In Polish music the lyrics are often as important if not for the whole experience. Especially the older music because it reflects the times when it came to be and how it affected the listeners. For example in times when Poles where actually poor and worked hard for very little this song is saying - the most important days are yet to come, those moments that will come (that's the chorus) and in the lyrics he talks about people and how they change with time and circumstances - it's almost a poem. Lack of dynamic in vocal is simply to compliment very meditative lyrics. Marek Grechuta is amazing singer, however he was a little held back by his music genre, which is called "poezja śpiewana" (lit. sung poetry, I don't think there is something of a kind in USA), that is amazing genre in itself, but emphisizes lyrics over vocal dynamic. If you want a little more dynamic piece of Marek Grechuta, you may try listening to "Korowód" (a little bit of rock), or "Nie dokazuj" (kinda frivolous take on sung poetry genre)

His music genre was sung poetry so you should definetely understand the lyrics to experience his music fully. Of course even without understanding this particular song is very easy to like.
You have to put this song into context. First of all it's a style more or less called "sung poem". It used to be very popular, when the access to the western music was limited and people were seeking some form of music they can relate to. Since polish education puts a lot of emphasis on polish poetry and literature, it was quite natural that this kind of music got popular. Unfortunately, let's call it high level art and music is not widely popular anymore. It's still thete but as a neesh style for small, usually highly educated and a bit poshy audience. The roots of mainstream Polish culture and music is in the local folk and rural areas. That is why the popularity of simple catchy melodies, cheesy lyrics like disco polo is massive. Unless you are a disco polo hater get any even the poshest Polish person drunk and they will party to this music all night long.
Instruments apart, 80% of the power of this song is the lyrics. The violin and piano parts, no matter how beautiful, are mere mood setters for the melancholic joy and hope that the words convey. It would be great to see another reaction but this time with the better understanding of the piece. You won't regret it 😉! It's a true game changer in perceiving the complexity and hardships of life.
Marek Grechuta was most popular in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a representative of a very popular musical trend called poetic song. The lyrics of the songs were often well-known poems by Polish poets - both classical and young, to which the young musicians composed music. The great star of this musical trend was Ewa Demarczyk, and her biggest hit was the song "Grande Valse Brillante", which I suggest you listen to.
The reason this song is so great is not because of music (which is good btw.). It's because of the lyrics. The words and key message are the most powerful here, therefore the music has to be more simple and subtle.
And the lyrics are equally amazing; the basic message is not to get downcast by problems but to hope for better future days that are still unknown and that's most important and hopeful.

Wonderful timeless music, his songs are wonderful, he has fun with his voice and music. They are all beautiful, but the song - Nie dokazuj miła nie dokazuj, I like it the most
Oh brother, there's sooo many great polish music, especially those made in 70/90's when Poland still wasn't really free, lirycs in those songs have something in it, like a little spark of actuall freedom, maybe thats why, we Poles listen them even today, even young generation. I highly recommend cheking out "Lady Pank - Kryzysowa Narzeczona", "AKURAT - Lubię Mówić Z Tobą" "Myslovitz - Długość dźwięku samotności" even rap songs like "GrubSon - Na szczycie" have this "freedom" feeling in it, its kinda hard to explain, especially to those that wont understand meaning in lirycs even after translating, but ye, polish music is god tier, most of it never will be international hit, but every Pole across the world will understand the meaning of those. [Even if some of those songs are newer, there's still something beautifull in them]

