I went from a iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I transferred my data, settings and apps with the iPhones side by side. It went smoothly. The easiest transfer of data etc I’ve ever done.

Hi Aaron, you may have mentioned this but just wanted to ask, will this transfer method also carry over the passwords or do I need to re-enter passwords again for example for my banking app ?
It is great to see Apple working to make the process as easy as possible. It’s also a good idea to keep the old phone available for a couple weeks just as some insurance should something not work out. Cleaning out the unnecessary stuff on the old phone is also a smart first step.
I don't have a passcode on old phone, turned off. Will everything still transfer? I have apple ID password. This is overall such a clear explanation compared to others!

I went from a blue 13 Pro Max to a Space Black 14 Pro Max. Love the space black better than blue or the space grey. One question though; at 9:15 mark you talk about setting up Cellular. Didn’t we do that at the beginning (4:25 mark) when the phone asked us to set up our eSIM?
this is way better than having to backup to itunes and transfer that way or having to buy icloud storage just to transfer data to your new phone. might be an issue if your new phone has less storage than your old and you were using more space than the new phone has.

I find that when I change phones I loose access to my notes locked in Face ID. The Notes App asked for a character, letters, numbers password, which does not exist. any suggestions?
I start “New” every year and by starting new iCloud still transfers iMessage, Photos, Music, Contacts, and other Phone info. However what it doesn’t transfer is email and apps, but if you save passwords and whatnot signing into apps and email addresses is fairly simple. By downloading apps again you can get rid of old apps and also apps you don’t use anymore. Plus in my opinion the phone runs faster from from start up because it’s not downloading all of your transferred info from your old iPhone. I like starting new! Most of the info I use on a daily basis gets transferred automatically every year when I upgrade without having to have a restore from iCloud Backup.
You are absolutely right. I transferred all data with quick start from iPhone 11 to 14 pro max. And both phones have the same bugs and battery draining issues.

Very helpful Aaron. Is there a practical reason or advantage to using the side-by- side method of installation as opposed to doing it from iCloud backup? Also, you might want to advise viewers to sign out of find my phone and iCloud on the old phone before selling it or sending it back to the carrier? The carriers certainly urge users to do so.

I now plan on resetting the 13 to prepare it for handing down to my daughter, who is currently using 11 Pro Max. Would you recommend converting the physical SIM to eSIM on her 11 Pro Max prior to transferring to the 13, or just transfer the physical SIM? Hope that makes sense. I converted the physical SIM on my 13 earlier this week with Verizon and the process was painless, though I’m uncertain if it aids the transfer process. Thanks.
Id say keep the physical sim for now. At least when u hand me down they can just back up from iCloud then swap the sim. Just esim for them when they get the iPhone 14 in the future.

Went through the whole process last week when moving to my new iPhone SE 3, everything went pretty much smoothly But I use the data migration tool instead of iCloud, I found that to be way easier and time saving Enjoying the experience, but hope to see it getting better with subsequent updates of iOS 16

Thanks Aaron. I went from iPhone 7Plus to 14 Pro Max and it was seamless. But, I have one problem with google photos. It transferred my google photos app account seamlessly also but, it won't sync my photos on the new phone now. If backup is turned on in my google photos it starts backing up all photos on my phone even though they are already backed up from my original phone in my google photos account. This will just cause duplicates of everything and I can't seem to figure out how to overcome this problem.

Great video and explanation. I transferred from an iPhone X to a iPhone 14 Pro. Process went well as you described. IWatch was a little buggy. It tried to link 3 times but was unsuccessful. I had to manually unlink from the old iPhone and reset the watch to link to the new iPhone. Thank you for making this video.

Thank you for this video. Since I only get a new phone every 5 years or so, I tend to not be too familiar with the transfer process. I am about to upgrade from iPhone 8+ to iPhone 14 Pro. I only do backups through iTunes, because I prefer not to use the cloud. I am interested in using the transfer process you described rather than restoring from an iTunes backup, which I have done in the past. I have done a manual backup of all my photos to my PC ising the Microsoft Windows app on my PC, because I'm planning to start out with a clean slate and no photos on the new iPhone. I plan to only transfer a smaller number of photos from the PC back to the new iPhone 14, after sorting them out on the PC. I'm still a little bit fuzzy on transferring my physical SIM to eSim, but it appears that the transfer software will automatically prompt me through the process. If anything comes to mind that I should watch out for, please reply to this comment and let me know. Thank you.

Technically you can move your account, but not everything will be the same.

Do you have to login and use all the passwords in the apps again (big pain with the banking apps) or will all they all be set ready to go?

Great video and explanation. I transferred from an iPhone X to a iPhone 14 Pro. Process went well as you described. IWatch was a little buggy. It tried to link 3 times but was unsuccessful. I had to manually unlink from the old iPhone and reset the watch to link to the new iPhone. Thank you for making this video.

Hi arron, can you please help me ? I m transfer data from old to new iPhone. After Sos option it shows preparing your transfer and it’s not moving for hours now . And also did the iCloud backup option it also doesn’t show any progress. Please help

Thank you for this video. Since I only get a new phone every 5 years or so, I tend to not be too familiar with the transfer process. I am about to upgrade from iPhone 8+ to iPhone 14 Pro. I only do backups through iTunes, because I prefer not to use the cloud. I am interested in using the transfer process you described rather than restoring from an iTunes backup, which I have done in the past. I have done a manual backup of all my photos to my PC ising the Microsoft Windows app on my PC, because I'm planning to start out with a clean slate and no photos on the new iPhone. I plan to only transfer a smaller number of photos from the PC back to the new iPhone 14, after sorting them out on the PC. I'm still a little bit fuzzy on transferring my physical SIM to eSim, but it appears that the transfer software will automatically prompt me through the process. If anything comes to mind that I should watch out for, please reply to this comment and let me know. Thank you.

Hi Arron I switched to T Mobile receiving 2 iPhone 14’s tomorrow to replace an 11 and an Xr. Also going to setup T Mobiles 5 G Internet. I will let you know.
