Being in my late 20s, I loved hearing that Lucy was interning at 32 years old before her position at Vogue. Most have way too much pride to intern that "late in life" with all those 19 year olds-myself included! This has really changed my perspective. It's never too late to achieve your dreams!!
Hey Alexa 👋 I am really interested in Vogue and would love an internship myself. It would be so amazing if you could guide me through how I can get an internship.
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "is writing jobs online legit" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Mennaphew Coinspin Expertise - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy got great results with it.

I feel like these videos are coming at a perfect time. I recently graduated university with a degree in criminology, but hated what I was studying. I've now applied to post-grad courses (journalism and pr). It's so refreshing to hear how many people had no idea what they wanted to do, and how many opportunities there actually are in the world of fashion. Looking forward to the next episode!
maaan, I love the color correction on all of Vogue's videos. would love to talk shop with their team of video editors, the grain looks amazing. hats off to their video team
I think what makes this series - and this episode in particular - so brilliant is that it deals with perspectives and ideas that don't commonly come to light in these sorts of features; usually, the advice is repetitive and generic (intern lots, pay attention to detail, work hard, etc.) While those tips are valuable, I think the specific and thoughtful advice that Lucinda and Alex really delve into quite deeply here is TENFOLD. You really get a sense of what kind of workplace British Vogue is, and once again, I am floored by the talent, authenticity, and passion that this publication continues to breed. Thank you Alexa & Vogue for this look into your world! I hope to move to London and work for MissVogue someday, and am currently running my own digital publication with a staff of 20. Keep up the great work; I'll be waiting (im)patiently for the next installment.
Ive been working in the magazine industry now for 6 years and loved every second. I know how it feels to start out. I had an opportunity to work at MORE! Magazine (back in the day) and grabbed it so quickly. It was working on the picture desk, I was a designer but it was my key to get hold of the Art Director, and because of that determination I got my first proper job :D Never give up!
Kiall & Sarah I’m so interested in this industry! I’ve always had a passion for fashion and photography and I’ve recently started to explore the idea of magazine editing. I like tasteful designs and editing pictures , I like aesthetics and everything to do with it. What did you do to get involved in the industry? Did you go to college for a certain degree?
This is such a breath of fresh air. Some of the top level people in fashion publishing talk realistically and concretely about what they actually do and what it takes to get there. Thanks for doing this!
What an honest and great piece. This truly is inspiring. Always wanted to work in fashion but figured it couldn't be and was more a passion ... so went the politics route. British Vogue is a really interesting institution, with its own 'soul' (for lack of a more ew word) and different from the French and American Vogues.
I love these series, they present fashion in such an accessible way and really show the evolving nature of the fashion industry and its ability to change perceptions and social movements. Fashion is so often perceived as a frivolous, unimportant topic, but the more experimental we make it the more innovative and boundary pushing it will become. It is a platform for individual voices and most importantly change! I'm a teenager and v interested in journalism - thanks for the series x
I must say I love these episodes with Alexa Chung. She is such an incredible host, she is funny and smart and she is weird in all the right ways. I´m looking forward to seeing more of these.
These videos with the participation of the fashion industry's top insiders are so precious, inspiring and informative. Especially for those who live far away from everything, but still feel a part of this community and want to develop their knowledge. There are just books, magazines and these mini-documentaries. Thanks a lot, Vogue and Alexa
This was so helpful! The world of fashion/beauty publication has always been something I want to get into, but even though I've done a lot of research on it I never really got a straight answer. So it was nice to be able to hear what the people that are working at the place and in the positions I want to work had to say. Can't wait till part 2!
Im a top sportsman at my High School or College where I am in the premier Water Polo and First XV Rugby team and it is also my final year. I am currently in pre-season trials and training and have had offerings to trial for professional teams beginning next year. However all I can think about is fashion, whether it be styling, creating or whatever. I feel like I'm being torn between what Im good at and what I want to do. Im also nervous about what people will think of me, as fashion is still not perceived as 'manly' where I come from, especially if you are successful at 'manly' sports such as rugby. Sorry about the post I just needed to vent.
Please do what you love. Please. You never want to regret it at a later stage. I am 34, and I just want to take you and hug you and put you under my wing..... not that I have fashion connections or any rich background. But I have soul and believe in being happy. Just do what you love!
this is a great video for anyone who wants to get into fashion journalism. I like how Vogue has adopted digital strategy into their journalism practices.