Hey. I really like your complex and sophisticated assessment of this music. You do it with enthusiasm, which is valuable because most of the people running their channel about Polishness speak in a shallow way about Polish, just to achieve a large number of viewership. Because, as we know, Poles are greedy in looking for a foreigner who speaks about Poland. I wish you all the best.
The album this song is from is ingenious in my opinion. Period. Marek Grechuta was also a great painter - something that even in Poland few people know. Greetings from Poland.
Try this songs by Grechuta: Korowód, Świecie nasz, Ocalić od zapomnienia, Tango Anawa, Wesele, Będziesz moją panią, Nie dokazuj, Krajobraz z wilgą i ludzie. Read 'Grechuta' as Grehuta (in Polish ch' = h'). 'Dni których nie znamy' means days we don't know.
I love this song. The somewhat monotone, calm Grechuta's voice along with the emotional instrumental music. There are emotions stressed in his voice, but they are really subtle, and strongly built around the lyrics. And the instrumental music is built around his voice and the words, and it brings the song to whole new level. It's like they are responsive to one another. For me personally, this song brings up so many emotions, always fills me up when I listen to it.
That's interesting, I've known this song since I was a child, I've heard it hundreds of times, but I didn't pay attention to the musical nuances. I liked the beautiful composition, but now I understand why. You clearly have musical training and can talk about it in an interesting way. Greetings from Poland.
This is not pop!!!, but poetic music. Apart from the music, the arrangement and the performance, the most important thing is the lyrics, the lyrics and more lyrics.
Whoa, you're so good at commenting music, I love how your commentary added plenty of depth to the song that I've known and loved for some 30 years! WOW.
The thing about older polish music is that words have a lot of meaning, especially before 1989. Anti-establishment sentiment, trying to sneak message to people etc, even in this song it is reminding people that we had bad times with communism but it's time to leave it behind. For more piano oriented music you could try Mela Koteluk - Żurawie Origami or anything else, if you want some fun metal stuff - Nocny Kochanek is way to go (they also have more serious music under name Night Mistress, but I don't like it that much). Jacek Kaczmarski was known as a polish bard, for more modern music Dawid Podsiadło is someone you probably heard, as he did ending for Cyberpunk anime. Wow, I wrote quite a lot xD Sorry about that, I just like talking about music. Have a nice one! :P
Grechuta - the singing architect ;) This version of the song sounds a bit different, as he is older and the way he is singing sounds like he has been through really hard times, while his younger version is more cheerful and optimistic. Obviously this is how I feel it.
"Cała sala śpiewa z nami", sung by Jerzy Połomski. It's great. I'd recommend some of Młynarski's songs (performed by Gołas) from the Dudek Cabaret, but although they're available on YT, they have no english subtitles, and since they're comedic in nature, context is necessary. It's a shame, cause a lot of good Central European media, especially before the late 90s, has rarely been officially subbed, and never been given the chance to be viewed by foreign audiences, and there are a lot of gems in music, as well as film, that I'm sure would blow people away. If you're nonetheless curious about the Kabaret Dudek songs, "Upiorny Twist", "W Polskę idziemy", and "Tupot Białych Mew" are some of my favorites. The tunes are great, and the lyrics really shine bright. Especially when sung by Wiesław Gołas.
Oh, this is fresh! Following the algorithm and seeing the numbers, I thought that such a niche vid is just not doing too well comparing to other stuff on the channel. I'd second checking Czesław Niemen for a similar era ("Cztery ściany świata" is my fav tune, but it's not famous). But for something completely different, maybe Polish hip-hop? Kaliber 44 - Plus i Minus might be the most "classic" piece. Could be "funny" without understanding the lyrics (apart from the swearwords, probably).
I think you should react to "Zawsze Tam Gdzie Ty" by Lady Pank and "Sen o Victorii" by Dżem. These are some of the best Polish songs from one of the best musical eras
The song is basically about the fact that only the upcoming days have any meaning. Of course each line has very powerful lyrics but the main theme is as I just wrote. That’s also the lyrics of the chorus.
There will be more then "upcoming days" - is main theme, but there is a lot about not giving up, looking for a sense od your life since you do not have many days left. And the story of that guy who made wrong choices but get back on the track without complayining about the past - there is future which you want to life before your time will ends.
We love our polish music here. There are so many songs that people would consider old but for us poles, it's not a party if at least one of those songs doesn't play 😊❤
Wes, you definitely need to check imho the most beautiful song about Kraków - "Grzegorz Turnau - Bracka" (yep, Bracka as Bracka street in the Old Town).
Hi Wes, I will leave this extract from my story. After many years of travelling, I've learned to bring with me few things abroad - snacks and sweets (ptasie mleczko, prince polo, etc.), drinks (Żubrówka, etc.), gifts and music. And when I was in Greenland, I met a pianist from Spain. He actually studied music in Kraków, but that I learned later. I hiked thru some remote areas with a tent and when he asked me, what I was listening, it was this songs. But the song that impressed him most, was one that I think is - I don't often use that word - future classic. In that I think it will be one of those songs that will never get old. And that is song made by Michał Lorenc - "Taniec Eleny". Back to the song that you listened. It is my favourite version. Not only because pointed difference to the studio record, about how much time is left. My favourite difference that makes me to come back to YT in search of this version few times a year is when that piano part comes and he sings (with help of google translate, adding some corrections that make me feel it's more adequate): "How will you suddenly separate your mind from your heart. How will you hear yourself in such a noisy scherzo." And that musical reference at the end is also more poetic in my view. Anyway, I am not a person that likes watching reactions or stuff like that, because I feel like it fuels hubris or pride, which I truly find as root of all sins, but I wanted to recommend you even in your time off cameras to listen to and - maybe? - enjoy that mentioned "Taniec Eleny" by Michał Lorenc. Cordially, Norman
This song was probably written in the 70s. In those years a very popular genre - sung poetry. Marek Grechuta was especially popular. You pay attention to instrumentalists because you don't know the language, but in sung poetry the text plus music is important.
I'm really glad to see someone appreciate polish music, that is not Polish Unlike how it is for most of the time in usa, music puts art over the entertainment in it's priorities. Since you liked the violin composing alongside Marek's voice, I'm sure you would love breakout's 1971 blues album. Its guitar and harmonica tends to 'speak' alongside the singer on a couple songs :)
that is one of fav songs of my mom and i also like it, with lyrics this litterally made me somethimes cry thanks for that video! to that moment i look mosty at lyrics and how this song is cool but frist time i look at song by themself deeper

