Flying Branch Includes
Flying Officer ranks above pilot officer and immediately below flight lieutenant. Mostly the candidates dream to IAF as a pilot. To operate Fighter planes with the combat and transportation of ammunition tasks, aircraft which transport men and material, helicopters are in service for casual and emergency transportation, air support etc.
Navigators, who guide the pilots are also included in this field.
Ground Duty Branch includes
1.) Administration
Air Traffic Controller - Involves maintaining an orderly flow of traffic and airspace management.
Fighter Controller - Involves close contact and supervision between the air and radar for effective airspace management.
2.) Accounts
Account officers act as finance controllers and fund managers in various departments of the IAF
3.) Logistics
Responsible for materials management of all Air Force resources.
4.)Education
Officers have to impart training to future officers which include training them on simulators, making them aware of procedural conduct in other branches.

The physical and medical criteria for the Ground Duty (Technical) branch of the Indian Air Force are as follows:
Height: Minimum of 157.5 cm for males and 152 cm for females
Weight: Body weight should be in proportion to height
Sitting height: Minimum of 81.5 cm and maximum of 96 cm for males
Leg length: Minimum of 99 cm and maximum of 120 cm for males
Chest circumference: Minimum of 77 cm, and should be well-developed and well-proportioned
Spine: Candidates should not have any old or residual spine fractures, or any deformity