I was actually so surprised to see that all the people being interviewed here were not intimidating or unapproachable at all! Especially the last woman, she seems lovely :)
I feel like to make it in fashion is the people you know and how how you present yourself to that company. I hope one day to get an opportunity to work within the industry .
Oh so inspiring....This video has inspired me to take a month off from my current job and intern at Vogue or Harper's Bazaar in India. Currently I handle PR & Marketing for Salvatore Ferragamo in India.
I feel so happy that you're doing this kind of videos. Watching this makes me realize that maybe I can have my dream job or even a job better than i ever thought. Thank you guys for showing us how we can reach our goals and how with passion and hard work we can make our dreams come true. This was definitely what i needed right now to cheer me up. Lots of love, Alle
I had an interview as Jewellery Photographer for a boutique store. They loved my work. My surname sounds Japanese.. they were 'underwhelmed' to see I was not Japanese.
A lot of people fell into jobs back in the day, but these days the competition is fierce! Seems we have to be way more ambitious these days... Love this series :)
I love all the Alexa Chung videos! Not only does she have an impeccable sense of style but the videos are also incredibly helpful as well! Good job BV!
This is so inspiring!!! I'm so mad I'm not studying fashion because this series shows that you really don't have to be a fashion designer to be in the industry! But we only have fashion design major in Portugal though which is sad! I hope I make my way into the industry anyway
This seems like excellent advice that can be applied to any experience you're trying to work for. Thanks for making something that is sincere and not overly general or a rehash.
Nice to see alexa in front the camera presenting, she's always fun to watch. Vogue seems like a scary place to work, even though it would be dream. Thanks guys! 😊😊
Can you tell us about or give us an inside look at schools that will help us get into the industry? Like Central Saint Martins or London College of Fashion? And what majors would be the best to apply for and degrees to earn to start our careers in fashion?
Right...it all sounds pink and fluffy from these lovely stories, but these days internships don't work how they use to anymore. Not to mention if you are lucky enough to get one in this life without knowing someone who knows someone who knows someone. And I am pretty sure that if I call Vogue tomorrow morning to ask if I can just pop in for an interview it simply won't happen.
I was so excited to see this video in my subscription box, after loving the last series! This was so interesting- I soaked up every shot and every sentence! I would love to work at Vogue someday.
great video, but perhaps one of the major qs aught to be: how can non-white talents break into an industry and fashion magazine notorious for its lack of diversity? Rarely are any of these great profiles/docs reflecting the talent pool of UK womyn/men. It seems only person of color in the video are the token celebs and rare models on the cover or inside the editorial edition.
@MikeHunt that isnt all true. Thats like saying America is based only whites when Blacks and even Native Americans should be in the fashion as well. Youre only talking about a mahority of the honelands population when its only white or white-passing who should be the main face of productions. Because even in china and all mentioned faces are white looking "passing" if you will because of a long talked about issue of white-washing. Not every single country or continents production should solely focus on the majority of the population but the diversed. Not one diversed person in a sea of mahority in each departmebt just to say "we have a token ___ in this department"
@@TK_Danes you are really racist to say the Chinese as white passing looking. I can understand about white passing if you are talking in western countries, but eastern countries??
Found the previous series so insightful, I would like to see more on the design side of things though as I am currently a fashion/textile design student. I would like to know the best ways to get noticed as a designer to other companies and also what they look for in your work. Would also be interesting to see what it's like to start off as an intern and the design process as a whole. Thanks Vogue!!
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "is writing jobs online legit" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Mennaphew Coinspin Expertise - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy got great results with it.
More more more!! This is the best series and Alexa is the perfect individual to host. I would LOVE to be an intern at Vogue. What are the steps to get there?!
Wow I don't feel so bad not knowing what the future holds when I heard Lucinda talk about her experiences. I would LOVE to intern with you, willing to travel from the US to the U.K. 🙏🏾
i understand the heads of all this areas in fashion got their jobs by doing a call or writting a nice letter because times back then werent as compwtitive and hard as now. entrefashionista I’m 12 is that too early to start planning these things 😂💗
8 years later how is it going?? We wanna know!!!
I'm a fashion student and i'm gonna be doing an internship next month so this inspired me sooo much! Thanks alexa, thanks vogue!
LUCKY GIRL ... GOOD LUCK !!! 😍💖
+Alexa Al YAAAAAS have fun and kick ass!
Alexa Al can you email me yasminmirre@gmail.com and tell me how it went! I'd love to know, thanks!
what are you doing now career wise?
Hey Alexa 👋 I am really interested in Vogue and would love an internship myself. It would be so amazing if you could guide me through how I can get an internship.
connections, connections, connections.

