It was one of the anthems of my young days. Let me explain that Pola Raksa referred to in the song was an actress of rare beauty and a big star in Poland in the 60s.
2:30 - "Luksemburg" by a old popular radio model.
Dziękuję i serdecznie pozdrawiam.♥️🍀
Thank you 😊 am glad
One of the best polish song
Remember that songs created in Poland during communism carried a certain message for citizens and some political content had to be smuggled in before the caesura in the lyrics of the songs.
Perfect IS Perfect !😄
Very old song ,but still alive. Brings lot of memories.

There is a very interesting story associated with this song - thanks to the fact that the next day after the premiere, this song was in the 1st place on the Polish Radio Program 3 Hits Chart, the authors of this song were not arrested by the military raid that suppressed the changes on December 13, 1981. democratic in Poland. The authorities did not want to provoke society into street protests in defense of the musicians.
Moreover, I recommend such artists as Martyna Jakubowicz, Wojciech Waglewski, Marek Piekarczyk, and the ARMIA band.
Thanks will check it out
It is very difficult to understand this song without knowing the realities of the time in which it was written and the climate that existed at that time. It was a different Poland and this song describes it
Thanks for watching ☺

This translate is good, but in former self this song is even more moving.
Ta piosenka, to klasyka. Tekst, to mistrzostwo, dla Polaków... Obawiam się, że nie zrozumiesz.
zrozumie !!! ....to życie..
Obawiam się, nawet polscy "młodzi" nie do końca wiedzą o co chodzi. Pomijając fakt, że to dobra piosenka muzycznie.
The song isn’t about his loved one. It’s about him growing up and life in general in communist Poland. The song is very emotional for Polish people who grew up under the communist regime.
The first verse, he’s referring to Elvis Presley. The girl, is just a girl he hooked up with hence “I got what I wanted”. When she said there could be troubles, he ignored it by saying he has a school exam. She killed herself.
He also mentions a wind of change and crimes forgiven- that’s directed to the communist government. If people went against the regime, they’d be punished by imprisonment and even beaten.
Here’s a better translation:
“I was ten years old
When the world heard of him
In my basement was our club
A buddy of mine brought a radio
Then I heard “Blue Suede Shoes”
And I couldn’t sleep that night
The wind of change was blowing,
Rest of the punishments were forgiven
You could laugh again.
The buzz of cafes
Was invaded by jazz like tornado
So I wanted to play too...
My father, God knows where,
Was setting open hearth furnaces,
A nail came off my finger.
I turned the neck of my guitar to sawdust,
I played millions of silly songs,
And found out what sex was about.
The sound postcard craze,
Everyone had hundreds of those,
Insted of a new pair of jeans
And on Saturday nights,
There was radio Luxemburg, free house and booze,
Life was good!
There was three of us
Each of different blood
But united with one goal in mind
In a few years,
To have the world at our feet
To own everything.
A gulp of cheap wine,
And dicussions till the morning
Impatient were our souls,
One got smacked in the face,
Another would cry,
Things happened.
She was the reason of our quarrel
Had a face of Pola Raksa
That everyone would die for.
One summer night
I took a blanket out to the roof
And I got what I wanted.
She told me there might be problems
I told her I had an exam coming.
She turned the gas knobs on
Nobody came to knock in time,
I was alone again, like a dog.
Hundreds of various parts to play
That would quench my pain
Life has taught me.
Lying flat in bed
I wasted my time
The best time of my life.
For cheap cheers in bars
The klezmer made me play,
Things that I'm still ashamed of.
Listen to me!
I have defeated myself,
Finally my dream has come true,
Crowds of thousands
Drink words from my lips,
They love me.
A fan in a hotel
Says: "I've got that on tape,
The moment they start to sing!"
I open the door
And speak no more
To four walls...”

Okk
@Jessie - The translation you see in that video is horrible, and in some places plain wrong.
that song was written under communism and has special meaning , people knew what singer means and censor did not that they can play that song
You misunderstood the part about the woman. There is nothing romantic in this part, it's tragic. What he said is that he and his friends were rivals to be with this pretty girl, he accomplished it ("and I got what I wanted" - had sex with her), then she called him, that "there is a problem", meaning she's pregnant and he responded "I have exams" - he was avoiding talking with her about it. So the outcome was, that she killed herself and it's all because of his actions.
