Netflix and is by the same creator of Avatar the Last Airbender)

just wanna say the maori people did get some representation in star wars, and i’d argue some excellent rep because not only did temuera morrison - a maori man - portray jango fett, he’s also portrayed every life-action clone (in person or with voice over/face cgi) AND he’s canonically boba fett now too. not saying it isn’t important to have more, but it is awesome that the biggest franchise in the world made such a big deal out of a maori man !!
The Maori have actually gotten quite a bit more success in entertainment than other ethnic groups roughly their size in the past two decades. And that's a good thing, I just wouldn't put them on the same level Aboriginals or The Kukalu.
In my country (NZ) I'm a centrist but in the US I'd be call a leftist. I think it's fair what you're saying about current centrists in the current US political landscape, but also don't lash out at the concept of centrism in general just because your domestic politics are currently absolute cancer.
I would believe they're centrist if they made it apply absolutely equally to anything heterosexual. I'd also believe they're nuts, but centrist.

Centrist ideology is just the least extreme continuum on the spectrum of Conservative ideology. It's still Conservative ideology at the end of the day and as such, people who have a Centrist ideology will find it easier to agree with other continuums of Conservative ideology, up to and including Fascistic ideology if it sounds respectable.

Most of the people around here dont care about ppl being lgbt and will just accept it without question yet somehow its still a red state? I genuinely cant figure out why or how. Ive done a lot of travel around the state as an open queer person. Its insane how disconnected the gov is from real life in red states. I genuinely believe the people of the state would turn against them if they attempted to cede
But hopefully it just wont get to that point and ppl will come to their senses.

There's a term for those who want neutrality with fascists. That term is "appeaser".
Fence sitters like to think they are above it all, but the first thing hitting ground when push comes to shove is the fence.
I would consider myself a politically left centrist to a degree, but only because I see how things can go bad real quick provided extremists of either side take control. That being said, the Kansas law is nothing but incredibly thinly veiled theocracy trying to shield children from the real world because it disagrees with their narrow theology.

As far as what I think, I do mostly agree with people on the left, even the far left in a lot of regards. However, I also understand why people on the right understand things the way they do, even though I disagree with most of their general conclusions as a group. I still see those basic human concerns they have and the simple, self centered survival instinct that everyone has, I just also see that they have let their instinctual side overtake their logical side in this modern world. From what I've seen, you need a balance of both the instinct and the intellect of humans to really create a world that's worth us building upon

The 1922-1928 era of the Free State of Prussia is the perfect example of social democracy being in full swing in Germany.

What's funny is when I was younger, I identified as in the middle of the Political spectrum. But then I saw the right doing and saying insane and cruel things, and I really analyzed what I believed in. I realized I was actually on the left. Because of propaganda, I suppose I was fed, I thought the left was Insane, so I thought I was different from them. But I started watching certain RUclipsrs, and I agreed with them. Then they said they were on the left, and the illusion, I believed, was shattered. My opinions didn't drastically change I just didn't realize they were the opinions of the left because I viewed people on any side as irrational because that's what I felt like I was told. I know better now. But I wonder if there are more people like young me who don't actually realize they are on the left (or right unfortunately) because of the "I'm in the center out of the conflict because I'm rational" mentality. or if I'm just an odd case as a leftist who thought they weren't one.
I used to think I was centrist in High School because that was during peak antiSJW youtube but then I realized I had no right wing opinions and was just scared to be called an SJW by identifying with the left. People who think a “centrist” is just someone who doesn’t have strong opinions is so dumb.
A centrist just means you arent attached to either ideological side. They might be very pro life but then very pro trans also.
You can have both of those views and still be attached to one ideological side. Personally, I am very anti-drug and anti-alcohol along with being in favor of significantly expanding gun ownership despite being overall progressive and a solid Democrat for as long as I have been interested in politics. Personally, the most reasonable kind of centrists I have met tend to be those who believe that we need to find ways of compromising and forming consensus between major political factions to make sustainable progress as a democratic society without dissolving into constant unproductive fighting. However, other centrists I have met seem to think centrism refers to simply not having strong opinions.
It doesn't make sense to use this against centrism considering she hasn't commented on why she passed the bill. It's most likely a compromise, which you seem to also think considering you implied multiple times that she's compromising. The nature of a compromise is that each side makes concessions. If she was centrist on this issue, it wouldn't be a compromise because she wouldn't be conceding anything since she'd agree with it. That's not "playing the centrist", that's literally just a democrat conceding one thing to gain something else more important.

I looked it up after making this comment and it wasn't even a compromise. She let it pass because it already had a 2/3 vote from each house, so her veto would've been overridden anyway. She disagrees with the bill as she says: “While well-meaning in its efforts to protect children from content the legislature considers ‘harmful to minors,’ this bill is vague in its application and may end up infringing on constitutional rights, which is an issue being litigated in other jurisdictions over similar bills. Xanderhal actually lives this principal through his actions, and while I respect that, I cant understand why anyone would follow his political prescriptions.
Sure, in leftist spaces you're treated ok if you toe the line. But on every issue, youre either with them or against them, and as soon as you step too far out of line, everyone will betray you and smear you as the worst person ever.

As someone who has relatively conservative views on a few issues, I have been part of a democratic club for years and when they found out, no one had a problem with it because I wasn't bigoted nor was I doing anything to mess with them. I recommend meeting left-wing/progressive groups in real life rather than online.
