    Solo\Lead workshops are a great idea. This was a good lesson especially for beginners trying to dip their toes in Jerry's style

    I liked how you gave us a couple of key concepts to work on (WWH, linking chord inversions). I feel like I picked up some solid fundamentals. Thanks!

    Loved it Davvy. You really simplified the soloing progressions that sound unattainable to a newbie.

    That was dope, thanks Davvy! Looks like there’s a good crowd able to get on the live daytime streams.

      Yeah! I was impressed! Next time I’ll try to come with a bit more of a lesson plan. Maybe work on an idea specifically.

    Straight up, the first time I watched one of your instructional videos, within the first minute or so I thought "who is this asshat?" Then you dropped into your Davvy teaching mode and immediately I got you. Then I got all that start up humor, vibe and lightness. You are an amazing teacher. I've been playing for 45 years and I ALWAYS take something away from your lessons and I also laugh out loud quite a bit. This Live Solo Workshop was awesome. Thank you for your time, lessons and humor (formerly "asshatness"). It's just all great stuff and shared in such a good way. That Davvy teaching mode is seriously good stuff.

      Henry! I really appreciate this! I’m stoked that you get it. Haha. I am an asshat, though.

    I've come back to this session a number of times. Doing another version of this with basically the same start-up info along with further context on easier Dead songs would be most welcome. I'm starting to get it, but nothing like the 75% speed to sort some techniques out ... and to make Davvy sound slurry. Love this content!

    My teacher started with the shapes, scales, arpeggios and roots. Then inversions. I see where this is going now.. great video!

    Didn't get to see live - but the replay has been a really great lesson... the chord based way of soloing (vs. trying to navigate scales) - that explanation is so helpful... Thanks !

    You are so right... the "C" shape barre chords open up the world and make it easy to link up or down the neck... and the chromatics are so useful... especially when you are messed up... you can sort of search and hear where you need to be.

    Thanks for the lesson. I'd like to hear more about the WWH you were talking about. Are you saying that no matter where we're at in the scale, that I can always go up WWH? Or do I need to be starting on the root and follow the scale pattern? I think another topic of discussion is phrasing and repeating to build tension and then release. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Also, I couldn't watch the live stream and on the video, it didn't include the live chat. It would be helpful to have the questions being asked.

    • @TobyDavvy
      @TobyDavvy  3 года назад +1

      Yes! This is great feedback! Thank you! I’ll make a note of all these. And the live chat should be up once the video is done processing. It just takes a while sometimes.

    • @TobyDavvy
      @TobyDavvy  3 года назад +3

      And as far as the WWH method goes, it just depends where you start sometimes you’re starting on the second W instead of the first or even the H, that comes with counting out the steps between the note of the chord you’re on and the note of the next inversion of that chord you’re going to. That’s another reason learning the inversions is important.