Love Alexa Chung she is such a good interviewer and a bubbly character!
I seriously think that if it wasn't Alexa doing this series it wasn't that good , interesting and funny at all! Alexa Chung is the queen!!!

The Green Bows how are you doing now? I’m currently majoring in journalism with an emphasis in PR and I’m pretty nervous.
I wanted to do criminology extremely bad but fashion journalism too.....
if i'm honest, i'm not all that fussed about fashion as compared to most subscribers but i just watch this cos of alexa
me too
uhh yess. she is so fun to watch!
+Ardiana x me too!!!!!
+Ardiana x that's because you're a moron.
same OP lol
Love that Lucy was an intern at 32 - it's never too late!
Lucinda is amazing! Lovely to see successful women willing to be a guide for those just entering the industry.
maaan, I love the color correction on all of Vogue's videos. would love to talk shop with their team of video editors, the grain looks amazing. hats off to their video team
+Samuel Alemayhu I know right! Some of the most underrated content on youtube.
it ain't though. you need to know where to look.
Yes yes yes yes. Previously, I could have cared less about the fashion industry but these films have made me so intrigued!! Keep them coming!
I want to work at VOGUE so much

1. Alexa is a goddess
2. This taught me that we shouldn't plan anything and just do whatever we love

Graphic design student here, dreaming of working at VOGUE as a designer/director one day. Going to manifest myself into this job ✨
this is a great video for anyone who wants to get into fashion journalism. I like how Vogue has adopted digital strategy into their journalism practices.
I love how everybody is very tastefully dressed
this was so interesting and filmed so well!!
I was actually so surprised to see that all the people being interviewed here were not intimidating or unapproachable at all! Especially the last woman, she seems lovely :)
This is like an inspiration, a "keep on working hard". Hope one day I will be able to work on Vogue. Anxiously waiting for part 2.
Best morning message ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucinda seems like the kind of person you need in your life, let alone during work experience. Really loved the content of this video :)
"Due to work demands, Vogue Australia is not in a position to offer any work experience opportunities."
-- grrrrrrrrrr
That Gucci top Alexa is wearing is gorgeous!
Oh my god yes! Chung is back! ❤️
I feel like to make it in fashion is the people you know and how how you present yourself to that company. I hope one day to get an opportunity to work within the industry .
This was so interesting, I'm excited to see the second part !
this is my favorite documentary! Alexa Chung is the best. Can't wait for part 2!!
Oh so inspiring....This video has inspired me to take a month off from my current job and intern at Vogue or Harper's Bazaar in India. Currently I handle PR & Marketing for Salvatore Ferragamo in India.

Amazing series!!!
I am 38.. Love my life right now .. But you make me dream .. Thank you !
This seems like excellent advice that can be applied to any experience you're trying to work for. Thanks for making something that is sincere and not overly general or a rehash.
That was amazing. Super interesting and refreshing that all these people in high senior positions don't take themselves too seriously.
Nice to see alexa in front the camera presenting, she's always fun to watch. Vogue seems like a scary place to work, even though it would be dream. Thanks guys! 😊😊

Can't wait to have our design's in Vogue!. We ❤ you Alexa!.
Loved this!! The fashion industry really interests me, but if I'm honest I'm not sure what the right fit would be for me.

HOW TO GET A JOB AT VOGUE:
1.Be the most facile and skin-deep person you know.
2. Weigh fuck all.
3. Know fuck all about biochemistry (probably).
I love Alexa's documentary/advice videos!
this was so interesting!!!!! really loved it xx
Gimme gimme more chungy
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "is writing jobs online legit" for a while now, and I think this has helped. YESSSS!!! THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME SERIES.
I have a feeling that interning for British Vogue would be more welcoming and inclusive than American Vogue.
Love these series
Best series ever...
