Imagine being so upset with in-car notification sounds that rather than addressing the systems which make the noise and turning the sounds off (a can bus packet capture would do it), that you replace the whole in-car music system with your own 😂 I’m sure Paul(?) will delete this, but yeah, know that we know.
Are you new here? The factory stereo is shit, so obviously it makes sense to put a real system in. Who's this "we know" that you speak of? Come and tell me about it in person at the next annual meet up :)
There is a point of diminishing returns in that you already have a 12 speaker system in a near sealed box with an air volume smaller than that of an average bathroom. So you tell me if it's worth replacing it and the value return on that... what, $5000 (?) aftermarket system? But we're getting distracted. You'd be lying if you were to say that the reason behind your speaker replacements is audio quality. That amp is already a DAC - isn't that why you're connecting speakers to the high output from the amp? why wouldn't you connect it directly to the android box? so the point on quality is and that the 'stereo is shit' is moot. and I don't like confrontation - I'd rather watch and learn from the mistakes of others.
I have one of these cars and am an audio enthusiast and will tell you factory sound system is ok but not amazing. I have found thatthe factory amplifer cannot drive both the bass to the woofers and the subwoofer at higher volumes. It ends up clipping the signal to both which can damages speakers and sounds awful. This is also whjy when you put the volume past 25 each iteration adds very little to the volume. Its capping out the power as its running 12 speakers and cant deliver. You can try this for yourself by setting the subwoofer to 0 and turn up the bass on speakers and you hear how much better the power delivery is. The smart solution i am planning is to simply offload the sub woofer amplification to a dedicated mono amplifier using a high level input. I agree replacing the whole unit which also drives a lot of other stuff on the car is crazy. the speakers appear quite good quality and if you powered them better (imight also look at 4 channel for bass drivers) then i think the overall effect would substantially improve. I do not want to compromise the boot or inside of my car by putting boxed subwoofers. the other issue is the audio damping is amazing and screws you up. so the subwoofer noise cant escape the boot very well so you dont hear it much in the cabin.
@@timcollier264 At the moment, I have the factory sub removed, and the bass in the door speakers isn't terrible. It's still weak overall though. I'll be powering them from an Audison amp soon enough. I'll then know how much kick I can get out of them.
Love it! I recently installed an Alpine Ilx507a with 4x 2 way component Rockford fosgate 6.5" p165 punch speakers and a little underseat powered 160W sub in my 3 cylinder 2014 Mitsubishi mirage ES LA. No amp for the speakers, just using the Alpine head unit with a brake bypass. I put deadening in the doors as well to improve the sound. It's not earth shatteringly loud, but bloody hell it's an upgrade from stock and still makes your ears ring if you let it. I'm considering adding in a second sub. I'm a fan of the wireless Android Auto too. But i cheated with all the harness with aerpro iso kits for the steering wheel controls and reusing the stock front speaker wiring. I had to run new wiring for the rear, sub, sub power, scratch some paint off the body floor for a ground, etc. and I had a ready to go 2 din facia kit. i imagine your Byd seal setup is full custom everything, love a full build vid but know that's near impossible to do. Looks like your control is remote. Have you completely bypassed the stock system?
It seems like there could be space to fit an inverter while you've got everything open. It could prove useful to you in that one situation where you need a 240v power source on the go.
Had Llewellyn Hyundai booval, tell me my new head unit caused the horn to not work (wouldn't beep) - Head unit was a JVC DAB+ radio, first one available in Australia. Installed with a harness adaptor. The factory head unit was DOA. - The horn was just faulty, said stuff it, went to the wreckers and swapped it - Also had to take in for a new engine mount @50'000km they tried to get me to pay for it. Told them f no, that's warranty, went through Hyundai directly to get it sorted.

While it's stripped down Paul you might as well install a Flux Capacitor 😉
Just let me emphasize my gratitude for your IPTV tutorials

Yep. I've got a million clips to put together, and it's nowhere near finished yet. This was just a tease.

Mate... it comes with a V2L adaptor with 2 sockets that provides 10amps at 240v :)
@@TallPaulTech Very good to know. Thanks for the info Paul!

How do you find your byd after driving a tesla ? Besides the stereo , is everything else to your liking ?
You have certainly been busy. Nice work!!
I've been doing a lot of soldering today... and wrapping cables.
Is there going to be some sort of switch in place to go back to "byd" audio if required?
@@simmosideways I have its audio going into the Alpine as one of the selectable sound sources
@@TallPaulTech Nice idea
What's the unit you installed?
Man, aussies are so resourceful...I aspire to be like you one day
While you’ve got the car in pieces, how easy is it to disconnect the pedestrian warning speaker?
Mine doesn't have one.
So no AVAS system in Australian BYD Seals?
What’s the track playing? Shazam says it’s got nothing 😭
Hahahaha... that's because it's me playing the instruments, and I haven't published it anywhere
And does it sound better?
A drowning cat would sound better than the factory stereo
Your warranty has been voided. 😂
Ya think
This is tiktok worthy! you'll be a trend for sure! Love it!
BYD Seal was much better than I expected, sure it's no Tesla but if you're in a budget it's a good deal for you buck.
Too much base, That music would sound better out of the computer case speaker from 20 years ago.