Marek Grechuta has beautiful poetical lyrics. I love sung poetry. You can like Pawbeats, for example album NOCNA, Kortez, Kwiat Jabłoni, MIUOSH x ZESPÓŁ ŚLĄSK.
Marek Grechuta sang mainly poetry. He lived in my magical city of Krakow and performed in the famous in Poland "Piwnica pod Baranami" .Greetings from Krakow
Marek Grechuta was also an architect, which made him sensitive to the beauty and soul of the objects, smells and emotions surrounding us. This sensitivity allowed him to present the depth of our heart's feelings in a different way.
Wow man! You've truly selected a song here! Haha! This song is all about lyrics. It's more of a sung poetry than anything else. The author may sound monotone = not expressive because he suffered from schizophrenia.

That only those days that we don't know yet are important,
These few moments are important, the ones we are waiting for...x2
There was a famous person who had a house and an orchard,
He suddenly lost his sense and fell into bad circles,
Even though the fortune was gone, it didn't roll away,
He was then able to explain to himself that:
Only those days that we don't know yet are important,
These few moments are important, the ones we are waiting for...x2
How to recognize people we no longer know?
How to collect thoughts from those that are not put together?
How to suddenly separate your heart from your mind?
How to hear yourself amidst the singing of the crowd?
How to recognize people we no longer know?
How to collect thoughts from those that are not put together?
How to suddenly find joy and hope?

It’s a classic! No subs first and then with lyrics ;)
Both the singer and the pianist were trained architects ;). Although they never worked in this profession (kind of similar to Pink Floyd).
The words and key message are the most powerful here, therefore the music has to be more simple and subtle.
the lyrics are like 90% of quality of this song ;)
And the lyrics are equally amazing; the basic message is not to get downcast by problems but to hope for better future days that are still unknown and that's most important and hopeful.
Hey, great one. U should put more comments on Polish music as a musician. Your reaction has a lot of inside look
👍☺️❤️🇵🇱 Zbigniew Wodecki -"zacznij od Bacha"
Try marek grechuta - nie dokazuj, bro does funkier things with his voice and it’s also one of them songs EVERY pole knows like marek grechuta is one of the people that brings together generation in just singing and having fun and i’m saying this as a 16 yearold and like my parents love him, my grandparents love him, my friends love him his just this part of polish culture that you don’t actively think about but when you remember it’s soooo strong
There were so many days, filled up to loss of strength
Filled up to a loss of breath, there were so many moments
When you regret those which were for nothing
You should know one thing, remember just that:
That important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
Important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
A famous person who had a house and orchard
Suddenly lost meaning and fell in with a bad crowd
Although his fortune was lost, he did not fall
He was able to rationalize that
Important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
Important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
How to recognize people who we don't know anymore?
How to pick up the disarrayed thoughts?
How to quickly separate your heart from your mind?
How to hear yourself among the singing crowds?
How to recognize people who we don't know anymore?
How to pick up the disarrayed thoughts?
How to suddenly find joy and hope?
Seek for the answers, there's so much time*
Important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
Important are only the days which we do not know yet
Important are those few moments we're still waiting for
*At the end of his life, Grechuta started to sing "there's so little time" instead.

