Why isn't this movie available? Is it because of the masquerade ball scene with Caroline's body paint? This is a lavish production with beautiful players. I want to watch it!
I would love to see this movie! It came out when I was in high school and I never got a chance to see it. Richard Chamberlain is still his talented and gorgeous self, even at the age of 79! I am glad he came out of retirement to do some more acting.
This is one of my favored love story movies. I saw it when it open in 1972 at the tender age 16. I saw many times and videos of DVD were not invented yet at that time!
it shows how underrated can become legendary over time. i only saw RC play kind, vulnerable characters prior to this. a couple of his roles were so saccharine, they made me cringe; however, i still couldn't take my eyes off his performances. in LCL he gets to play the cruel poet finally. i knew the make up artists and costume designers could make him wickedly gorgeous portraying William Blake as well.
I would swear that back in the late 90s I saw this movie's Soundtrack from the 1972 film on a compact disc in a music store. And what did I do? I glanced at it and then, passed it by. The music to this film is exquisite. I always loved the theme to this movie, music by Richard Rodney Bennett. What an idiot I was not to purchase this soundtrack. I guess I thought it would be around for a while.
I would like to see this again. I saw it a long time ago and when I think about it now it brings to mind the Paula Yates, Michael Hutchence, Bob Geldoff triangle. Not that Hutchence was a cold bastard like Byron but there ae the same elements of scandal, recklessness, passion, vulnerability and the enduring loyalty of the husband.
lord Byron was a bastard,he toyed with her desperate love for him.She loved and admired him totally. Why did she fall for that poetic rogue, suppose bored and critical husband to blame.
I disagree with you this is a amazing actor and he slept once with a lady that's when he lost his virginity. He plays a very excellent lover in his movies especially the Thornbirds.
Fabulous costumes gorgeous Richard Chamberlain
Magnificent actor as always.l love
Wow, was he hot! And a beautiful voice with talent too. Thank you for posting this. Makes me really want to re-watch the movie.

Como en todas sus filmes, Chamberlain realizó un trabajo magistral.
This movie is a neglected classic. Like it's subjects, over the top at times but completely wonderful.

A very underrated film. Finch, Miles and Chamberlain did not put a foot wrong in it. Great stills.

You know another way Hutchence and Byron differed? Byron had real talent .
Ma è Sandra Milo???
Where can I get to see this movie?
I hear Chamberlain liked the boys. Oh yes.

Richard would not have known what to do with Lady Caroline in real life.

Oh I think he knows he just prefers not to. Not that appealing.