"Mury" by Jacek Kaczmarski. It's a song about revolutions that was one of the most important song in recent history of Poland, being used as kind of anthem of solidarity
It is pure poetry this song...telling aboat a life , and asking philosofical questions
[Even if some of those songs are newer, there's still something beautifull in them]
Lyrics are very important in this song. Please try to find a translation. Greetings from Denver CO USA . 😊
'Dni których nie znamy' means days we don't know.
nie dokazuj miła nie dokazuj, przecierz nie jest zanowu z ciebie znowu taki cud
No przecież, że NIE! @@simi1950
It's a pity you didn't have the text with translation because it's very good poetry!
Ale mi milo, dziekuje Panu. Pozdrawiam z Itali
One of my favorite song ❤️
I love this song. The somewhat monotone, calm Grechuta's voice along with the emotional instrumental music. There are emotions stressed in his voice, but they are really subtle, and strongly built around the lyrics. And the instrumental music is built around his voice and the words, and it brings the song to whole new level. It's like they are responsive to one another. For me personally, this song brings up so many emotions, always fills me up when I listen to it.
Wow. So a reaction video to a song CAN make sense and be interesting. Thanks!
Kocham piosenki Grechuty!👋🌹
That's interesting, I've known this song since I was a child, I've heard it hundreds of times, but I didn't pay attention to the musical nuances. I liked the beautiful composition, but now I understand why. You clearly have musical training and can talk about it in an interesting way. Greetings from Poland.
I know this song so well, and now you've made me listening it differently ❤
Great choice, please continue music reactions
I love old polish songs... Iron curtain make artist go deeper and deeper - it iwas tough times. Greetings from Tricity in Poland
Ja też tak odbieram. On przechodzi ciężkie chwile. Jest strasznie smutny, ledwo się uśmiecha ,bardzo cierpi.
My favorite Marek Grechuta's song.
4:22 I love ur reaction.Greetings from Poland!
Try "Zbigniew Wodecki-Lubię wracać tam, gdzie byłem" very good violin, guitar, and Singer as well, song from 80-and with very good wibe.
It is really great to see someone aprecciate polish music ❤
This author represents sung poetry, so the text is really very important
“Czas Ołowiu” and “Ratujmy co się da” by Budka Suflera 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
the song is very moving. It has a beautiful melody and very poetic lyrics.
Marek Grechuta - "Będziesz moją panią." 🥰 One of the most beautiful songs ever.
Love, how you interpreted the music.... thank you ❤
Surely background is amazing but the message is the most important and what people remember
To jeszcze Maanam 'Ocean wolnego czasu - Kraków'😄:

Hi 😄 Grechuta is in a class by itself 💖
Now I know what I was hearing al along :) Thanks!
My favourite difference that makes me to come back to YT in search of this version few times a year is when that piano part comes and he sings (with help of google translate, adding some corrections that make me feel it's more adequate):
"How will you suddenly separate your mind from your heart.
How will you hear yourself in such a noisy scherzo."
And that musical reference at the end is also more poetic in my view.
Cordially,
Norman
This song was probably written in the 70s. In those years a very popular genre - sung poetry. Marek Grechuta was especially popular. You pay attention to instrumentalists because you don't know the language, but in sung poetry the text plus music is important.
I'm really glad to see someone appreciate polish music, that is not Polish
Unlike how it is for most of the time in usa, music puts art over the entertainment in it's priorities.
Since you liked the violin composing alongside Marek's voice, I'm sure you would love breakout's 1971 blues album.
Its guitar and harmonica tends to 'speak' alongside the singer on a couple songs :)
that is one of fav songs of my mom and i also like it, with lyrics this litterally made me somethimes cry
thanks for that video! to that moment i look mosty at lyrics and how this song is cool but frist time i look at song by themself deeper
Quite large part of Polish people would like you to do similar react to one of most emotnional polish song. Zegarmistrz światła purpurowy by Tadeusz Woźniak
Marek Grechuta has beautiful poetical lyrics. I love sung poetry. You can like Pawbeats, for example album NOCNA, Kortez, Kwiat Jabłoni, MIUOSH x ZESPÓŁ ŚLĄSK.
Very sweet, traditional way of singing...
I liked your song reaction 😊
"Enej - Lili" is a very good song, one of my favorites
In fact text is main power of this song. Music is additional value. Greatings from Poland.
Love your videos man, already waiting for more, pozdrawiam
Marek Grechuta sang mainly poetry. He lived in my magical city of Krakow and performed in the famous in Poland "Piwnica pod Baranami" .Greetings from Krakow
"Co mi Panie dasz Orkiestra online" is a great piece made by 732 musicians. It's worth reacting to
Wielka szkoda że nie rozumiesz tekstu. Jeszcze bardziej byś się zachwycił.
Rozumie, ma tłumaczenie.●
Beautiful !!!!! We love you 😘
Marek Grechuta was also an architect, which made him sensitive to the beauty and soul of the objects, smells and emotions surrounding us. This sensitivity allowed him to present the depth of our heart's feelings in a different way.
It's not a typical pop song, it's a sung poetry.
It’s one of those songs where you hum the instrumental it’s just sooo good
Wow! You begin with a high C, this is called a "sung" poetry :)
Someone mentioned orkiestra online you definitely should check that one out ! Its crazy how they did it during covid :)
Wow man! You've truly selected a song here! Haha! This song is all about lyrics. It's more of a sung poetry than anything else. The author may sound monotone = not expressive because he suffered from schizophrenia.
Iconic song. Always moving
PS
Orkiestra online (Adam Sztaba)
Its nice when music tells something different that just how to bounce into repetetive beat.
